Congrats! I just hit 50lbs lost today myself! It's such a great feeling to reach a milestone in the weight loss. 5 weeks and some change and I'm feeling better than ever! I can't wait until I can run and my knees won't feel like they are about to break! Good luck on reaching your goal soon!

I take Bariatric Advantage - Ultra Formula with Iron. It's a capsule but it is a rapid dissolving type. It looks big at first but it actually dissolves before it even hits your stomach.

May Sleevers...where are you?
Dysruption replied to bvenegas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It can depend on a lot of things. What is your carb intake? water intake? how many calories per day are you getting? Protein could be one of them, and there are other options besides shakes to get it in. -
The Woodlands here! I'm almost 5 weeks out now and going strong! 46 lbs lost as of this morning. I hit a stall a week or so ago, but since then it's picked up again and moving quite well! Don't sweat the 'stall' stuff lol. I've got about another week before I can start working out with weights again and I can't wait!

Question: when can you eat protein bars?
Dysruption replied to cindyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most protein bars you get have a little bit of a crunch to them these days. But you can find the ones that are just soft protein and they dissolve in your mouth pretty nicely. Pure Protein makes a good one that is low in sugar and 21g of protein. Only 190 calories too. It fills me up pretty good and some days I can't finish it in one sitting. I started eating some of them in soft food stage. They didn't give me any problems. -
Hey, I started having some pain in the area where the largest incision was too. I noticed it when laying down and when I changed positions in bed. It's not excruciating, it just feels like a bit of discomfort. I thought it was just my abs sore from some fun time with the Mrs., but its lingered for the past 2 days. At what point is this an actual problem?

Pudding, lots of pudding. To the extent that I won't eat pudding again for a very long time. Greek yogurt, homemade cream soups because the store ones just put too much junk in it. Protein shakes too, as some one put it, until they were coming out of my ears. I've seen some recipes for some hot and sour soup, but I never made it. Looking back on it, it would have been delicious. You can Google a ton of good recipes out there, but if you're not one to make things for yourself, your options are pretty limited without exceeding fat/carb limits that should be put on your diet during this time. Just remember these are just temporary times and soon you'll be in pureed, then softs. As time goes by you'll get that water in without an issue. Welcome to the forum and good luck on your weight loss journey!

How did you get past the liquid stage? Feeling hopeless
Dysruption replied to cuchas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello, Just something I found on Google, that actually brought me back to Bariatricpal.com. I just skimmed through the recipes for full liquid diet, and even though I'm on softs and about to transition to all foods soon, I might still make some of these! https://sleevers.wordpress.com/category/recipes/full-liquids-soft-foods/ I give credit where it's due, and this came from @@gamergirl who is a member of this forum. She has great recipes with all the food labels to them. There are some pretty inventive ways to use the Protein powder that's outside of a shake. -
Having fruit is not a bad thing. Fruit in moderation is actually good for you. It shouldn't be your number one source of energy but fruit holds good nutrients for your body. I just had a little bit of cantaloupe, and it was delicious! Have you been able to try some fish? Some white albacore tuna with some light miracle whip is awesome. You can even spice up the tuna with some fresh pineapple juice. The fact is, you have to eat, otherwise you could cause your body to stall on your weight loss. So look up some light recipes online, there are a ton of websites out there for people like us looking for some good tasting meals, for each stage of the diet. Google is always your friend

I cheated....I'm ashamed
Dysruption replied to chines66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pre-op diet cheating? I didn't really have a pre-op diet, except low fat low carb diet for 5 days prior to surgery. I've heard doctors are getting away from the 2 week liquid diets because it's just a little overkill. Your stomach only needs 8-12 hours to be empty prior to surgery actually happening. I suppose the pre-op diets condition you for how you will have to live for a few weeks after surgery, but don't beat yourself up over a few fries and some steak on the pre-op diet. Good luck on the rest of your journey! -
What's the soonest you went back to work?
Dysruption replied to Chylyn7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my surgery May 19th this year. I took 4 days off and scheduled it so the Memorial Day was an extra day off. I returned back to work on May 26th. I had the ability to work from home for a few days but didn't really use them. Not sure what kind of job you'll be starting and the training schedule you'll be going through, but is it possible to post-pone starting the new job until after your surgery? Not everyone recovers at the same rate after, so it could be 1-2 weeks until your feeling somewhat normal after surgery. -
I NEED Pre-Op Diet suggestions
Dysruption replied to rear624's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh this is pre-op! I should have read where the question was asked, my apologies! I was not the best on my pre-op diet to be honest. Trust me though, post-op is a whole different ball game. You will most likely not even feel hungry. There are times I have to tell myself it's time to eat because I have to get my protein in. Just hang in there until you have the surgery! Trust me, it's all worth it! When you're 4 weeks out and shedding pounds and clothes sizes, you'll look back on these days and laugh! -
I work in The Woodlands north of Houston. Yeah, I googled it and only found that in San Antonio. They have a good menu, that's for sure! I have a My Fit Foods not to far from my office I will visit again. The only thing I noticed about their food is it's high in carbs. Maybe on a day when I do strength training, when I get to at least. I am still a week and a few days out from being able to use weights.

I NEED Pre-Op Diet suggestions
Dysruption replied to rear624's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First, if you are starving, you need to determine if it's head hunger or is it your stomach has too much acid build up? A lot of Protein shakes have some stuff in them that can cause a build up of acid in the stomach. Too much acid in your stomach makes you feel like you are hungry and you may not be. Are you taking antacids? Secondly, how far are you out from surgery? That will determine some good tips to help you choose some other things to eat that are good for you and will give you as much protein as you need for the day. -
Weight Loss Progress!
Dysruption replied to Seamster44's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First 2 weeks I dropped 34 lbs and at one month was down 40. Now I'm down 44. 86 to go! -
it at 10. Thanks for your reply. I was really freaking out. I chugged like 3 bottles of Water and it made me nauseous. Nothing to eat or drink after 12 so Ima drink as much as I can until then. This hunger is killing me. I know exactly how you are feeling! Everyone went through it at some that has had the surgery. You'll be fine, like jane13 said, you just need to stay on track tonight. My advice, get some sleep. It will be hard to sleep in the hospital, at least it was for me, after surgery. Especially when they come in your room every 3-4 hours to check something, blood pressure, sugar levels, dose of pain meds (much needed). Rest now will help for tomorrow Good luck and welcome to the journey to becoming healthier!
-
What time's your surgery tomorrow? Your stomach really only takes about 8 hours to empty out so you may be fine.

Losing pounds but do not feel a difference
Dysruption replied to TXBrittBritt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Self image is hard to change in a short period of time. I had the same issue, I could tell I felt a little better and lighter on my feet even, but when I looked in the mirror I still saw the same fat guy as before. My wife kept telling me I needed to try on some of my old clothes, but I told her no. I was too scared that they would still be too small and I'd feel like this surgery wasn't working. Eventually I gave in and found that I could fit into my XXL shirts. I started keeping track of my measurements too which helped me see the numbers I was shedding, not just on the scale, but my dimensions too! How long ago was your surgery? It can take some time for your body to shed some inches. I really started noticing after week 2. -
2 week follow up appointment-feeling low
Dysruption replied to MsTodd's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
@@MsTodd I'm sorry to hear that you're having a tough time with your surgeon. I can't say that I have been in your shoes, but let's start at the heart of the issue, your food intake. Are you monitoring everything through a food tracker like My Fitness Pal? If not, I would extremely suggest you do so. Lay out your schedule for what you're going to eat throughout the day and don't deviate from it. Measure your portions out in small containers and never eat outside of a bigger dish. You have to remember that your sleeve is just a tool and unless you use it the right way, the results will not be as good as you would have hoped. What is your calorie intake each day on average? What is the ratio of Protein:Carbs:Fat? These are essential to monitoring if you are going to turn it around. What about your activity level? Are you walking 30 continual minutes each day at least once per day? I don't mean to pry and ask too many questions, but let's examine the facts and by process of elimination you can find the problem areas that need to be worked on. You don't have to improve on all areas overnight, I know how hard that can be, but take it one day at a time. Find yourself a goal and achieve it, even if it's a small goal. That way you can build upon that small goal and soon you'll find yourself in a good behavior pattern. I wish you the best! -
@@Erato Calliope I've eaten at my fit foods and I might have to go back now that 9 dollars would last me 3 meals instead of leave me hungry and wanting more. Never heard of Zedrics. What part of the country are you located?
-
@@Erato Calliope Thanks for responding! I'm glad to hear you're doing good on your diet and have tested the waters to see what works for you. Personally, I didn't see the difference of pureed and soft food as long as you chew everything up to a pureed consistency. I advanced my diet a little ahead (braces for the stone throwing from some) but suffered no problems doing so. This is just a disclaimer, anyone reading this should not take this as advice to deviate from their prescribed plan for their surgeon or nutritionist! Today was actually my first day seeing the scale move since my "3 week stall" that happened in my 4th week. This is the first stall I hit, but I'm told it won't be the last. Stalls aren't so bad, they help the rest of your body, skin included, try and catch up with what you've lost so quickly. Sorry that you had to go back to work, lol! But it's good you got to take some time off to adjust. To be honest, I have head hunger a lot right now. I see things that trigger those old memories of eating a ton of Cookies or chips and salsa at a mexican restaurant. It was extremely hard not to just grab them and dip those chips in like I used to when I went to eat with family. I know this will pass but it's hard to see that far ahead right now. Anyone battled this before? When did it get better?

Prescribed Diet: To Stick With Or Not To Stick With?
Dysruption replied to jm726's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, it saved my life from eating pudding. Man I was so tired of eating pudding that I don't think I will eat it for a long time. I just transitioned to soft diet now and it's glorious! I tried some mock lasagna today that someone posted, which can be used during pureed stage also, and it was awesome! -
Hello! I had my surgery on 5/19/15. Wow! I can't believe it's almost been a month! I lost 40 lbs so far and I have also hit a stall recently. I just saw the scale move for the first time in a week today, so I hope I'm past it. I just focused on getting my Water and Protein in for the day while. I also made sure I was eating 600-800 calories a day. I've read where people during week 4 and 5 increased to 900-1000 and it helped them break through their stall. But the main thing is to go by what you're surgeon or nutritionist tells you. @@GAC Don't get discouraged! Just make sure you're sticking with the plan. Don't worry about your numbers in the short term. It's good that you lose the weight gradually or you may run into skin issues later. Be sure you're tracking your food consumption so you can make sure you have a good Protein-Carbs-Fat balance. Glad to meet a fellow Texan! I hope everything works out for you!

Prescribed Diet: To Stick With Or Not To Stick With?
Dysruption replied to jm726's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so sorry that I missed this post! You'll need: 2-3 big potatoes (any except for red) Italian seasoning garlic seasoning skim milk for thinning it down Skin and boil the potatoes as if you're making mashed potatoes. Basically you are going to make mashed potatoes except you are not adding better to make them more creamy. Once you have mashed the potatoes, the best thing to use is an emulsifier to blend it down really finely while adding in the milk and seasoning. You can add whatever seasoning makes you happy during this part. The consistency of the potatoes should be like soup. You might need to add some salt, but not too much! I added a piece of skim milk cheese to my serving to up the flavor a bit. It only added about 50 calories. This was a great break away from the puddings and Protein shakes I was eating all day. This also gives you a little carbs if you're not getting enough in the day. Be careful not to eat this too many times during the day because it is quite a bit of carbs. 1 oz is about 15 carbs and 80 calories or so. Hope you enjoy! -
Sleeved Monday June 8th and starving :(
Dysruption replied to alindsey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The hunger feeling could be your stomach acid tricking your stomach to feel empty. Have you been prescribed antacids? If not, you may want to consult your doctor about it.
