Please Somebody Help Me!!!!!!!
thin2bme replied to angelsvoice's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Angel, I think you're located in Kansas City (I recognize the doctor name). I'm also in Kansas City and being banded next Friday on the 21st. I have tried a LOT of protein drinks the last few weeks and I've only found 1 that I really really like, it's available at Manna Nutrition store in Overland Park it's called Nectar Sweets Chocolate Truffle, it is wonderful and mixes instantly with water. I tried the Unjury and to me, it was hard to get it to dissolve, but the Chocolate Truffle dissolves really easy and taste like a candy bar. Trust me, it's worth your time to go buy some of this. You might call GNC they might carry it too, if Manna isn't near you. Just a suggestion. -
3 days in Hospital??????
thin2bme replied to LOOKIN2LOOSE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go in for surgery next Friday and it's outpatient, surgery @ 8:00am and probably will be home by noon or so according to my doctor. -
Fenton, I just had to chuckle when I read your post about watching TOP CHEF this morning, I know what you mean about watching and wanting something to eat. I don't get my band until a week from tomorrow and thank goodness I only have to do 2 days pre-op of liquids and 3 days post op liquids but they do have me watching my choices of food right now, so I chose myself to make myself eat low calorie foods just so I could lose some weight on my own before surgery and I got really hungry yesterday afternoon, I finally settled on a protein drink and managed to get by til I got home and had my Healthy Choice Dinner. It's not easy, but I'm determined this will work for me even though I'm dreading the liquid diet portion of the diet, but I'll do what I have to do. Just couldn't resist chuckling over your comment above, lol.

Congratulations Brenda, you've found the right place for support along your journey. I haven't gotten my band yet, but my surgery is next week on Good Friday, March 21. Good luck with your journey.
-
Thanks for the info on all of the support groups Ghost, I might attend some of those also, maybe I'll check out the one this Saturday at the Heartland Hospital, surgery date for me is coming up next week and I agree with John I can use all the help I can get.
-
I also tried Isopure and didn't like it much, the only thing that I've found that I really like is Nectar Sweets Chocolate Truffle made by Syntrax. It taste just like eating candy, if you like chocolate I'd recommend this one. I'm still experimenting with different drinks and this is the only one I think I can actually live with after I get my band, lol.
-
mom goodluck with your surgery tomorrow, I go Friday for my pre-op labwork and EKG, then off to surgery on Good Friday, March 21. I think you and I have been in this together for awhile so hope things go well for you.
-
Just found out my surgery date is set for March 21. Anyone else being banded this day, maybe we can become friends and compare notes.
-
Congrats to everyone above on a March 21 surgery date and to Lynn for March 19. We are all in this together and I can't wait.
-
Right now my doctor just has me staying away from fatty foods and doing protein drinks twice a day and making good food choices until March 19 when I start the liquids only pre-op diet. I'm glad to know there is someone else getting banded the same day as me, I've been afraid that my doctor might want to reschedule my surgery since that is Good Friday and it didn't appear anyone else was being banded that day. Glad I don't have to do the liquids this far in advance, I'm still experimenting with protein drinks and have only found 1 so far that I'm happy with. It's Nectar Sweet Chocolate Truffle with 46 grams of protein mixed with 16 oz water made by Syntrax. Hope I find something else before the 19th, I'm not liking Isopure, Cytosport, New Whey. I have some Unjury that I haven't tried yet, maybe it will be good, guess I'll find out. We'll have to keep in touch and compare notes since we'll be going thru this together!

Protein Drink Recommendation, Please
thin2bme replied to tammygirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had my surgery yet, but it's scheduled in a couple of weeks and I've been trying different protein drinks, one that I absolutely love, is made by Syntrax and it's called Nectar Sweets (chocolate truffle) flavor. It has 180 calories and 46 grams of protein for 2 scoops mixed with water or cut it in half for half the protein. It's marvelous, here's a website for cheapest costs that I've found it at to save money. Fitness First USA - Bodybuilding Weightlifting Supplements at Huge Savings -
Referred to behavioral mod classes before surgery.
thin2bme replied to Angelsma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pschologist has me seeing a person in his office for behavior modification, however, I've only been seeing her the last couple of weeks and my surgery is scheduled for March 21. She told me they like to do this over a longer period of time sometimes 6 to 8 weeks before surgery, but my date was just set recently and I hadn't gotten into see her earlier. So far she's been a BIG help and I'd recommend it to you and anyone else that could see someone for help on this issue. She told me it is to get you used to your new eating behaviors so you don't go into it cold turkey and that what they are seeing in there office 2 year post op patients that did NOT have this therapy are regaining some of their weight and old eating habits, thus, the reasoning behind it. Go for it and reap the rewards it should bring later!! -
Hm, interesting. I also am a Glaucoma suspect and see my opthalmogist every 6 months. I'll be interested to see what my pressure is the next time I see him once I'm banded. Thanks for posting this!!
-
I guess I'm the lucky one, I actually had 2 of my doctors recommend the lapband surgery and I didn't even bring it up. After hearing that from 2 doctors over a 6 month time period, I decided that I should get serious and look into it, thus, here I am and I'll be banded on March 21. This website has been a godsend to me for gathering information and getting input from other people who've already had the procedure and I think this is just what I need to help keep my weight off once I get to my goal. I'm like everyone else here, lost the weight and put back on twice as much. Just remember you're doing this for you and don't let other people's comments get to you, this is your body and your life!!

Thanks for posting that link Ghost about the 2 bands. I think after going to the support group the other nite and finding out that the new Realize band has only been put in once so far by Dr. Hoehn or Hitchcock and that #2 is being planned sometime soon, that I might go with the Allergan, but the juries still out here, lol. Now that I'm less than 3 weeks away, I'm beginning to get a little more nervous, but I'm still excited and can't wait for it to be over with so I can start using my new tool. This website has been a godsend for me and I'll continue to post even after surgery!!!

I'm all for one thread for us March bandsters! Congrats on your surgery date, mine is March 21, ready to go....
-
Congrats on your date, I just found out my date is the day after yours on March 21.

What is the march bandster's official name for this year?
thin2bme replied to 🅺🅸🅼🅼🅸🅴🅺's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I vote for Shrinking Shamrocks, I'm being banded March 21. I went ahead and added the shamrocks to my signature too. This is great!! -
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you get your date soon, that would be great if we could be banded on or around the same time. It looks like your starting weight at your consultation is just about where I started at my initial consultation. I'm 5'4" so I'm going to shoot for a goal of 150-160 to begin with but might try to go lower when I get there. I'm going to have to add some exercise to my daily routine to help keep my metabolism going and have yet to do that. I'll get my rear in gear one of these days. Keep me posted on your date.
-
I just found out my surgery date, which is March 21 so I wanted to join the March bandster club and celebrate. I start my preop diet 2 days before surgery and I'm just now getting ready to explore the different protein drinks. I'll have to try Unjury since it appears to be a favorite.
-
Congrats on your surgery date. I also found out my surgery date a couple of days ago, it is March 21 and I am very excited. I also asked Dr. H about the 2 different bands, he said he didn't think either of them were better than the other, but I'd like get more information on both in case I decide to do one over the other.

Issues with speed...help!
thin2bme replied to aus_girl_1289's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I don't seem to be having any problems... -
I am so glad to hear that you're finally approved, that's great news. I see the surgeon on Monday and should receive my surgery date then, I am also so excited, this has been a long journey for me. Maybe we can go thru our journey together, keep in touch. Congrats again!!

Hi Anna, I work for AT&T, I was formerly under the SWBT/SBC umbrella and just recently in the last couple of weeks had my lapband surgery pre-approved thru UHC. I see the surgeon tomorrow. I would think being part of AT&T now should qualify you for surgery. I believe the qualifying factors are a BMI >40 and/or 2 co-morbidities. I also had to submit 5 years worth of doctor's records showing that I've been overweight for the last 5 years and have tried to lose weight. Definitely appeal.. Keep me posted. Hope this helps.

Does anyone know how many calaries are in these foods?
thin2bme replied to NOlanebryant's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I really like this website. You can search for foods at specific restaurants and/or just look up a food by brand or otherwise. Weight Loss - List by Brand Name - Restaurants - Nutrition Facts - DietFacts.com
