Diva, thanks for the Happy Dance, I need all the encouragement I can get. That awful scale is going to get the best of me, if I can't keep myself off of it all the time. Beginning tomorrow, I'm going to try to wean myself into weighing just twice a week, in preparation for weighing just once a week which I think will be better for me in the long run. I just can't bring myself to doing it just once a week yet, that darn scale!! Hopefully, when I weigh tomorrow, I won't have gained that 1.2 lbs back again!! Fenton, your steak dinner sounded wonderful. As for me, tonite I'm going to enjoy a bowl of chicken chili that I made a month or so back before surgery that was quick and easy to make in the crockpot. I got the recipe off of this website and it's full of Protein and was very tasty. I'm looking forward to it. If anyone wants the recipe let me know and I'll post it here. Harley glad to hear your scale finally moved, congratulations. I think you're the one who made mention the other day about everyone being stuck on this darn plateau, I'm hoping I'm over that hump now and hope to see the scale moving downward again too. Enjoy your walk, sounds like a good day for it. For me however, it's cold here today, so I'll opt for the treadmill.

how do you know if your band has slipped?
thin2bme replied to bill'swife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Bill's wife, Wendy's chili, yum yum, I hadn't thought of that, but I would say it's ok for the mushy stage, as long as you've been cleared for beef and chew, chew, chew. That gives me another menu item, thanks for asking about that, lol. -
My scale finally moved today for the first time in a week and a half, down another 1.2 lbs, woohoo. I've upped my exercise and been using the treadmill at least every other day now and going for 45 minutes each round plus I started, what I'm calling real food a couple of days ago, so now I'm enjoying chicken, beef, pork and a few other things. I'm still trying to keep my portions to no more than 4-5 oz of food and I am finding myself getting hungrier but with all of my Water in between food I'm doing ok. Good thing, since my first fill is still 2 weeks away. Keep up the good work everyone, we can do this!!

Egors girl, I'm glad everything went well, welcome to bandland!! Lynn, I agree with Denise, your posts are awfully tiny and my old eyes aren't as good as they used to be, you might change your font to make it a bit larger for all of us with bad eyes, lol. My scale finally moved downward for the first time in a week and half, I'm down another 1.2 lbs this morning, woohoo!!! -
Queen, yes, I had to 3 pre-op visits to the psychologist and now have to go once a month just to keep on track with things. I'm newly banded on March 19 and it really isn't too bad. Hang in there, you one step closer to banding!

It it okay to sleep on your side right after surgery?
thin2bme replied to Cheryl Ann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just banded March 19 and I was sleeping on my side. It didn't seem to hurt anything, however, on about day 9 or 10 I began to feel like some pulling inside so I called my surgeon's office and was told to try and not lie on my stomach, so I have tried to avoid lying on my side too just in case I was lying on my stomach some at the same time and the pulling sensation went away a few days later. As far as your cough goes, I had that too for about a week after coming home and I finally called the surgeon's office and asked about that too, they told me that I needed to call my regular doctor and tell them about the cough and to let them know I had lapband just done to get something for your cough. The nurse at the surgeon's office said it could dislodge your port. I think mine is ok and your's probably is too, but just letting you know what I was told. I'd call your doctor. -

Janet, that's wonderful news. How did it come about that you were chosen to do that, I think that would be an honor and something I'd like to do someday after I lose all my weight. Congrats!! -

Thanks Molly, I feel much better now too!! Today is the day 23 post op for me and I'm moving onto chicken breast, beef, pork, peanut butter, tuna salad, etc beginning today and so looking forward to it. I'll be on this stage for 2 weeks then I can have pretty much whatever I want, as tolerated. My first fill is April 25 and I can't wait, I need the restriction now.... -
Amanda, I know the feeling with the stuck scale syndrome, mine has teeter tottered back and forth plus or minus 1 lb the last week. My pshychologist made my goal this month to only weigh myself every other since I was weighing everyday and not seeing the results that I wanted to see. I agreed to that and it's been hard just doing every other day and even that doesn't seem to be making it go down. :huh2: She would rather I weighed no more than twice a week or once would be ideal. But I'm determined to do this, so can you. Remember, it took longer than a day to put our weight on and it will take just as long to take it off. Keep up the good work.

I've only been banded since March 19 and I take Zoloft and my doc said it was ok. No problems getting it down right now, but I haven't had a fill yet.

Where are you....and what do you do?
thin2bme replied to HarleyGirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi I'm Teri, I live in Kansas City, KS. Been banded March 19 and feeling good now, not really any restriction now and will go for my first fill on April 25. I'm married to my 2nd husband for 16 years and I have 1 grown son in the Marines from my first husband and 2 grown step-children from my current marriage plus 1 step-granddaughter from my current marriage which I claim as my granddaughter, she's 3 years old and is spoiled rotten. -
Ghost, thanks, I've got it on my calendar and plan on coming this time since I don't have to depend on DH to drive me this time. Hope to see you then.

Week 3 post-op... can I have scrambled eggs?
thin2bme replied to ponytail's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 week post op today and eggs were on my mushy list for Day 8-22 post op. Every doctor is different, I'd check with your doctor. -

Tami, Welcome to the fifties group. I'm also a March bandster, banded on March 19, this is a great group!! Egorsgirl, good luck on your surgery today, you'll do great, keep us posted. -
Ghost now that I'm 3 weeks out and feeling much better, I might be able to attend the other groups you told us about, when do they meet next, I'm going to try to attend, if I'm free.
-
Sorry to hear about your bad experience at the last support meeting. Not sure which meeting you attended, since I've only attended the meetings at SMMC, I don't think I said anything that would have offended anyone, but if I'm the one you're talking about, I apologize. So far I've had only positive things to say about the SMMC support meetings, other than the fact that group has gotten so big I don't have any problems.

Taking a quick short break here at work, I go home in less than hour, finally, it's been a long day. My schedule for food and Water has really been thrown off today, so now I'm behind in my liquids and I've only eaten a can of tuna for lunch and now I'm getting hungry again. I brought several things to eat today if I had the urge, but I've been trying to get my water and Protein drink down all day and just finished the water. At 5:00, I'm going to have some yogurt or pumpkin custard that i made the other day, not sure which, then I'll worry about more protein when I get home. Lynn, I brought to work to eat today, tuna, light salad dressing to moisten my tuna, yogurt, pumpkin custard (taste like pumpkin pie without the crust, yummy!), string cheese, and applesauce. Like I said I've only eaten the tuna so far. I'm going to have to get a better handle on my scheduling beginning tomorrow. Kerri, you look great, keep up the good work.

Erika, the staples coming out were a piece of cake. I could hardly tell he was doing anything and I know you'll feel 100% better. :purplebananna: Well I've gotten my Breakfast and lunch ready to go for in the morning, it's off to work I go for the first time since surgery March 19. Dreading going back, but have to pay bills, yuck, yuck!! I guess part of dreading going back is getting up @ 5:30 and having to be at work @ 7:00a.m. and working 10 hour days so don't get off til 5:30p.m. It will be a long day, but I'm sure I'll survive.

how do you know if your band has slipped?
thin2bme replied to bill'swife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on March 19th and I've also noticed the last couple of days that I seem to be hungrier and could eat more than I could before. I know that we supposedly don't have any restriction yet, but I'm trying not to eat more than 4 oz at one sitting because that's what my dietician told me to do. I've also wondered if my band might have slipped but have no way of knowing. I really think that I'm able to eat more now because the swelling has gone down in my stomach, but I'd also like to find out if someone knows how to know if your band has slipped. -
Debbie, sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother. This is a great place to come for support. You've done great on your weightloss so far, welcome aboard.
-
Fenton, I think that goal is probably doable for you. You've made me decide to set my next short term goal for 20 lbs by June 1. We leave on vacation June 1 and I'd love to be 20 lbs less!! Goodluck to you!

Welcome to all the new Shamrocks, this is a great support group. I wanted to share with everybody the device that I'm using to log my food and exercise daily. It's been a lifesaver for me. I'm not selling them or promoting it, just thought you guys might want to check it out. It's called a CalorieSmart calculator and you can get them online at CalorieSmart,Calorie Counter,Diabetes Diet,Handheld Calorie Counter,Electronic,Portable,Diabetes Carb Counter,Counting Carbs for $79 plus S&H. My DH got it for me for XMAS and also found a $10 off coupon online by searching for online coupons for their website. It's a handheld calculator that has nutrition references with nutritional content of over 35,000 different foods, including those from over 500 brands of food and 250 restaurants. It will track your daily calories, Protein, sodium, etc. It also tracks your exercise with calories burned and your weight. I carry it with me everywhere I go and enter every bite that I put into my mouth. Another neat thing that it does, it has a recipe calculator built into to it that allows you to enter the amounts and items that you put into your recipe and then it totals all the calories, protein, sodium, etc and lets you request the caloric details for 1 serving. I love it. Just thought I'd pass it along for anyone else that doesn't particularly want to keep a paper track or have to go to a computer to log their food.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot
thin2bme replied to IndioGirl55's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi DeeDee, You've come to the right place for answers to your questions, this website is great for that, however, I would suggest you go to a Lapband Seminar in your area and a lot of your questions will be answered there. Everyone here is always happy to give their opinions and answers but we're all in different stages of weightloss. I am newly banded, only a little over 2 weeks ago on March 19 and loving it. I am beginning to get a little hungry, but so far the band is keeping me from overeating, which is what we all hope for. I have not had a fill yet and I'm not scheduled for one til April 25 after my stomach is done healing. Currently, my dietician guidelines allow me to eat 2-4 oz at each meal and surprisingly enough I'm usually satisfied. Even though I am beginning to get hungry between meals since I'm only taking in between 400-600 calories a day, I don't mind having a protein snack in between meals. This has been a wonderful thing that I've done for myself and I look forward to keeping my weight off once it's all gone again!! If you want to know any more, I'll be glad to help if I can. -
Everyone List Your Total Weight Loss
thin2bme replied to thebonbon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery date was March 19. I was 283 when I attended lapband seminar in November, 2007. I lost 20 pounds pre-op. I was 263 the day I had surgery. I am 253 today for a total loss of 30 pounds since my lap band journey started!
