Have you had a leak in your port/tubing and had to have it replaced?
dchafin replied to DrewsLou's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That is what happened to me. One minute I had great restriction and the next day I had nothing. My band is still holding about 4cc but I do not feel hardly any restriction. I like having restriction too! I want to loose the weight also and it is hard when you pay so much money for this and not even a year out something goes wrong with the band and it is not our fault! Lapband needs to come up with a warranty or something cause this seems to be happening quite frequently. I hope my insurance will help but I think it is unlikely. Are they going to do a flouro to see where you band is leaking? -

I just went to the doctors to have a flouro and they could not see the leak. So now they want to do surgery to fix wherever the leak is. If it is just the port they want $6,000 and if it is in the band it will be $12,800. I am self pay and cannot afford anymore payments. They are going to go ahead and submit it to my insurance but I think we all know they will not cover it. But I guess it is worth a try. If not I will not have anything done because I cannot afford it. I will keep you informed about the insurance as soon as I find out. Is the lapband company going to reimburse you? -

I went to the doctor Friday and they said they would have to do surgery to find out were the leak is. I told them well I have been on the lap band talk forum and everyone has had a flouro to find the leak why can't I? The other Dr. said he would talk to the surgeon and they would decide. They are now going to do the flouro on Tuesday! At least I will see what cost I will be looking at to make the decision if I will have surgery or not. I will let you all know where my leak is after my appointment. -

I have a leak not sure yet if it is in the band or the port. I am self pay and I think I will have to pay out of my own pocket to have it fixed. I will not be able to have the leak fixed if this is the case. I cannot afford anymore payments. I have payed a lot of money to have this done to have a malfunction and it not be covered under some kind of warranty. Is there anyone who has any advise for me?:crying: Thank you! -

I am also self pay and I have a leak. It has not been a year since I had this surgery. Did you have to pay to have this fixed or did a warranty cover the cost? I am desperate to find out. I cannot afford another surgery.
