Hey pgirl, welcome! I was banded 2 days ago, so understand how you feel. You have so much support here that will help you, please stay around. Jen
-
Congrats grayl, I know how you feel, tomorrow you will probably feel better. Your new life has begun!
-
Oh forgot to add - the puppies were really good. Like they could sense that I was "fragile" and sat by my feet all night. They aren't big enough to jump on me, so I am lucky.

I had a bad night last night. I think my antibiotic got stuck. I had some pineapple juice and it seemed to fix it! I did get to sleep for about 6 hours last night in my own bed, tolerated lying down pretty well. Have had some V8 juice for Breakfast (it is a juice drink that has one serve of fruit and one serve of vegies in one drink). Thinking about trying some thin Soup for lunch.

Was Everyone Given Antibiotics Post-Op? If So...
greeneyez replied to Sunshine08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sent home yesterday with keflex for 7 days for prevention of infection. However, when you actually do have an infection (i.e. not for preventative measures) it is really important to take the full course prescribed. If you only take a few days of antibiotics during illness, the bacteria can become resistant to the antibiotic, making it more difficult to treat. Cheers, Jen -
Hi, I was banded only 1 day ago, but my Surgeon suggested weetbix for breakfast. Initially I will have to make it sloppy, but then just add less milk.

Thanks Chuckles, my time here is just after 6pm in Sydney. Mum picked me up from the hospital, but seriously, there isn't much anyone can do for me. My puppies did notice that I wasn't well and gave me lots of hugs this afternoon. My husband is coming home soon. He took yesterday off work to take me in, but in hindsight, he would have been more help having today off work. We had a terrible thunderstorm this afternoon and as my DH works for the electrical company, he got caught up. We need the rain as we are in drought, so I'm not complaining.

Hey Jess, Yes, I"m really uncomfortable. When I stand up, I feel like I can't stand straight, I'm like an old lady. I did have a fleeting moment of "what the heck have I done" at 2am this morning, the realisation that this is forever hit me. Now, with a little sleep and some Digesic, I feel a lot more positive. I'm drinking "up and go" - you know the "weetbix" drinks? I've also tried peppermint tea, but it is revolting. Did take some DeGas, so hope it works. I'm at home on my own (hubby got caught up at work with a major storm), so I want to thank all my buddies on here, you are a godsend! Jen

Congratulations Sula. I hope I can post a similar post next year at this time, I'm 1 day post op. I've passed the "what on earth have I done" phase and looking forward to the coming year. Well done on your loss, I know it isn't easy. Jen

Where are my ?? going!
greeneyez replied to parrot0927's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What's a Lucy and Ethel? By the way, I'm selling off my lost breast tissue, so if any of you wants any in the coming months, it's all yours! I wear in Australia an 18DD, not sure what size that is in US. -
I was excited but nervous. Then, at 2am following my surgery, I was wondering what the hell I had done to myself and that it is forever. Luckily, that has passed for now and see it as a positive. Tomorrow will be better. Jen

Sorry I couldn't wish you guys luck any sooner, I had my day yesterday. Hope you are all comfortable and your surgery goes/went well (sorry, I just can't figure out the time difference!) Jen

Hi Chuckles, 1 kg = 2.2 pound. So if you multiply 70 by 2.2 that will give you my goal in pounds. My surgeon thinks I can get to 65, but I don't remember being that weight! I thought about putting my ticker in pounds, it seems like a bigger amount when you lose! I didn't have a pre-op diet. My surgeon prescribes Optifast based on your waist measurement - lucky that is the smallest part of me! I am on 2 weeks of liquid diet - Soups (without lumps), optifast shakes, custard, yoghurt - anything that will go through a straw. It's not too bad, I just don't feel like it, but I'm pushing myself because I know I need the Fluid and energy. Hoping tomorrow is a better day, I've felt pretty miserable today, I'm at home on my own. Taking antibiotics and Digesic for pain relief. Not sure what brand name for Digesic is in US, but it has paracetamol and dextropropoxyphene in it.

Yeah, I know redtulips. I also get confused with everyone's surgery dates, I have to remember it is almost a whole day behind. Jen -

Hi Diane, Glad to hear you are well. I just got home from my overnight stay in hospital. Will tell my own longer story when I feel a little better. Congrats on being banded, Jen -
Hi Gillian, Good luck lovely! I'll see you on the other side, so to speak! We'll both be ok! Jen

question about the steri strips....
greeneyez replied to ch4251's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Cherrie, They should fall off on their own. I'm a nurse and can't see myself pulling them off in case I open up the wound before the strips are ready to come off. I'd call my Dr's rooms and ask. They should be coming off about now. Jen -
Hey RoseCity Girl, You are welcome and you will find that most people on the site will be able to relate to your story. Glad you posted, Jen

Happy Birthday Mojo! Sorry, have to tell you now, I'll be too busy to do it tomorrow!

Thanks Becky, I"m ready to leave the past behind me. Kathleen, I think when other bandsters get food stuck, which apparently causes immense pain, they drink some pineapple juice which helps it to move. Please tell me if I'm wrong guys!

Thanks guys, I'm just relaxing this afternoon. I'm so ready to do this! Will post when I get home. -
Hi Diane and Sandy, I'm not worried about excess skin, but my MIL doesn't mind reminding me. I know I will have excess skin under my arms and I will have to deal with that. If I have to have cosmetic surgery, so be it, at least I will be healthy and happy with being the girl I was in high school. I can't wait! Good luck Sandy, Jen
