    Banded 2 days ago, BLOATED!

Hi Guys, The extra weight may be due to the fluids they gave in hospital. Remember that 1 bag of fluid weighs about 2 pounds. The sore throat may last just a few days and feel a little scratchy. I lost 3 pounds in my 3 days post op, but had actually gained about 600g on the morning after my surgery. Jen Jen

    10:30 tomorrow morning!

Hi April, It took me about 3 days for the swelling go down. I woke up in the morning and it was gone. Jen
  3. Ok, I can't follow this. I can't keep up with the new posts and I still miss the button.

    No Progress

I agree with everyone else - I suggest you go back to your Dr and ask their opinion, maybe an unfill, or see a dietician.

What would you do if you weren't "big"?

THis is the best thread!! Thanks! Ok, here's my list: 1. Be able to ski ALL the way to the bottom and not stop every 10 seconds. 2. Be able to buy pretty ski bunny outfits, instead of XXXL men's ski gear. 3. Think that people are commenting about how hot I look, not how fat I am. (I constantly feel people are pointing and commenting) 4. Not wear granny shoes - I want to wear sexy high heels without sore feet after half an hour. 5. Wear fashionable young clothing instead of tents designed for the older generation. 6. Be able to fit into an aeroplane seat without the passenger next to me suffocating - I have managed not to use a seat belt extender, but you know what I mean. 7. Be known as hot, not the pretty fat girl. 8. Be the same size as my 2 sisters and parents, instead of the fat odd one out. 9. Be able to see my feet! 10. Have sex with my husband - you can't get pregnant without it!
  6. Glad we are not alone! Hey I sneezed last night - OMG! I couldn't lay on my side for a while after that! At least it was only one and not a trio!
  7. Hey hsbeach! I'm so glad it worked for you! It is a natural aid for digestion. Jen
  8. Hey Brooke, Congrats! You will find answers to many of your questions, and some you never thought to ask on this site - my advice is to spend as much time as you can reading through the posts to prepare yourself. YOu will get a lot of support from the lovely people on this site - they have been invaluable in my journey to being banded. Keep in touch, Jen

    They Just Don't Understand

Hey guy, I'm with Sades! I'm 32 and have been overweight for 16 years - half of my life! My life would be completely different if I hadn't been overweight - I guess I would be more outgoing, would have had greater self esteem and all the other things that go with being healthy weight. I commend you for taking charge of your life - just do a lot of research before you make a lifetime commitment to banding. Good luck, Jen

    First step!

Congrats Chaos! Being here is one of the best things in my life - the support you get from other bandsters is immense and extremely helpful. Keep us posted, Jen
  11. Hi!! Congrats! Being nervous is a normal reaction, and quite frankly, I'd be worried if someone wasn't nervous! I'm a nurse and was also nervous about surgery as I had never had it before. The one thing that helped me was reading the threads on this board - I knew I had made the right decision. Particularly, there is a thread on whether you are happy with the band - many people all say that they never regretted their decision and are so happy with the results - this really helped me. Ask many questions and be prepared - PM me if you need to ask anything, I'm sure I can steer you in the right direction. Take care, Jen

    Newbie in Sunny AZ!

Hey Kitten, Good luck with your journey to BandLand. Jen
  14. Hi Kristin, Spend a lot of time reading posts here, that is how I prepared myself for the unknown. I felt more in control when I knew what was coming. My Surgeon said when he came to see me 30mins prior to surgery "are you ready to have a second birthday?" The 15th Jan is forever going to be a special day for me, Good luck, Jen

    Blessed in KS

Hi Blessed! Congrats! What would you like to know? I had the surgery 4 days ago, so feel free to PM me and ask away! Everyone's experience is different, so the pre-op/post-op thread is a wealth of information - read read read, it helps you to prepare and have some idea of what you can expect. Jen

    Happy New Year from Nebraska

HI Kristin, I'm in Australia. We luckily don't have to jump hoops to get approved and I only had to wait a short time. I have told a few people, I figure that the rumour mill will take care of the people who don't know! Nurses can be such gossip queens! Good luck with your journey, I wish you the best, Jen

How Many Last Meals ... ?

I have to say, I didn't feel the urge. I did take notice of the things I was eating and that I wouldn't be able to eat them anymore, but they were everyday things - like a toasted sandwich, for example. I made my husband a cheesecake, but just didn't feel like bingeing like I usually would.

    Home & Banded

Congrats saleel! I was also taking capadex and felt really bad, nauseous and dizzy. I stopped taking them and I have felt really good since. Yes, I"m also struggling with drinking enough Water and i'm also bored. I'm not supposed to drive for a week! I'll be nuts by then! Take care and keep me posted, Jen

    I'm home and banded!

Hi all, I just got home this morning from my surgery yesterday (15th!). I've been pretty sore - kind of like I have done a million crunches. I went to the hospital at 7am and was taken to my room. I put my "special" gown on and my precious little hat and was taken to the theatre at about 9.15. My gorgeous anaesthetist put my IV in first go and gave me some sedation. That was the last thing I remember. I woke up back in my room, although a do remember snippets from recovery. I was in pain and had some pethidine. I was started on Water to sip, which I really didn't feel like, but I tried. I shared a room with another bandster who was feeling it a lot more than me. I've had a little sleep and feel a little better. The hospital experience was pretty good, I can't complain, although it felt like the longest night! Sipping lots, Jen

    I'm home and banded!

Thanks Jennifer and Diane. It is true when people say the worst has passed - today I just felt like a new woman! And I've lost 4 pounds since Tues!
  23. I went to the search field at the top and typed in new posts - seems to be ok.
  24. Definitely!! I open my mouth and nothing comes out. I used to burp non-stop, this is wierd. Where do you live? Some people say milk of magnesia or gas-x strips work. i haven't tried them
  25. Hi Karla, I have tried to resize for you. You look HOT! Jen
