Hi all, I'm having my band on 15th Jan. I love this place for all of your support, questions I never thought to ask, problems I didn't know existed etc. 2008 is going to be a better year for us all. I'm going to make the most of it and hope that at Christmas, my relatives don't recognise me! (The ones I see only once per year anyway!) Good luck to everyone, lucky I don't have a pre-op diet to worry about - sorry for mentioning it! Jen:whoo:

Foot pain...get better after lapband??
greeneyez replied to weightisover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is just the best thread. I'm so glad I will feel feminine again with heels once the weight is off. Thank you to all who have posted. -
Hi Gwen, Today I feel awesome! Soreness all but gone (just a little in my port side). I went shopping and I went to the GP - my incisions will be lucky to even have a scar! I'm so happy. Jen

Yep, knee high boots and high high stilletoes are first on my list once I reach almost goal!

Hi guys, Today (day 7) I feel fantastic! I went to the Dr to take my dressings off this morning and they look great - I would be suprised if you can see a scar. I went shopping and basically had a good time. Hope you all feel better with more energy, I think I just got past the hungry weak feeling. Jen

Gee, I must have missed something. I'm sorry that you experienced this though. I would like to think that everybody is accepted here - we've all experienced the attitudes towards being overweight and I would have though that we were more open-minded.

Hi Nay, Welcome and good luck! JEn

Hi Chuckles, I number of people have used some of their superannuation to fund their surgery when they don't have private cover. Maybe you could try that! I'll be about $3500 out of pocket I think, but I'll know more once I have gone to my fund this afternoon, Jen

Hi Nikki! Welcome! It's nice to see another Aussie here (even if you are a long way away!) Jen
-
Hey Amy, It is totally normal!! I actually suprised myself and didn't wonder if I was doing the right thing before surgery! I was just so darn excited to have it done. It wasn't until I woke up that I wondered if I had done the right thing - now I know it was definitely the right thing to do. If you weren't nervous and excited, I'd be worried. Good luck! Jen

after considerable weight loss how are you treated by friends and family?any haters?
greeneyez replied to andraa's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi all, I was wondering the same thing. Most of my friends and family have been supportive. I'm just womdering what it will be like to be close to goal. I can just see the comments coming "you're too skinny now, is anything wrong?" "you've lost too much weight and look sick" "don't you think you are taking it too far?". Well, of course when I am the size of a cow and suddenly look like a normal human being, I'm going to look too skinny, even with a BMI in the healthy weight range! -
Good luck tomorrow's bandsters, be it the 21st or 22nd wherever you are! Jen
-
That's great Saleel, glad to hear you are getting better. I've only just started getting port pain, for some reason. I see my GP tomorrow and my dietician/surgeon next week. I've lost 3 kilos this week, how are you going, or haven't you weighed yourself? Jen

Hi Peg, Welcome! I was banded 6 days ago and still on my liquid diet. Good luck with your banding date this month, I'll be looking out for your post! Jen

Foot pain...get better after lapband??
greeneyez replied to weightisover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you so much for asking the question. I also have plantar fasciitis and I'm tired of wearing ugly shoes with orthotics. I'm also tired of cutting short shopping sprees because I was in pain! -
Good point Laurend, I hope my glass rings still fit! I got a stack of them. On the other hand, I no longer need to resize my wedding ring!
-
Better out than in, I say! I wish I could burp like I used to, but now they are pathetic, little and quiet!

"Popping" Sensation In Stomach
greeneyez replied to Kalia Jade's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't know about the pulling and how long it lasts....I'd definitely call your Dr and ask about the popping, though. -
Congrats LA! I also had nausea, but it settled once the pain meds stopped. With the liquid stage - tough it out - I'm still on it, but sure that it is worth it somehow!! Take care, Jen
-
I was thinking the same thing, pity I am in Sydney Australia. Any other Aussies want to take part?
-
Ok, so I'm on day 6 of my liquid diet and I'm back to the I'm not hungry stage. I'm weak from not having too many calories but I'm really forcing myself to at least have something. Gone are the starving days where I just couldn't get enough. I've never had to force myself to eat before!
-
I'm always tired. I've been having a nap in the afternoon. I'm on liquids for another week I slept in my bed ok since the first night - it was just last night that I struggled - I think the low calories gave me really wierd dreams and kept waking me up!
-
How few calories are you taking in post-op?
greeneyez replied to With His help's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry Diane! I don't know how you are doing it. I feel weak enough on my diet! -
"Popping" Sensation In Stomach
greeneyez replied to Kalia Jade's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Glitter, I didn't have that sensation, just a stretching feeling when I stood up - I even walked around a little stooped at first. It's possible that it is the gas that they pumped into your abdomen at the start of surgery moving around, but might be a good idea to contact your Dr. -
Tomorrow is the big day!
greeneyez replied to jazzygirl40's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Donna, Good luck, it didn't hit me that it was real until I woke up after my surgery! Try the tutorial link below for your ticker and pm me if you get stuck! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/ Good luck!
