List for the overnight hospital stay
greeneyez replied to citygirl4616's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm also taking my ipod. It might make the potentially long night go a little faster! Oh, and the book I didn't read when I went on my cruise in December. What was I thinking? -
Is it possible to really vomit with the band?
greeneyez replied to tansey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Jean, I know what you are saying, my band date is fast approaching and I feel a little nervous myself. -
Hi Carol, Yes, I am staying overnight. I may also be having a hernia repair, so may be more than one night. Yeah, I am so rejoicing about no diet, but I have decided to go easy this week, starting to get used to not eating so much. Had an entree size meal last night, it wasn't too bad. Keep in touch/pm me to let me know how you are going. Jen

Hi Carol, Absolutely! My family has a history of blood clots (my sister, dad, aunt and grandmother) so I am being extra careful and already wearing my sexy stockings! Jen

Is it possible to really vomit with the band?
greeneyez replied to tansey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Tansey, My surgeon told me the same thing. He also said that if I was going away, he'd unfill the band until I got back, to save any hassles with finding someone who knows what they are doing! All I can say is that you have to be careful. I will be banded in a week and hope that I can avoid being sick for the rest of my life! He also said that during pregnancy he will let it out - I guess morning sickness is a risk too. hope this helps, Jen -
Things People Pass Off For Compliments and Things Skinny People Say That Piss You Off
greeneyez replied to j_war06's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I can so relate to all of these comments. I've had the "you have such a pretty face", "you aren't fat, you are cute", "you might be overweight but you don't look sick like whats-her-name", "you carry it well" and the most recent one when I said I was going back on my diet after a recent cruise, a family friend said "what diet?". It's hurtful now, but in six months when I have lost a stack of weight, I will just laugh! -
Endoscopy done--Hiatial Hernia found
greeneyez replied to Healthy Grandma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Helen, I have had reflux and indigestion for 2 years and my surgeon is doing an endoscopy tomorrow to look for hiatal hernia. He said he will fix it at the same time he does the band. Will let you know how I go tomorrow. Cheers, Jen -
Hi Mel, I don't think any question on the boards is a dumb one, I am being banded on the 15th Jan in Sydney and like you, want to be prepared. Good luck, Jen

New Years Knock-Out Logo for signatures

Cute! Can I use it? -
That's so great to hear you are doing so well. Mine is in 1 wk and it is good to hear surgeries that went well. DOn't worry about the belching, he was probably jealous he couldn't do it. Cheers!

Sorry to hear that Laurend. Take care x

Hi Sharona, I'm also having my workup. I'm having a gastroscopy tomorrow to check for any abnormalities that could be fixed the same time I have my surgery. I've had my bloods checked and I'm being banded on 15th Jan. Good luck!

Forgot to add my name! So excited my life is about to start without the psychology that comes with being overweight!
-
HI Danna, I've already written a list of things to do this week. Lucky my annual leave started yesterday - I was so glad I could fit my surgery in before I have to go back to work. I have 2 weeks off post op, so I should be ok. I had to buy pyjamas of all things! What did you eat/suck in the liquid phase? No, I can't not go to the gym with my surgeon behind the wall!
-
HI Danna, Nikki and feebs, I have decided to go with a surgeon closer to work (across the road!). He also has a gym at his rooms, with free access. All the extras that Dr B has, but optional. I"m being banded at Holroyd Private on 15th Jan. No pre-op diet, praise the lord! Hope you had a lovely New Years, Jen

Try adding coffee to the chocolate optifast, with ice cubes and blended - kinda like a mocha thickshake. Makes it bearable, anyway!

I used to live in Frankston, but moved to Sydney. I lived in Bondi Avenue.

Anyone else have another surgery with the lapband?
greeneyez replied to dianegoe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Diane, I might be having a hernia fixed at the same time. I have to have a gastroscopy before my surgery date to check. -
I started taking my vitamins for my Jan 15 surgery, but have stopped taking ibuprofen. I'm just taking a women's multivite.
-
Hi Gillian, My surgery date is Jan 15. We're all here to support each other. The boards are a great place to get your questions answered and meet some friendly people. Good luck and keep in touch with the Jan Bandsters! Jen
-
Hi all, My surgery date is 15th January. I'm from Sydney, Australia. Saleel, we're almost buddies! Keep in touch! Jen

Hi all, I've had a whirlwind experience. I only saw my GP just over a week ago and I"m booked in for banding on the 12th Jan. I have to have a gastroscopy first and may need a hernia repair at the same time. I'm so excited. Best thing is, my surgeon doesn't want me to do the Optifast thing pre-op as he says that my waist is small - I've never had my waist being useful before! Will keep you all posted and hope that by Christmas 2008, I will be back at normal weight! Happy New Year, Jen

Hi Thistledo, I am from Sydney and have my first appointment with my Surgeon's team next Monday. I am also afraid of vomiting! You are right, the oz site is fairly quiet, this forum is heaps better. You could try the Australian bandsters thread to find other Aussies. Good luck with your surgery. Try adding a teaspoon of coffee to your chocolate Optifast (last time I tried to lose weight, that's what I did with it!). It makes it bearable. Keep in touch, it will be nice to have another aussie going through the same thing. Jen

Hi Suzanne, I'm sorry that you still have to use it and that you become uncomfortable with it on. I hope that with your weight loss, you can eventually lose the CPAP. Hope that your Dr can help you. Jen
