A pound of cure..Dr Mathew Weiner
jennjarrid posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone heard of this doctor and if so do you follow his way of eating? -
Hi. Does anyone have experience with anthem? I have it through my employer and my bmi is 35 and I have sleep apnea and high blood pressure. I'm so worried about getting approved.
-
I know that heartburn can be mistaken for hunger. I'm about 4 months out from surgery and for the past couple weeks I've been getting extra hungry. Do you think maybe I need to increase my PPI dose?
-
Does anyone find that crystal light gives them belly bloat?

Thank you for your replies.

This question is for those who got to goal weight. Did the last 10 pounds make a big difference appearance wise? I'm 5'0 and I'm hoping that it makes a big difference for me.
-
Thanks. That gives me hope!

Prior to surgery my core was already pretty strong. Since I resumed working out since surgery I'm finding that my core isn't as strong as it used to be. Do you think that it's due to they surgery?

Does anyone find that quest bars make them bloated?

Is it true that we won't feel the effects of Ghrelin reduction until we have healed?
-
Does anyone have suggestions for snacks that are non dairy and non starches? Thanks

I agree with your comment. I'm not craving bad food either nor have I had any. I eat protein as well and I exercise. Just because we are feeling hunger doesn't mean that we aren't complying with our surgery or its "head hunger".
-
I know what head hunger feels like it this isn't head hunger
-
I just started on a ppi and I know that it's not head hunger. I'm not craving bad foods and I haven't ate any bad foods.
-
So once I heal it will get better?
-
Are protein bars a trigger food for anyone?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I've been doing so well until I started eating them. I need to stay away from anything that serves as a "substitute for sweets".

Slowed weight loss
jennjarrid replied to jennjarrid's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for sharing that! -
I'm about 10 days out from surgery and have lost 13 pounds and looks like weight loss has slowed down. I started with a low bmi to begin with and I know that weight loss is slower. But I can't help but to think the slowed weight loss is an indication of my success. I had a hard time losing weight without surgery and because of that I feel that I'm going to be one of those one in a million people that won't have success from surgery. Anyone relate?

Slowed weight loss

Thank you. -
I was just recently sleeved and I'm starting to research on what happens about a year later and how to maintain weight loss. I've heard that basically it's very hard to maintain weigh loss. I'm aware that weight will always be a struggle but the comments I've seen is that it's almost like our stomaches almost go back to normal. Like we have this open window of time to lose weight after that it closes completely and people are able to eat much more food. But then I read that other people can eat more than they did right after surgery but not nearly as much prior to surgery. I'm starting to think that those who really struggle with maintenance and are able to eat much more started to fall back into bad habits and instead of taking responsibility for it blame it on the sleeve. Sorry for the long post! Any thoughts?

Oh ok. Thanks -
How do you plan your daily menu for this stage? For example do you plan it as breakfast lunch and dinner with one or two snacks?
