Where are all the NYC bandsters? I’ve just joined and am newly banded (9 days and counting). I’ve been reading all the posts and they have been very helpful. But I was hoping to find more bandsters near me. Anyone out there??

Hi Everyone, Just wanted to stop in say I hope everyone had a great Valentines Day. I tried to sign on earlier but the site was not working. I’m off to Atlanta tomorrow and I still have to pack, Iron, etc. I have to leave at 5:30 in the morning and that will be painful to get up for! I’ll be back Thursday and will check in then. Congratulations Sherry!
-
And the final total is……29.6” of snow – the biggest on record!! Yup – I still have work tomorrow. I’ll be getting out my snowshoes since my dog sled is broken. Good luck Sherry and update us all as soon as you feel up to it. Welcome Michele. What part of NY are you from? Beanie – how are you? Are you still at IKEA?!:biggrin1: Okay … I'm off to bed since my prayers for a snow day tomorrow did not come true….

WOOOHOOOO!!! 23" of snow in Central Park and its still coming down!! They say its the second biggest blizzard to hit the city since the 1947 and we might beat that record yet! This could not have happened during the week so I can get a free snow day and not go to work?? Snow ball fight anyone? Sherry - good luck tomorrow! I'm heading out in the snow for a bit, I won't get very far but I love the city in the snow. It is soooo quiet the only thing you see are kids with sleighs heading to the park. No cars!! I'll be back in a bit since I will be stuck in the house the rest of the day.

Happy Blizzard Day here in NY/NJ! Eileen – thanks for asking about Mom, she is much better. Hmmm you might have something there about the split personalities. Oh well we won’t let them get us down. I thought about going to grocery store but your right the lines will be crazy I’ll make do with what I have. I have my Netflix movies, coffee and dinner so I’m good! Besides I’m an Olympic fanatic so I get to watch it all this weekend! Will you be taking DD sleigh riding? Cindy – I meant to also say he had a right to put state his opinion and not get attacked for it because I don’t believe it was meant to be mean, but not everyone would realize that. Oh well…. That’s why I stay mostly on our NJ thread! So…. I think I burned the candles at both ends… I’m sick as a dog with a major cold and swollen glands. I had to cancel the weekend with my nieces since I can’t risk getting them sick. I also cancelled attending my training conference. But I’m still going to Atlanta for my presentation on Wednesday. I’m counting on being better by then because I will need the warm weather after the snow this weekend. Help - Does anyone know what type of cold medicine is okay to take? My doctor did not return my phone call (pissed me off!) and now I’m afraid I’m taking the wrong stuff. Beanie – step away from the IKEA!!! I love the place too but geez… did you not just have surgery? Milk it for everything its worth and rest up, lay on the couch and have DH treat you like the Queen you are! Patty – did you get the new hair cut? How are the boys? Anne – I saw the Dr Phil show (love my DVR!). I though both the mothers on that show were did not take any responsibility at all. Very sad. Dianne - relax, the band will go back in! You have been so positive throughout this I think that is amazing. I think I would have gone nuts! Thanks for the Clifford analogy, now when I read to my nieces I’ll have that in my head! Sherry – the countdown is almost over to your big day! Very exciting! Any great plans this weekend? Sorry about the bigmouths not keeping it to themselves. So I’m tucking in and getting ready for the snow! What does everyone have planned for the weekend?

Cindy - I forget to say congratulations on the scale moving!

Cindy – you must be reading my mind! I was thinking the same thing about all the negative posts recently, there have been quite a few. I read the PDA thread (I couldn’t find it again tonight??). I think that some people got upset because personal beliefs were also posted that were critical of an alternate lifestyle. And as soon as someone has been offended look out the posts fly at each other! Two specific posts in the beginning of thread come to mind for me. I understood that the threads main point was how PDA can be obnoxious and I think the thread would have been fine if it was left at that. But I did not feel it was appropriate (my opinion only) to add the comment that it was wrong to be gay (I forget the exact quote but that is how I read it). As soon as I read that comment I knew it was going to get some angry responses. And what for? Was it necessary to make that comment knowing that it might offend people? I know that everyone is entitled to their opinion and I love and respect that right. But I also think that as adults we need to be careful with what we say in a public forum. It’s a fine line and I don’t know if it’s a good thing that we need to watch what we say but I think its reality. People are sensitive and can misinterpret things easily so when in doubt don’t say it or if you do be prepared for backlash, justified or not. That’s just my opinion and I hope I did offend anyone. But these negative posts and squabbles are bringing me down!

Hi Everyone, I’ve been reading but have not had time to post much lately. Work is crazy for me I’m in the middle of reviews for my staff which I hate doing. It’s so easy to find the good things to say but the tough conversations are not much fun! Plus we have this 25 page document that we need to fill out for each person… it takes me hours for one person! I leave Sunday night for a leadership conference for 2 days and then fly to Atlanta on Wednesday for a conference that I have to give a presentation at. Do you think I’ve even started the presentation? Of course not! I’ve been trying to get to the gym but its tough and to top it all off I think I’m getting a cold….. Okay now that I whined a bit and got that off my chest!...... Beanie – I remember the drug induced 18 hour sleep fest! Ahhhh the memories! You are so right about the food bills. Since I’ve been banded I cannot believe how much money I’ve been saving. Another bonus of the band! Eileen – So glad the fill worked! Take it easy the next few days. How much did they fill? Glad that the crunch thing worked… Pat – Congratulations on the new car! I say you just keep trading in every few months! Patty – now I’m curious about your weird day at work! I have days when I’m in a silly mood at work too. Like today where I found myself rambling in my boss’s office, finally he just looked at me and said “go get some coffee you are making no sense” Good thing we get along really well! Betty – I hope you hear back soon from your interview. Keep writing those letters! Anne – Yup Eileen is the Mom here! I’m almost afraid to ask what roles the rest of us are! Cindy – or should I say Lead Foot Cindy?! How is everything with you? Hope everyone else is doing well…. I’m off to catch up on my tv shows! Have a good night!
-
Beanie! I’m so glad you are home and resting! Keep us posted!
-
YES!!! A fellow New Yorker :biggrin1: ! Where were you banded? Welcome!
-
Hi Everyone! Beanie - Sending good thoughts you way for your big day tomorrow! As soon as you are up to it let us know how you are doing (and how good the drugs are!). Eileen - Agh! I'm sorry you had a bad fill (or lack of) experience. My dr has be lay on my back and then lift my legs (like abdominal crunches) my port practically pops out of my skin and makes it easy to find - maybe that will help you? Okay - I'm exhausted after spending the weekend with my nieces. They just love to wake me up really early in the morning to play. Being single with no kids I' used to sleeping late on weekends so a 6:30 wake up call is pretty painful even if its 2 angels doing it! Hope everyone has a good night and enjoys the rest of the Super Bowl.
-
As usual I'm running late and have not had time to catch up on all the posts. I wanted to quickly wish everyone a good weekend! I'm going down the Jersey shore to see my nieces for the weekend and will be back Sunday night. Beanie - oooohhhh it's getting to be that time!!!
-
I just started a water aerobics class which I love. The class busted my myth of water aerobics - it really is a tough workout!! I go 3-4 days a week for 45 minutes a class. My gym just started offering real Pilates (machines not mat) so I'm going to check that out too but it's during the day so I'm not sure I will always be able to leave the office and make the class in time.

I feel a new thread for quitting smoking coming on..... My company just iniated a smoking cessation program and will pay for the patch! Oooohhhh am I ready for this?? :omg: !!!
-
What a great idea! Especially when we have tough days, it can remind us why we did this and help keep us on track. I’m starting my list now and will post it where I will see it everyday! Thanks for the idea!

OMG! I finally stopped laughing enough to type! This thread is hysterical! I think I’ll hit the sack now… I hear Jack calling …. :laugh

So Mother Nature is having a laugh at us… first there was 2 days of sunny 60 degree weather, I was outside walking in Central Park without a coat and then WHAM… rain and cold! Nope can’t get to comfortable here! Dianne – hang in there, it sounds like you are coping the best you can and keeping as much as of positive attitude as you can given the situation. Beanie & Sherry – WOW! Time flies! I can’t believe you are both being banded so soon! It’s so exciting! And Beanie you are doing much better than I did… burgers & fries were my diet right up until the surgery. Sherry – your Monday at work sounded like a rough one but thankfully the pain in the butt account manager got what he deserved! It’s all about the karma and eventually people show their true colors and everyone knows it. Patty – that sounds so horrible, I’m sorry you had to deal with such a horrible situation; it turns my stomach every time I hear about child abuse. It may be naïve but that is the exact reason why I will not watch the local news, it’s the first thing you see. Just last week a little girl was beaten to death in NY. Eileen – hope you get that fill on Friday! How is everything with you? Cindy – how did you survive the Benadryl high with the kids?! It always knocks me out! Betty – how are you? How is the job search? Not much going on with me, Mom is doing much better, work is crazy (as usual) and more importantly I have finally fallen into a routine at the gym! I’m on 4 days a week schedule for now… eventually I’ll add more days but for now it’s a start! How is everyone else this week?
-
Hi Everyone, Sorry I haven’t posted in a week I had problems with the connection at home but the cable guy came this morning and fixed the issue! Beanie – I had a feeling the finger picture would make the post! Totally fine with that and sharing my face with everyone in email but not a post. I can’t explain it other than I hate the thought of my picture out there for the entire world… maybe it’s the cynical New Yorker in me! I felt so bad that I did not really get to say goodbye to you & Eileen. When we came out of the restaurant I could not believe that the bus was right in front of us and had to jump in front of it so I didn’t miss the bus back home. Eileen’s DD is so adorable!! I’m going to read through all the posts for the week and catch up on everything. Then….it’s time for me to go do the laundry. Yuck…. There isn’t laundry in my building so I have truck all my laundry a few blocks to get it done. Yup – a day off and all I’m doing is chores!
-
Well I’m finally home after all week taking mom to a million doctors. Long story short… she has COPD (pulmonary disease) next stop is emphysema if she does not quit smoking now. The emergency room visits were a result of severe nose bleeds that needed to be packed 3x and also caused a painful ear infection (took 3 days and several doctors to find that out). So anyway… I’m back home and trying to catch up on all the postings I’ve missed. Very exciting… I’m meeting Beanie and Eileen in the morning for coffee:tea: I finally figured out a bus line that gets me out there! I’ll post more once I read through all the postings from everyone!
-
Sneaking on at work.... I got back late last night from my Mom's and am now going back down tonight to meet with a pulmonary doctor tommorrow morning. Hopefully I can get some direct answers from this doctor. I'll be back again tomorrow night and will post more. Needless to say it's one thing after another and I'm exhausted....thanks everyone for your support! Okay I checked the hotel address with NJ Transit and they said there is no bus route to that area. Impossible!!! Anyone else know where there is a train station near Pearl River? What other towns are nearby? Help me out here the farthest north I know is Wayne NJ!
-
Sometimes our firewall and security settings change in our company and occasionally we get access to sites we normally can’t. Something told me to check today and lo and behold…. I have access at work!!! Shhhhh don’t tell anyone!!! Good day for me to check in – the voodoo dolls worked!!!! CONGRATULATIONS RENEE!!!! I’m so excited for you! That is great news!!! I’m heading down to my Mom’s tonight; she went to the emergency room again last night. I’m going with her to her doctor tomorrow morning to try to get some answers. So I probably won’t be able to check back in until Friday or Saturday… Congratulations again Renee!
-
Hi Everyone, Well I just got back from the gym! Yeah!!! The weather is amazing here….it’s supposed be close to 60 again tomorrow!! Dianne – what game on Sunday  ??? I don’t think the Giants even showed up! I got so much grief in the office on Monday! Well I guess I have to get over it and find some other team to root for in the SB. Cindy – pink eye! Eeeewww! I had it once and it was not fun! To chime in on the celebrity thing… I’m just nosy so I always want to know how other people lose weight...but, I agree with that celebrities are not required to tell the world everything. I saw Star Jones on Good Morning America this week and she said she is not telling specifically how she lost the weight because she does not want to be a spokesperson for a specific weight loss plan. Okay .. I respect that but still want to know!! Beanie – Fingers are crossed and the voodoo dolls are out for good news on your independent medical review!! What is the exact address of where you are staying in NJ? I’m sorry I forgot and can’t find the info on your previous post. Time to check Map Quest and NJ Transit again and figure out how to get there! Not much going on with me…I spent the weekend with my nieces …I know I’ve said it before but it’s worth saying again… Mom’s with young children are amazing …I don’t know how all of you do it. I was exhausted after 3 days!!! It was so much fun! I love being the favorite aunt and playing with them non stop. There is nothing better than getting a million hugs “just because”! Betty - My crossed fingers are working overtime for you for good news on the new job! Well I think I smell my dinner burning so I better run… Have a good night everyone!

Hi Everyone, Okay it was bad enough with the tempting Cookies Betty made but now Yodels and Girl Scout Cookies??…. Your killing me!!! If someone mentions Ben & Jerry next I will be on suicide watch ! I’ve been slowly and reluctantly easing back into work this week after having time off… Ugh! Good thing is that I have so much vacation time left that I have to take by the end of the month… so I will only be working 3 days a week for the rest of the month!! Yeah!! Eileen – see the ball drop in person? Are you crazy?! No way – it is way too crowded for me. I had to go to Toys R Us in Times Square in the afternoon and it was already jammed with people that I could barely cross the street. I hate crowds and have sidewalk rage when people walk to slow on the street can you imagine me in Times Square? I would be arrested for multiple homicide! I escaped to New Jersey for the weekend! Not much going on with me ..I’m just trying to be more careful about eating. Like most people I ate too much during the holidays and my fill was not behaving. One day chicken is fine the next day I eat two bites and barely make it the bathroom in time to PB. Since that’s happened a bunch of times now I am being extra careful. I’ll be hitting the gym for the first time in a long time tomorrow. No dreadmill for me… just swimming and yoga. That’s a start for now… Time to watch the Rose Bowl…..Have a good night everyone…

Hi Everyone, I wanted to check in and say HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone!! I'm at my best friends in NJ to celebrate, they have a big party every year. I'll post more when I get back to NY (or sober up!!!!) Have a great, safe New Year!!!
