I have only recently joined. From a newbie view point I can say that everyone and I assume that includes members of what are referred to as a “clique” have been nothing but welcoming, supportive, motivating and helpful to me. This place has always made me feel safe and comfortable to ask questions, share experiences (good and bad) without judgment – how many places can you say does that? I’m sorry that you feel your experience here has not been as good. Maybe another site is better for you where you can find the support you need and you feel as welcomed as I have here. However, I think as many have said to you – they are willing to continue to support you and only request that you respect everyone here and the importance of the site for everyone. I think that is only fair.

Jini I live on the second floor, the stairs were no problem for me hours after surgery. It was the sitting down that hurt! You should be fine if you have someone there to help you. Glad you enjoyed Thanksgiving!! -
You guys sure are early risers! I can not drag myself out of bed before 10am on the weekends... The weather has been great and I've been getting my walking in as much as possible. Even did some early holiday shopping. The NY marathon was today and the runners pass by 1 block from me so I went and cheered them on for awhile. Who knows... maybe one day that will be us ! Beanie - bucking the system is a good thing - way to challenge authority! Eileen - Congratulations on the 13 lbs! That is great! When do you get to go on mushies / soft foods? Now I have to motivate myself to get out and go grocery shopping.. not as much fun as it used to be! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Hi Amos My post op diet is similiar to yours in how quickly the doc had me off liquids and on food. Liquids 48hours, 2 weeks pureed/mushies, 2 weeks soft solids (now) and then regular food. I stay away from all sugar (how I miss my best friend Pepsi!). I also was getting very anxious about not losing once I was off liquids. I've noticed since I switched from pureed to soft solids my weight loss has slowed (1.5lbs last week). Then I panicked - what's going to happen once I get to solids? From reading all the posts I think that this is normal. I keep telling myself to wait it out... see what its like after a few weeks on solid food. By then hopefully my body will have adjusted from everything its been through and I will have found what works for me. If not and I'm not losing then its time to start the quest for the perfect fill and restriction. Either way instead of freaking out I have to constantly tell myself -"I will figure it out one way or another" and you will too!

That explains the pain! Great info - thanks! -
Hi Barbara, I was banded 3 weeks ago today (can't believe it's been 3 weeks already) so I'm a beginner like you! We can trade tips together. I'm on soft solids now and do not feel any restriction so the 64 oz of Water has been suprisingly easy for me so far (as I type and sip). For me I just need to remember to drink it! My trick - as soon as get into the office I fill (2) 33 oz bottles of water first thing in the morning and I make myself finish both bottles by the end of the day. That way any I have at home is extra. Nothing is loose on me yet since I was barely fitting into my clothes pre-surgery. Now I can just comfortably fit into them. I can't wait until clothes and rings are falling off me! I finally figured out how to place the ticker as long as it keeps moving I'll keep it there! The trick is to copy and past the right link - for the vbulletin link. Now if I can figure out to paste smilies the right way I'll be good! Hope your recovery keeps going well. Where did you have your surgery?

Seppi - I live in NYC now but am originally from Essex County. I have family in Brick & Rumson, friends in Passiac and my company has a facility in Parsippany so I'm always visiting all over. Eileen - I feel pretty good. I still have discomfort around the port area, sometimes if I move the wrong way I swear I'm tearing something. But my doctor said that's normal and it's my body healing and warning me not to move that way (no kidding). Totally off topic... I left my office today to grab lunch and guess who I saw walking next me on the street? Carnie Wilson.... she looked amazing. It's true what they say that TV adds pounds because I was suprised to see how petite and thin she really is (can't be over 5 feet). I know she had gastric bypass and not the band but it was great for me to see the person that made me originally think about having WLS. Perfect timing too since I was about to get lunch, great motivator to have a good lunch vs. a bad lunch ! Hope everyone is doing well...

EVERYONE has a little Jersey in them ! Eileen - October / November - blame it on the drugs! You seem to be recovering really well. I dream every night of sleeping on my side, I still can't and I hate sleeping on by back! Hope everything goes well with your MIL. I don't know how all of you cook every night for your families. That's one good thing about being single (one of the few good things!) - I don't have to deal with cooking dinner and not eating being able to eat it! Hallowween candy consumed: None!!! (can't remember when that ever happened before) - helps that I do not get any trick or treaters in my building! Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi NJ Chick Can you add my date as well? It was 10/12. I'm glad to hear you are home and your surgery went well. The pain will get better, the drugs help that! Where in NJ are you from? I'm from Verona originally and was just curious. Wishing you quick healing....

LI definitely counts! I initially called Dr. Ren because it was closer to me too (UES) but they did not take my insurance. Now I have the shlep waaaaayyyy uptown - but it's worth it. The same thing happened to me - I finally felt like myself again after 1 1/2 weeks..... I thought I had a pretty good pain threshold but this suprised me -getting out of bed was agony! Living in a walk up does not help either - thankfully I'm on the 2nd floor or I don't think I would have left my apartment so soon after surgery. I'm glad I listened to the doctor and took 2 weeks off... I go back to work this Wednesday. I think your smart not to weigh yourself, I made the mistake of taking out my scale after 1 week and now I'm obsessed. I think I need to throw the damn thing out!! Let me know how your follow up goes...

Hi there! It went better than I expected. I was home the same day and now 9 days post op I only have a little bit of discomfort. Where did you get it done? I went to Columbia Presbyterian. Based on all the other posts on the post-op diet I think my doctor is pretty agressive. I was only on liquids for the 1 day after surgery and pureed food for the first 2 weeks. I have my follow up next Thursday and they have said I would go on solids then. How did your surgery go?
