Welcome to LBT!! First off, please DONT cheat on your pre-op diet,You are risking your life when you eat on the pre-o diet. You have to stick to that to the letter. You wont have to give up ALL the foods you love just the ones that are high calorie...you are strong and you can do this...believe it or not...we all have willpower in us and we CAN do this...we just need the lapband to help us with the portion control and help us lose a good amount of weight to get our energy up to get our butts in gear to exercise!! I just dont anything to happen to you..so good luck on the pre-op diet and hope to hear updates very very soon!! blessings to you and yours on this new year

I'm one step behind also, I found my physician and they are also having a seminar on Jan 12th. Stepoffaith where are you from...my seminar is in Topeka, KS

Well if you have done all the research and all the hoops that you have to go through to get this surgery. Then it must be the right thing for you to do. I believe you are just anxious and 6 wks is a long time to think. LOL But believe in yourself and know that YOU CAN DO THIS....you chose this path for a reason and I know in the end you'll be glad you did it!! I'm pre-band but I have those thoughts everyday and I just keep reminding myself that I know this is the only way for me to go. Good luck and welcome to LBT!! blessings to you

Welcome Natasha, you will love this forum it's totally awesome and I've read and met so many wonderful ppl on this site. I also will be attending a seminar on Jan 12th and I cant wait. I already know my insurance approves it and I already have a doc lined up. It's a requirement that I attend a seminar, get a psych evaluation done and then they submit to my insurance company which covers the lapband and then I wait for a surgery date. I'm hoping to get the band by March. *crossing fingers* Look frwd to hearing your progress on your journey. blessings

I have done all the research that I can do and found a doc and called my insurance company up and just asked them if the gastric bypass was covered and they said yes...so if that is covered under your insurance then the lapband will most likely be too. I went to that page and it doesnt show up any pictures on pg 42 #619 I wanted to see what you looked like before surgery...By the way you look AMAZING! I got to my seminar meeting on Jan 12th in Topeka, KS. Cant wait...this is the start of a new life for me IN a New year!!

I know this is going to sound strange asking this, but hubby mentions it alot so I figured I'd ask. This question is mainly for women to answer....If you exercise enough with weights and try like hell to keep from them sagging...did you lose your breasts??? I mean I like my breast just want them just a little bit smaller but NOT complete gone......I had a breast reduction at age 20 so I would like to get them back down to that low size C that they were after the swelling went down...LOL :guess blessings and waiting for responses!! I figured we could all use a laugh..I've had a bad day all around today!! :ranger:

I know what you mean about it being an adventure and scared at the same time. I just finally made my decision to have the band instead of the RYN. I wanted to wait til I did as much research as possible before even calling a doctor. Good luck on getting approval and surgery date!! blessings:ranger:

I want a band that is small because I gots lots to lose....I also have a kind of funny question...for the ppl that have already been banded (mainly the women)...did your breast shrink ALOT?? Becuz I do like my breast they just need to be a little bit smaller...LOL I will post a pic of myself tonite so you know who ur talking to...LOL

K here is my problems....this whole thing is such a a tough decision. I mean on the one hand the band would be good because it's a tool that will teach me how to eat better and not as much. But I have to work extra hard to get the weight off :cry(already been doing that my whole life) and it will take YRS for me to lose all the 100+ lbs I gotta lose and there is no guarantee that it will all come off. :faint:Now the bypass scares me, but the weight would come off the first yr(I'm not a VERY patient person) I've also seen all the health risks that come from that surgery and that makes me nervous, plus the hubby is totally against the bypass. :phanvan It makes me nervous that they bypass the stomach where as the band just puts a band around your stomach. :faint:Dont get me wrong I have no problem exercising it's just the time to exercise is the problem, I have a full time job, a husband and a teenager that needs to be driven to this class and that event for school etc, money for a gym is also a problem, and like I said before I am not a patient person when it comes to losing weight. I know I didnt gain it in an day and I wont lose it in a day, but when you bust your a** for a month and then step on a scale just to find out that you've gained 3 lbs..it's ALOT UPSETTING!!! Today it just seems like to make this kind of decision is harder than just staying fat. I mean it's a total life change and my insurance will cover either surgery so I dont want to choose the wrong one and insurance pay for nothing. :angry I have very stubborn fat that refuses to leave me on it's own. :cry:think Has anyone else felt this way when you were in your research and decision making stage, because right now I feel like I'm tearing myself apart trying to decide which would be the best way for me to go on this losing weight battle!! ???? :think I know I want this weight off and I know I eat right to an extent, but I still gain no matter what I eat....IT'S TOTALLY FRUSTRATING!!! Sorry just having a really bad day here!!! Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!!! blessings

Welcome to LBT and glad to hear you were able to get banded!! I havent been banded yet, but looking frwd to it...not all the hoops I gotta crawl through (cant jump too fat) LOL to get approval for the surgery and also trying to get the money together to pay my 20% of the surgery. So anyway good luck with the post op intake and keep us posted.. blessings

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WTG on starting your new yr off right!! Wish I would have thought about getting this surgery when I was 20, but instead I'm finally woke up at the age I am not. AGAIN HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND WELCOME!!

Thank you to all your responses...and the doc Malley in KS sounds hilarious and MY KIND OF DOC...just wish he wasnt so damn far away...I can see driving 2 1/2 hrs to KC to get a . something CC of saline.....I also know I am going to need an over night stay in the hospital because I dont do too well with surgery...and I dont want to be driving back home for 2 1/2 hrs right after having surgery..that would NOT BE TOO GOOD AT ALL....but I love the way the doc introduced himself....you NEVER hear of doc's acting like that...at least NONE of the docs I HAVE EVER EVER HAD!!!

Welcome to this site JenniferZ!! You will find this site very helpful and make lots of friends at the same time. I am a total newbie also havent even spoken to a doc yet, I'm waiting til after the holidays are over to get this started. I know I wont be able to get through the holidays with just a Protein shake and still maintain traditions that my family has especially me making my FAMOUS ham that they cant get enough of....but I will be contacting a DR soon. I'm still in the search for just the right one....and now yesterday I seen about this realize band and I really want one of those...but there is no doc's in this area that do it yet Hope to become friends and HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOURS!!! Welcome to this site you will be glad that you joined..it's awesome....lots of info and ppl are really nice here and are willing to help however they can...I havent been banded yet but I can tell I will have great support from this site and from my hubby and stepson at home and some friends at work...I'm keeping it hush from in laws and my parents and brothers because I want to go back to PA and shock them once I'm to my goal weight...I live in KS!!!

I'm new here as well and I've decided to get the surgery because my hubby's insurance will cover 80% of it which is better than having to self pay. I am still looking for just the right doctor. I also think I should get that new realize band that ppl on this post are talking about.... Welcome to the site and hope to become friends with everybody because lets face it..we are ALL IN THIS FIGHT against our enemy FAT!!! LOL BLESSINGS TO YA'LL
