ty for all the responses....glad to hear it...thanks
  5. Well lets see where to begin..I guess I will start with the psych evaluation...it has to be done in two sessions because the guy HEN PECKS the damn keys:mad: so it is taking twice as long to type the answers I give him up. I just want to say to him "give me the damn keyboard and tell me what to type" I type 50 + words per minute. But thankfully the soonest they can get me in is Feb 1st I went to PCP doc and explained to him that I would like to have the Lap Band done and we talked about the pros and cons and what my symptoms are that validate me NEEDING the surgery. So I told him about the back pain, the tired all the time, etc. So he said since my insurance company doesnt require a 6 month weight loss he said I would like for you to try a prescript diet pill until if and when you get ur surgery. So he is putting me on Fastin. He also gave me Glutzera since I stopped taking the regular Metformin because of the HORRIBLE side effects and OMGS that pill is FAT, I about choked trying to swallow it last night at dinner. He said second thing is I would like you to have fasting blood work done and third a sleep test. Well things are falling into place quickly for me...the soonest they could get me in for the blood work was THIS MORNING!!! Awesome.:rolleyes2:...Next the sleep test..the soonest they could get me in for that was FEB 5TH totally awesome!!! :biggrin:So things are working so fast that it proves to me that I made the right decision to get the band done. That this is the right path I should be taking since I gave up on the baby thing after 11 yrs of trying. Any who.... So I am writing a letter to put in with my packet I send to the bariatric doc to let him know the names of my doc's and that he'll be receiving stuff about my blood work, sleep test and psych eval shortly. Here is my concern though..I looked up about this Fastin pills and I'm really nervous.....Has anyone been prescribed this and how well did it work for them?? I am nervous about the addiction and side effects part of this pill..not so sure if I should take it......I mean it said you can get addicted to it...like we dont have enough problems with being tired all the time, addicted to eating and addicted to nicotine (quitting that by the way) now my PCP wants to put me on a addictive diet pill that can make me irritable and sleepy and addicted....come on where was his brain on that one....??? LOL

    How is your body reshaping?

I'm gonna be 33 on the 30th of this month..when is yours?
  8. ThinDolphin3

    Feeling a little beaten-down

What branch of BC/BS do you have or is it all of them?
  9. ThinDolphin3

    How is your body reshaping?

Has anyone done lots of situps etc to keep the stomach tight or tried a firming body lotion. I read one post somewhere else that their friend did 100 sit ups a day and has a firmer stomach because of it..I have been wondering about that before I get the surgery done..so I'm really glad I found this post.

    Finally Approved!! Got Surgery Date

    congrats sweetie
  11. Well I have my psych eval on Thursday the 24th that the bariatric surgeon requires. Now my insurance company doesnt require this stuff..but I just was able to make an appt to get in to talk to my PCP about seeing if he would recommend the surgery as well. I also called my ob/gyn that diagnosis me with PCOS and Insulin resistance to write a letter also. So I'm covering all my basis before I send this in to the bariatric surgeon along with my packet they want me to fill out about my medical history etc to get a consult. I'm making sure there wont be any question of me getting this surgery. That way the insurance company has no problems seeing that I have issues and need this surgery. My PCP has seen me more times than I can count about having chronic bronchitis and just being sick all the time and my asthma getting worse. I am also quitting smoking...I'm down to 4 cigs a day. Mostly at work and on the drive home. Of course you realize with quitting smoking I'm gonna gain more weight...which will also help with the surgery not that I really need any with being over 250 now and only 5'5! So whatcha think..have I missed anything that might be required?? My insurance co and the surgeon dont require the 6 month weight loss program...just lots of diet history with the packet you send in. Is there anything else that I havent thought of yet? :rolleyes2:

    Getting all ducks lined up.....

Oh shoot I guess my reproductive endo did diagnosis me with the Insulin resistance. Damn now I gotta call that doc also and get them to send me a documentation also to say that I would benefit greatly by getting this surgery and for a doc to say that I have insulin resistance. I've seen so many docs in my life it's hard to keep track of which one said what...LOL I have Anthem bc/bs of VA
  13. I am seeing all kinds of posts about damn port infections and having to be in the hospital and having to have port taken out etc....I'M REALLY STARTING TO FREAK OUT HERE NOW!!! I was all set in my mind to have this surgery done, but seeing all these problems with the port and infections etc...it's giving me second thoughts BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rolleyes2::tt1:

    Getting ducks lined up......

nope....gotta wait til I have everything I need to send the packet in..so they will call me for a consult...I hope they do it fast...do you think since I will have the psych eval and everything else in with the packet that they will send it in for insurance before the consult...or do they need to do the consult before sending to insurance?
  16. ThinDolphin3

    Getting ducks lined up......

Well 40 BMI which is no problem...my bmi is 41.6 and I have PCOS with Insulin resistance....but other than what Dr. Steward requires my insurance just says 40 bmi or over. I have Anthem BC/BS of VA but I live here in KS....hubby gets insurance through working on post through a contractor as a mechanic and that is who they go through for insurance.

    The most insulting compliment.

Yeah I got those kind of "compliments" from my ex aunt...she would always say "you have such a pretty face, if you just dropped a few lbs you would be gorgeous" how is a 11 yr old suppose to take something like that...I mean her children (my cousins) were a gymnast and a cheerleader and wore size 0 clothes. That is one of MANY reasons she is my EX-AUNT
  18.
Well let's see where do I start. Well I've been fat pretty much since puberty. I've tried starving myself in high school only eating crackers and iced tea for lunch and eating lettuce with mayo for dinner and nothing for breakfast. Well those bad habits made lots of weight pack on me over the yrs. Went through a bitter divorce and as we all here know food is the bestest friend you could ever have in the world. I've done OTC diet pills, mail order pills, herbal pills, exercised my butt off and only lost at the most was 25 lbs in two months and then I gaind about 50 back because I couldnt afford the gym fee anymore. I dont really eat much but my body immediately stores anything I eat. I have been diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance and I am BIG TIME Infertile. So I've given up on the fertility train after 11 yrs of trying with no luck. Just a bunch of fertility pills that packed more weight on me.

Well anywho my friend had the gastric bypass done and she went from 350 to 140 in one yrs time and that scares me and it just seemd to drastic. She is having all kinds of health problems etc and I dont want that. I've done research on both the lapband and the gastric bypass. I'm tired of looking in the mirror and absolutely hating what I see I've become. So I've made the decision to get the lapband done. I havent spoken to a doc yet because I'm waiting til after the holidays. I want to get all the in's and out's of this procedure and know that this is in fact the right way to go. That way I start 2008 with a new life choice. My insurance covers the surgery just hope it covers all the doc appts and nutrition appts etc. Havent really seen anything about that stuff in the posts I've been reading in here for the past two days. My hubby is scared for me he doesnt want me getting sick like my friend is right now from the RYN. He also doesnt want me losing my breasts. LOL And the darling hubby that he is says that I look fine to him. I said well honey that is really sweet but I HATE THE WAY I look and cant understand why you love me or even want to ya know with me. But he is behind me 150% when I get this surgery done.

So this is me in a huge nutshell. I'm 5 foot 5 and I weigh about 250 and considered by that wonderful BMI CHART as EXTREMELY MORBIDLY OBESE! My BMI is 41.6. I dont have a specific weight I want to get to ...I just want to be able to fit into a size 14 jean like I did before I gained all this weight. I want to still have some meat on my bones to keep me warm...LOL LOL

Love and light to all of us that are in search to make our outside person match our lovely inside person!!

Dolphin

    Question: hope to get answered

I seriously doubt it!!! That is something she has to discuss with her physcians. Wow I doubt that would be healthy at all. to have bypass already and now trying to get lapband done...The doc might look at her and say.."well if you cant control urself with a bypass then you wont be able to with a lapband" Now that is just my opinion....sorry I just say whatever comes out of my head....I do apologize if you take offense.

    Newbie from Kansas

Well I seen his pic at the seminar and he's got a cute face and my friend had bypass done by the woman doc and she had follow ups with Steward and she said he's the one I want to go with because of how picky I am about my docs...I dont want one that is going to talk down to me and not listen to my concerns etc. We will definitely have to get together for lunch sometime. I am off on Sat and Sundays.
