I will be having my surgery on May 8th and I'm nervous as hell. I keep thinking what if this doesnt work. What if something goes wrong during surgery and they wont be able to put the band on. I will be getting the Realize band instead of the Allergan. Doc let me make that decision, he said it was up to me which band I would like placed in me. I said I would like the realize band since it's new and the difference in how the port is placed. Wow my surgery is so close.... I just hope I can do this 10 day pre-op diet and still be able to work without getting dizzy from lack of eating real food instead of just drinking liquid.:smile: Also smelling all the food from potlucks that they have in the office. I work in a call center and just about everyday there is someone in the huge building having a potluck and the smell just filters through the whole damn place. :thumbup: I'll stay in touch.

My preop diet is going to be starting in 7 days....should I be worried about driving and working while on this diet. I am allowed cottage cheese, sf jellos, sf pops, and atkins shakes. I wonder how weak I will be since I get migraines if I dont eat??? I am really concerned about being able to be ok with only liquid diet.

I would love to just be able to fit into a size 14 ...currently i believe I wear a size 26 which totally sux....but all my pants that I own are stretch pants so the last time I bought a pair of elastic jeans it was 22/24

I am wondering what do you need these things called bath room tongs or some name like that??? and where do you find them or if I even need them?? I keep seeing threads that mention these tong things...but not sure what they are:confused2:

well trust me it's not like i want to use the tongs....I was just curious what they were talking about...LOL

ty for the encouragement...i really appreciate it...i'm hoping that I'll be able to say no to foods that make me huge....since i got a surgery date i've been eating lots of steak and chips etc and i quit smoking too and now i've gained like 8 lbs...had to go to the doc office today i messed up my knee..they think i tore my ACL but they arent sure...so i gotta wait and find out after it starts to heal a few days from now....they put me on darvaset and guess what i'm still awake..it didnt work at all

Ty for this list. So does walmart sell chewable adult vitamins? I have also been looking for the protein shakes. My doc told me NOT TO USE slim fast for my pre-op diet he suggested I go tnad get atkins shakes at walgreens. I have also been shopping around the internet for liquid vitamins. Any suggestions??? I noticed that you didnt have neosporin on that list for the sutures is there a reason? I mean I would want them to heal as soon as possible.

I have a surgery date of May 8th @ 9:30am. I have to be at the hospital @ 7:30am. My husband and son are going to be there with me. My son is insisting on being there, so I have to call him off school that day. He is worried about his mama :thumbup: I keep assuring him I'll be fine, but he still wants to be there. I will be staying that night in the hospital because I requested it through my doctor. I live an hour and a half away from the hospital. I want a nurse and a doc to be just down the hall in case of anything happening because of my sleep apnea and asthma. That and I don't do really well with the anesthesia. I explained to doc and nurse that it's not that I don't trust them or think that they will do a bad job, I just want to know I'm gonna be safe; those first 24 hrs it's gonna be long. I'm nervous about having to do the pre-op diet. I didn't realize til I made my new tickers how close my surgery REALLY IS!!! HOLY SHIT!!! Well I'll keep you posted on how I'm doing on the pre-op diet.

Well I've been on lapbandtalk for quite a few months now, but ty! I just havent been on here lately to chat and post. I am having my surgery done at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, KS with Dr. Steward of Tallgrass in Topeka. He is handsome and very nice and straight forward and non-judging. I'm so excited.

Kissmygrits that is so awesome about ur ovaries being cleared up. I hope when I get my band that it does the same to me. I need them cysts off so I can get normal periods. Havent heard from you in awhile how are things going..is this the latest of ur lbs lost so far? IM me when you can

There was a little mix up when the lady called to schedule my surgery. When I had my consult I had told the doc that I don't do to well with surgeries, it takes me a long time to recover and the anesthesia really makes it hard to stay awake after they wake me up and I'm also an hour and half away from doc's office. So I asked him if I could please have it at the hospital and stay in the hospital overnight because I would just feel safer, not that I'm saying something will go wrong, but I don't want to take that chance. He said he understood and it wouldn't be a problem. So when she called me for the surgery date, I explained it to her and that I was also going on a little vacation Memorial day weekend, she said not a problem that she would get me a surgery date asap or after my vacation for Memorial day weekend. She said I dont want to schedule it right before ur vacation or have u have to be on the pre-op diet on ur vacation because she wouldnt want to be doing that either. So she said she'll see if she can get it first week in May and if not then schedule it for 10 days after my vacation for the pre-op diet...she was really nice and understood. So I know I've been approved for surgery:thumbup::regular_smile:...just waiting on a date. :thumbup: So as soon as I know the date I WILL DEFINITELY LET EVERYONE know!!!

that is so great Heidi....keep up the awesome work of ur weight loss. .Ailie that is just weird that you gotta wait to see ur doc before you know when ur surgery is....if it's approved they should have called u for a date I would think...where are you ladies from?

Yeah I'm still trying to quit, my bariatric doc gave me a script for Chantix and I finally dropped it off at walmart pharmacy and asked them how much it would be if my insurance didnt cover it and I was shocked to learn it was $140.00. I said "EXCUSE ME, IT'S HOW MUCH!!??":ohmy: So that was Friday and now I'm still waiting to hear if my insurance covers it or not.:frown: If it doesnt then I'll have to do the cold turkey or the patches. It's a helluva lot cheaper to do it that way then losing 140.00 I might need to help pay for my 20% of my surgery. I figure if I can beat my crazy addiction to cigs I can do the lapband with no problem.:wub::thumbup: Hell it might even help wake up my slow metabolism and make me not as stressed. Well good luck to all of us smokers that want to quit. May we find the strength some how SOME WAY!!

Congrats on getting a date and welcome to LBT!! I still waiting for mine to get approved so I can get a surgery date. Right now my doc is scheduled til beginning of May so I'm hoping by June I'll have a new birthday "LAP BAND SURGERY DAY" to start my new life. Good luck to you and stay in touch.

Congrats on surgery and welcome to LBT!! I'm on the waiting game right now waiting on insurance approval. Let me know how ur recovery goes so I know what to expect when I get mine done. I"m trying to stay positive that I will get my surgery.

I have my consultation appt on March 11th and I cant wait to meet my doc and ask him all kinds of questions and see when I'll be able to get surgery. Sorry havent been on in awhile I've been dealing with alot of personal issues at home. I have done all the prep stuff like psych eval, sleep test, blood work, etc.:thumbup: Now I finally get my consultation appt to meet my doctor and get things rolling to be sent to my insurance company. Miss y'all bunches!!!

That is great that you are getting things done so quickly. Hope the baby and mother is okay. Havent gone to the nutrionist yet but will be soon enough though.
