What are your favorite exercise videos?
usedtobeaskater replied to ocgirl15's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I too have knee issues and LOVE Hip Hop Abs. There is a girl, to watch. In the DVD who modifies and does the lower impact. I have bought all three DVDS in the series and knees are getting stronger and losing weight -
Had surgery 10/28/16. I am freezing most of the time. Is this normal? Down 75 lbs since surgery - 110 since this journey began.

Hemorrhoids after Gastric Sleeve?
usedtobeaskater replied to fling0228's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
YES, I had hemroids. Witch hazel put directly on it helps, lots of water and 4 Colace helped "move" things along -
fiber supplements?
usedtobeaskater replied to crazyplantlady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Miralax at night Colace during the day helps. I have had many constipation episodes since surgery 10-15 -
My parents were so against my surgery due to worries of what could happen to me during surgery. I understand where they were coming from and NOW they are my biggest cheerleaders! Today they gave me a Alex and Ani bracelet that says "HERO" with a beautiful card with so many amazing things they said. Knowing they are proud means the world to me. Being able to call them and tell them my milestones is a blessing. I am proud of myself. My husband and sons are cheerleaders as well but these two people who gave me life and are able to watch me change my life in a positive way while being do encouraging just brings me to tears.

So true. Pretty bad when I go into work and the first thing I hear "Geez, you look awfully tired". THANKS like I don't know that. I feel great otherwise but to get rid of this raccoon look and a good night sleep would be fantastic I tried melatonin - puts me to sleep fine but does not help staying asleep ????????

Just finished a month of Hip Hop Abs. If you have not tried it I highly recommend it. My knees are the worst and I was able to do it all. It's a fun workout! Waiting for the second edition I just ordered. They only cost $19.99 online compared to when it first came out and cost $$$ Never finished a workout plan before and am happy I followed through with doing this DVD this past month. Lost inches AND weight! Also just bought a Kettle Bell. Happy I am able to type this but not sure I can lift my arms tomorrow! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK EVERYONE! You are all amazing!! "Remember to be AWESOME!"

Exercise
usedtobeaskater replied to usedtobeaskater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
FYI: there is jumping around involved BUT I do the modified version for my knees. So when they are jumping, I am not and still getting a good workout -
I have been that way since surgery in October. It stinks. The bags under my eyes are scary. Surgeon doesn't know why. I would be so happy to sleep over 4-5 hours

Yeeeeeeeaaaaaa!! So happy for you. Keep up the good work!

So I am feeling great about myself. Working out hard, eating what I am supposed to, no cheating, and thinking I am looking good after 3 months post op and down 50 lbs since surgery AND THEN...... I just got back from a wake and my husband and I ran into someone and the first comments out of her mouth to my husband she says "You look great!" To Me "Gee you're fat!" REALLY????!!!! That is not okay. I am not a mean person, I just do not have it in me but I wanted to say "Ya, I'm fat but you're ugly inside and out and I am losing weight! What are you going to do?" But I didn't. I have not wanted to cry in a long time and I feel like I was kicked in the stomach. Why are people so mean and say things like that? My husband says to let it go and ignore her and I am trying but darn it that hurt! Like I don't know I am fat! I will overcome this but I'm mad!

You all are AMAZING! Thanks for letting me vent and your support. I am going to keep fighting and working hard on my weight loss. I LOVE this site and all you extraordinary sleevers! -
What a JERK!! Sorry you were treated that way. It is disgusting. Regarding stall with constipation my nutritionist said to take Vitamin they want me to take (Opurity) one day and next day a Multivitamin with low to no Iron. Keep doing this and it worked. No more constipation. We figured it was the iron and once constipation ended the weight stall ended. Another thing that helped constipation is lying in bed, rub your hands together to warm them up and then rub your stomach in circles, starting around belly button and then get bigger around whole stomach. Do 50 circles total. Be firm but not too hard and this helped me as well. Sounds silly but it works. I hope things get better for you but DO NOT let the Dr discourage you and keep up the good work!

usedtobeaskater replied to ididit34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have so much energy! Learned I really need to slow down while eating. Twice I was starving and ate too fast made me want to be sick. Down 50 lbs - could not exercise for over a month due to an injury but back at it and LOVE IT. Who knew? lol. How are you doing? -
It is so important to have great support. My husband came to meetings with me too and has been great. I wish you the best of luck and let us know when your date is.

Are PreOp Jitters? - Words of Encouragement Required Please!
usedtobeaskater replied to Jenkins's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Completely normal. I had the same thing"What the heck am I doing?" "Can I do this?" "Why don't I do it on my own?" but the week of surgery a feeling of absolute calm came over me and I went in excited. Best thing I have ever done for myself. Two months out and things going well. You are going to be excited and will feel so much better. Good Luck. Good vibes heading your way! -
How was your Holiday's a success for you?
usedtobeaskater replied to Fat2Phat2016's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I do all the cooking/baking/hosting of Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. I am SOOOOOO happy I did not have a cookie, fudge, truffle, candy of any kind. That is huge for me. It did not bother me one bit either. Drank my Water while everyone was drinking and had A LOT of fun! I have so much more energy it is amazing. I even got on the scale Christmas Day to find I lost 3 lbs that week and did the same on New Years Day and lost another 3. Two months out from surgery and I am down 48 lbs. Could have been more had I been able to exercise but still dealing with a pulled muscle in my calf. I am excited about my new life and Holiday Success. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! -

usedtobeaskater replied to newjrny85's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good Luck!!! Had my surgery 10/28 and have so much more energy and down 40 since surgery you are going to feel great. It is hard at first getting protein drinks and water in but slowly gets easier and you just need to be patient. You are doing what is best for YOU and will do fantastic. Sending prayers and good vibes your way!! -
Week 4 today. So I feel great, walking a lot, get my protein and water in and can start ground turkey and chicken this week. Everything has been going great until I started having severe pain in right calf. Leg swollen - checked for blood clots - negative. Went to Orthopedist yesterday have to have MRI could be hair line fracture due to going from little exercise to full blown exercise. He said bones not getting enough recovery time. Soooooo NO EXERCISE at all. What am I going to do? This stinks!
-
Whoa. You look fantastic. Thanks for sharing gets me even more motivated. Week 6 since surgery just had week and a half stall but started losing again. Off to exercise now. CONGRATS on all your hard work!!
