I don't want to tell my direct supervisor (who does my schedule) as she will tell everyone. I thought about just saying I'm having the hernia repair only and just taking a few days off. But if I do FMLA (in case I need more days or for check ups etc.) will it say hernia repair or gastric sleeve?

Rescheduled for November 12th.

As much as I want to hurry and start my weight loss, I think you're right. I don't want to ruin my vacation when I could wait a month. Doesn't make me happy but I think I will postpone until November. Thank you all for your advice. I couldn't talk to anyone else about my decision as they wouldn't understand.

Hiatal Hernia and wishful thinking
tbmichals replied to hilaryglynxo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my consult with Dr Long Sept 4th, my EGD the next day and a phone consult on the 11th. Then nothing… I left Silvia a phone message yesterday, still nothing. Guess I'll email also. -
A week before surgery- am I having the right procedure for my eating?
tbmichals replied to Nomorethickchick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nomorethickchick I seriously could have written your post down to the height and weight! We are exactly alike except I don't have my surgery scheduled yet. I have been having the same doubts about which surgery also. A -
Since I live several hours away I scheduled my consult on one day and my EGD the next. I have to wait until September 11 for a phone consult to go over my EGD. Then can set up a surgery date. I'm going on a cruise on October 26 so I'm going to have to wait until I get back I'm sure. He said he wanted 4 weeks recovery before the cruise. Don't think I can rush it that much. I really liked Dr. Long. He was friendly, explained the procedure and took time to talk to me. I don't really ask a lot of questions (I should I know).

I am having my consult in an hour and will have my EGD in the morning. I've done a few different consults. Wasn't real comfortable with Dr. Kim, not friendly at all. Maybe it was an off day, who knows.

Do "lightweights" tend to hit goal?
tbmichals replied to POSE2VSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to lose 80lbs. I'm the heaviest I've ever been. Tired of my feet hurting, getting winded, overall looking and feeling bad. Can't wait to get a surgery date! -
Will you message me and let me know what was wrong with Dr. Long? I just scheduled a consult with him (in Dallas).

MedWorld/True Results/Nicholson Clinic

I asked the advocate about the cost during my consult Monday. She said it was $3900 I said is that the total cost from now until I'm finished? She said yes. Please let me know this is not the case, I don't want any surprise bills. -
I went to True Results in Plano Monday. I am going to do the hiatal hernia route (or try). I am concerned that I haven't gotten to meet the Dr. What if I don't like him? I requested Nicholson I'm also concerned that you don't have to any of the consults that other Dr.'s require. The nutritionist is now a phone call. Isn't that education and a psychiatrist/psychologist eval a big part of changing our bad behaviors? Don't get me wrong, I like them, just wanted to here your opinions. Also how long should it take to get my actual appt with the surgeon?

It looks like with all of the exclusions my insurance has for the sleeve, there is no way I will qualify, so I'm now looking at self-pay. The Dr. I had a consult with charges $16,500 plus co-pays, lab, etc. There is no way, even if I got a loan. So now I'm looking at other options. My husband is not comfortable with me going to Mexico but I am considering it. I live in Oklahoma, is there anyone near here that has lower fees? It's hard to decide to go to another country for surgery when you have never stepped foot in the office until the day before surgery. Seems a little scary!!

I'm starting to consider Mexico for the sleeve. Would you guys mind sharing who your Dr. was and your experience (Dr, facilities, etc) PM me.

Bailey Bariatrics in Owasso
tbmichals replied to nymetzfan11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my consult with Dr Kirk last week. I'm hoping my insurance will pay, but if not, what is the self pay cost? Does that include start to finish or is it just for the surgery itself? -
Dr. Kim in Frisco or Bailey Bariatrics or Mexico
tbmichals posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I have a consult with Dr. Kim on Wednesday and there is also an info meeting that night for Bailey Bariatrics in Muskogee. I am thinking about going to both. I want to choose the right Dr but there are so many options out there. My insurance covers bariatric surgery but my BMI is only 36 so there is a possibility that I will be self pay. This is what makes me also consider Mexico. I guess what I am looking for is for experiences with these two places. Anything negative? How long from first appointment until surgery? Thanks
