I can't believe he said that!
rvan09 replied to New Me 2015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My GI is the one who actually recommended/ demanded I get the surgery, and basically decided which surgery I should get! (I have Crohn's.) I would try and see if you can find another doctor; this one doesn't seem to continue his education! -
What does a day in your eating life look like?
rvan09 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on May 18, and this week I am allowed to introduce meats in all forms again. I was allowed crackers and toast for the last few weeks because they are easier to digest, and I want to hit the ground running on changing my eating habits permanently. I would really appreciate if y'all would list your go-to meals, or post a day in the life of your sleeve. I could really use the inspiration! Thanks! -
Should I expect to gain weight?
rvan09 replied to Psychsnob's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The only gain I've had was when I got really dehydrated because I was sick, and then I "gained" back the Water weight that I falsely lost. I was heartbroken to see the scale go back up, but my surgeon said it wasn't a real gain and not to let it get me down. -
Sad about missing food
rvan09 replied to Mcgann320's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was miserable during the liquid stage, and it has gotten much better once I was able to introduce solid foods. With every new food I'm able to add, my "depression" gets better and better. I promise it gets better. I'm almost a month out from surgery, and while the misery is fresh in my mind, it gets better every day! -
This has been beyond hard. My mom stayed with us for 2 weeks after the surgery, and I could have used another week. I got sick (pre-school crud) last week, and I haven't had a chance to get better because my husband can't take anymore time off of work. My kiddos are 6 months and almost 4 years old. Basically, if you feel a little off, make time to go to the doctor. Ask for help. I'm sure that you are used to taking care of everything, but you have to let people help you so you can heal.

Prescribed Diet: To Stick With Or Not To Stick With?
rvan09 replied to jm726's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would call your surgeon. They may have some suggestions on how to make the other foods on your plan less heavy.
