    I'm I failing already!

Some people just weren't adequately informed before surgery. They want quick fixes and miracles.
  2. You shouldn't do it untill your head is clear and straight. You mention a number of things that express that you're fearful of failure. Perhaps it's really a fear of success. See your psych and make sure your head is in the right place. This is a forever surgery.

    IBS pre and post op

I had severe IBS for years. I was sleeved three months ago and also had my gall bladder removed. My IBS is almost completely gone. When I have a rare episode it is directly caused by specific foods. Unfortunately, whey protein shakes are a trigger. I can drink an occasional one, but never two or more in a two day period. There are a few other things that bother me, but the beauty is it is so easy to track now.

    Alcohol

I heard Scotch has the least carbs, isn't generally mixed with anything but water or soda water, is much easier to slowly sip because of the taste, and you are more apt to drink far less. I, of course, can't stand the stuff!

    June 8th sleevers?

A 100 pounds and a new son? Whoa, you must be on cloud nine! Congratulations, I hope both journeys bring you much joy and happiness. I'm not sure where you started, but 100 pounds in less than 4 months is wild! Yeah for you!

So you think the stomach regrows?

    Bingeing after the sleeve

@. Although I agree the overall point of your post in that we all need to train ourselves for new behaviors and our relationship with food, I can't agree with the premise that the sleeve is a temporary tool. Our stomachs will not, under any circumstances, grow back. It's permanent. That being said, it is possible to have bad behaviors that will allow to eat around and greatly defeat the tool.

@@VSGAnn2014 You ROCK! I love that at 67 you never gave up on yourself and did this. You probably feel 30 years younger and may have added 20 years to your life!

    Halloween Challenge!

I have your beginning weight as 165.8 and a goal of 160. Should it be 265.8 and 260? I'm sorry! Jeez. Sorry. It's 164.4!
  11. The most important comparison is how you react to anesthesia. I've had 12 surgeries and never had complications from anesthesia. I've had several abdominal surgeries and my sleeve was easy peasy. Now shoulder surgery, well that just downright sucked! I'm sure you'll do great.

    Frothing

It's happened to me quite a bit. But now at 12 weeks out, it doesn't scare the crap out of me. I spit it up, use a Gas-X, walk a few minutes and turn the page.

It was still a great day. Not perfect, but whose are perfect!

    What to stock up on.....

Very little! I still have a lot of what I bought preop, and bought completely different things postop simply because my tastes changed. You won't be housebound, so you'll go out and get what you need as you need it. Buy sample sizes until after your surgery and you know how your taste buds might have shifted. Good luck!

    Stop weighing yourself so often.

    3 months out questions

Slow down your eating, chew more, and take Gas-X. I'm also three months out and have really noisy sounds in my pouch. It's almost always air and Gas-X takes it right away. If it were any of those things you're worried about, there would be PAIN! If you're truly concerned, of course, seek medical advice.
  17. Doubtful you did any harm, but best to stay on program. I had same gurgling and, at 12 weeks, I still do. Use Gas-X! It works great! Don't fret your mistake, just don't repeat it without Drs. approval. Also, I was given a PPI to start at the one week point, were you (omeprazole)? If so, take it too!
  18. @Babbs. You rock. People do come here to be chastised or they wouldn't post. Every one of us needs to read the desperate posts pleading for help because they don't know what's gone so terribly wrong. By criticizing, perhaps we are all helping each other THINK before we do!
  19. What about the sheer volume of that shake? It's a lot of thick liquid! I would personally be very worried about satiating cravings with a modified version of a really bad food choice. I'm certain most people on this forum are battling food addiction. Too much of a slippery slope for me! I remember the first seminar I attended on WLS, the NUT said the most common way she saw people eat around their restrictions was with ice cream and milkshakes! No thanks, I'm trying to reestablish good eating habits during this honeymoon phase!

    Inpatient or Outpatient

My surgeon did a leak test in the operating room! That's while I was asleep. He's with a bariatric center of excellence and I researched beforehand about the surgery and thought that's how it is done now.

    Inpatient or Outpatient

I stayed overnight and wished they'd had let me leave the evening before. I had a roommate from hell and got no sleep. The nurses totally ignored me even the few times I rang the bell because of the drama queen in the next bed. I had to get up to pee by myself, unhook the machines and drag the IV pole to the bathroom (if it was even available because roomie peed every 45 minutes). I got a lot of walking in just to find help for my constant screaming roomie. I'd much rather be at home than the hospital!

Star Jones weight gain (80 lbs)

She wrote an article for Glamour. She definitely had bypass, not the band. But she had heart surgery in 2010 and her weight gain has been since that surgery. Maybe she's on steroids or other meds affecting her weight regain.

Star Jones weight gain (80 lbs)

Compared to where she started before WLS, she still looks great. However, compared to how extremely skinny she got, I'd say she gained at least 50 pounds back. She thrust herself into the media, and we are looking at her and talking about her, so perhaps they (the media) are just doing their jobs.
