    June 30th Sleevers?

    What about really thick soups!

    Hello I'm new!

    Wow. Good luck with that!
  4. Lots of "wackos" said it--including my doctor!

    Stomach Pain

Perhaps you can try the depo prevara (spelling???) shot instead of birth control pill. Lasts three months and is even more effective than the pill.

    Stomach Pain

The only painful thing about the HIDA scan is the needle going into your arm for an IV! You just lay there for an hour and a half. No big deal.

    Taking NSAID's for back pain

Hmmmm. I was told I couldn't take NSAIDs for the rest of my life and that if I had chronic or arthritic pain, it was a reason to really contemplate NOT having sleeve surgery! I was told Tylenol is the only option. They made me sign a paper specifically agreeing to this restriction!

    June 30th Sleevers?

I've been on a food funeral for two weeks. I almost wished I was on a two week pre op diet!

    Drinking Diet Soda

It's a carbonated no no. For most surgeons and their plans.

    June 30th Sleevers?

7:30 am for me! I wish it was later, but it really won't matter since I generally want to sleep for 48 hours after any surgery. Fortunately hospital is only 20 minutes away, but I am required to arrive at 5:30 am. Yuck.

    Drinking Diet Soda

It's a slippery slope. If you read enough of this site, the people desperate because they've started to gain weight back almost always--when pushed--admit they veered off the path of rules set by the experts. Not that anyone is perfect. It just seems to me if I'm going through such a drastic physical change, I'm going to try and follow the expert's advice. My NUT says everyone who has problems or regain started by "testing" her pouch!

    June 30th Sleevers?

June 30th here! I'm a lower BMI to start...but my comorbidities are horrible. No pre-op diet other than three days of Ensure to clean out my stomach right before surgery. Getting excited.
  13. Perhaps you (and all of us) should concentrate on your body fat percentage. My NUT laughed at me when I told her my fantasy goal is 125. She pointed out that with the muscle mass I have from weight lifting I'd have only 10% body fat! BMI isn't a perfect measuring device. It is strictly based on height and weight. Muscle is much heavier, but smaller!
  14. You've lost 38 pounds in 3 months and a week! That's slow? Not sure we're you started but whenever have you lost like that before? You're way too harsh on yourself. At this rate you will lose 140 pounds in a year. Not slow in any one's book.

    Hello I'm new!

Welcome! Your story is very much like mine--except the BC--I spent my 20's and 30's in a bikini on the shores of So Cal and age, bad habits, and a removed thyroid have landed me into sleeve land. My surgery is 6/30/15, so you're ahead of me, but within a few months we will be about the same place. Keep reading these posts! They'll help a lot with the pre-surgery questions.

    Got my date- June 29

    June 30th for me!
  17. I am a self pay because I'm a "low" BMI. In Reno the cost is around $14,000 and includes a "complications" insurance because regular health insurance won't cover post-op problems stemming from a surgery they didn't sanction. Make sure you are provided this coverage! The proceed is much faster without insurance dictating. It took me only four weeks to do all the classes, evaluations and requirements. Because I don't need to lose weight prior to surgery (I am 34 BMI), I don't have to do a (six week) pre-op diet. I could have had surgery as early as June 15th, which was only six weeks after my initial consult. I am set for my VSG on June 30th! Good luck to you!
  18. Just got my date! Excited but pensive. I am a low BMI and thus a self pay, but my comorbidities make me feel like I just have to do it. I've spent most of my life rather slender until my thyroid threatened my life and it was removed. Add 75 pounds quickly and you get HBP, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, sleep apnea and an emergency gall bladder removal--all in four years! My stats are: Age 53 Height 5'6" BMI 34 SW 200 CW 200 Goal 145 Fantasy Weight 125 Good news is I don't have to pre-op weight loss and I only have to do special Meal Replacement shakes for three days prior!

    Post op troubles

What you describe is what I had when I had my thyroid removed. I think sometimes people's thyroids crash after WLS and cause those symptoms. It usually bounces back quickly.

    Hair pulling

I've had TTM since I was a small child. It got worse as I was in college and then law school. Reading has been a trigger for me. It's a coping mechanism that can easily turn into an obsession and then an addiction. My fear of having WSL is that my TTM will worsen as cross addictions can be exasperated. Hope you can stay away from it and nip it while you still can.
