    Question... In pain.

Exact same thing happened to me with a sneeze. Went to surgeon and he said it was just a tiny adhesion that was tight and the sneeze loosened it. Not a big deal in the healing spectrum, but hurt for two days.

    Protein shakes and fluid intake

Have you tried Fair Life Milk? It is filtered so it's nonfat, lactose free and has much higher protein per serving. I'm not much of a milk drinker but this nonfat milk is pretty creamy and tasty. Good way to boost protein!

  4. Yes! The colder the water or beverage the more I feel it. I found standing while I drink helps too.
  5. There are only a few markets where they offer the single incision lap sleeve

    Goal?

Bubbletoes I agree sizes or people aren't what they use to be! I read all these posts of people who say they're 5'5" tall and weigh 155 pounds and they're wearing size six! 30 plus years ago a size six was the smallest they made and you'd have to be 5'4" and 110 pounds to wear them!

    MUST HAVES FOR SURGERY DAY

I needed nothing! Lips were fine, Chapstick went unopened. Hospital pillow was fine. Wore home same clothes I arrived in. Too sleepy to read or text or talk so didn't need magazines, books, phone or charger. I was only there 28 hours. However, a tranquilizing gun to use on my drama queen roommate might have come in handy! Lol.

    Surgery on the young side

Everyone has felt that way! Also, almost everyone wishes they could've or would've done it sooner! The risks of complications are there, but they are actually very small. The statistics--as I've researched them--seem to imply that the bigger, older and unhealthier you are, the higher the risk. You are probably statistically in a lower risk group (but I'm sure your surgeon will review this with you so go by his word). Surgery can suck for a few days, but I'm sure your big sister can guide you through! Good luck with your decision.

    June 30th Sleevers?

Ten days now and I feel close to normal. I have to carry some kind of liquid protein with me because weakness will overtake me if I don't stay on top of my protein input. Dr says I can start a few puréed foods now but no more than one new thing every day or two. I haven't yet, not sure why, but I can't wait to rid myself of whey protein!

Food Scale - do you really need one?

My protein servings are measured in weight (ounces) and converted into grams of protein. For example two ounces of grilled chicken breast will provide a specific number of grams of protein. Have to use a scale for that.

August 5th sleevers? New here :)

@rossigirl84. God bless you. You have so many obstacles in your life but you still are thinking positively and looking toward the light. Good for you. Your story is very humbling and I respect you immensely.

    Single Incision vs Minimal Incisions

There is such a thing as a laparoscopic single incision sleeve procedure. It's a two inch incision right above your belly button and they insert this "spider" framework that allows the surgeon to prop up your abdominal contents so he can get to your stomach. I believe it depends on how big you are in the belly area and if you're a lower BMI. Google it. There's a video from The Doctors talk show explaining and showing the procedure. I chose to not have it because I was warned the overall abdominal soreness is greater because of how this spider thing stretches your belly. My five little incisions are hardly noticeable and I'm only 9 days post op.

    Smelly..umm..urine????

Could it be a UTI? Some woman don't know they have one until it's really bad. I don't get the stereotypical spasms and pain anymore-I can tell from the smell! Check with your PCP.
  16. I was at hospital overnight and sure wished I went home. My surgery was at 7:30 am and I could have gone home by 3. The night in the hospital was not restful, the staff was not particularly helpful and I was put in a room with a drama queen 72 year old that demanded a lot of attention! If I'd have gone home I would have felt a lot better! I was also self pay and I'd have saved $1200!

    New to fifties group

I saw my NUT today and when I told her I was a little concerned with how much I could drink and my hunger. She said at 9 days out my stomach is still rather numb from being cut and it can take s few week for it to truly feel. She also pointed out that is why the first few weeks are imperative to comsume little amounts regardless if I feel like I can eat more. She said it's better to eat small amounts every 2-3 hours than to put any unfelt pressure on the sleeve. So I'm going to really limit myself to 4 ounces the next four weeks.

    So I've noticed...

I noticed the heavier I got, the more invisible I was to others. I never got really big--enough for people to be downright rude--just big enough I didn't count anymore. Here's to becoming visible in a good way!

    I'm in such a hurry!

I know just what you mean... the first month, I was losing a pound a day almost! Of course I sort of took it for granted because I wasn't eating. Now that I can tolerate solids (at 6 weeks) I'm stalling, and even put a pound back on! It makes me afraid, and I want to stop eating solids and go back to the shakes. I've started obsessing about food, like "maybe I should only have 1/2 that tiny chicken strip" when I used to eat 10x that much! I guess this is my first test, to see if I can make this "lifestyle thing" work. It's intimidating and scary... to not lose would seem so horrible after everything. I'm right there with you DreamWeaver! Everyday I'm worried I did this for nothing. I'm still on full liquids and feel like it's not good enough. I can drink a whole shake at a time and don't feel overly full! I thought I'd be full after a couple of ounces! Arrrgh.
  20. Yes....but I read at least 50% should be from plain old water so our systems don't have filter it out just to rehydrate.

    Cramps... No ibuprofen

I was told NSAIDS are gone for life. I asked my surgeon why so many people say they can take them with no problem. He replied people may "think" they're not having problems, but often the PPIs disguise the erosion that's really happening and some others who don't take PPIs can't feel the problems because of the reduced stomach. It may take years for the problems to become obvious and by then it's a mess or too late. I'm erring on the side of caution and following ABS guidelines. No NSAIDS for me.

    TMI! Question

If possible try stop taking everything! I got into such a terrible cycle after I had my gall bladder out, I thought I was going to die from constipation or the colace/MoM/laxatives. I stopped taking everything and went to an acupuncture doctor. Within 24 hours my body calmed down. I'm only one week post op from my sleeve and started the same cycle at day five, but this time I stopped pain meds and took one dose of MoM and relaxed. It cleared up with 24 hours because I didn't keep trying to hurry it.
