To eat or not to eat! LOL!

Eat Fage plain nonfat Greek yogurt and add fruit. I also will put in a squirt of monk fruit if the fruit isn't very sweet. Keeps the carb count way down. The Kirkland brand plain Greek nonfat yogurt is excellent too. It's cheaper if you belong to Costco.

    Bypass to Sleeve?

Well then you'll be in great condition for the sleeve! There's no doubt it gives you great restriction, so if you eat small portions and concentrate on protein, you will get those 45 off straight away!

    Clothes shopping..... NO FUN.

How many weeks post op are you? What was your starting BMI? I was 33.3 starting BMI and am down 20 pounds in five weeks and it IS noticeable. But NO ONE has said anything other than my hubby who sees me naked! It's frustrating and that helps tweak our brains into thinking we don't look good yet! This is my five week, 20 pound comparison: weird photo booth shot, but it's all I have!
  7. One of the reasons I got my sleeve was due to apnea. I got my machine in April, used it solidly for two months and it worked great. Slept better than I had in years. I use a nasal-only mask because nasal pillow made the bottom of my nose sore. I can get an instant readout every morning on how many AHI events I average per hour. I went from 24 to 3 with the CPAP. I started struggling with the machine the night after my surgery. My tech called me after I uploaded my data last week to say that from June 29th my readings have drastically changed for the WORSE! I had my sleeve June 29th!!! I hate my CPAP now and take it off after 4-5 hours. WTH! I was hoping the surgery would cure the apnea. Maybe over time......

    Should I be worried?

Just don't make that mistake after surgery! I blew out my shoulder 4 weeks after surgery and my orthopedic doc gave me Tylenol with codeine. I took one because it was smaller than an M&M and thought size-wise it'd be ok. WRONG! I thought I was having a heart attack! My stomach, back and chest were in horrible pain and spasms. I repeatedly dry heaved and then threw up slime three times. I won't ever take a pain pill again! After my shoulder surgery next month, I want the liquid pain meds my bariatric surgeon gave me.

    I need help :(

I'm right with you Nicole! I'm only six weeks out but I have discovered a few slider foods that taste great, don't overly fill me, and are full of BAD carbs. They've brought me into a stall. It's only been about 4-5 cheats, but it is mentally terrifying! Thanks for your post and the supportive posts that it provoked!

    Bypass to Sleeve?

Oh my, I wish I could give you a pearl of wisdom or two, but I have no idea what you're going through. I just want to offer my support and encouragement. If you've gotten through those two procedures, the sleeve will be easy! Just approach it like all us newbies out here. Eat small potions (because you have to), concentrate on Protein, and follow your surgeons rules! You can "cheat" with the sleeve (I have), and it's a behavior you've probably acted in with your prior surgery, so just do NOT do it! Commit to the process, follow your rules, and you will love your sleeve. It's not reversible!
  12. Drink your protein. The clear punch-like kind. It goes down easier than water and you get a double benefit. I used G2, it has some carbs, but quite frankly, I needed the short term energy. You can add Unjury no flavored protein to it as well. 30 calories for a 20 ounce bottle for Gatorade G2).

    Struggling - Vitamins and Protein

If you use the Carnation (or do this with any protein powder) mix it with Fair Life Milk. It has a lot more protein because it's extra processed to get rid of impurities and water. The nonfat or 1 % tastes more like whole milk. My NUT suggested it and it's helped me boost my protein. It is also lactose free. But it's also about $4.00 for a little less than half gallon.

    June 30th Sleevers?

My loss is almost exactly the same as yours. I'm choosing not to fret. Leave the scale behind. I read on another thread that one person's surgeon said there is no such as a stall, it's just people who are weighing themselves too much. It's only the total loss after 12 months that truly matters. Hang in there! How often have you lost 25 pounds in a month????

    Questions about vitamins

I take Wellesse liquid given to me by my surgeon. They sell them at Costco. They're liquid so they're pricier, but not bad.

    Question for the ladies.

I got mine reduced and lifted ten years ago when I was thin. LOVE it. Gained 50 pounds and they still looked good. Now post sleeve I'm down 23 pounds and they're as good as they ever were. I'm 53 and could (but wouldn't) go bra free. Scars seemed radical at first, but now they're barely visible. Insurance wouldn't pay then when they were heavy and caused shoulder problems. I seriously doubt they'd pay for a lift.

    June 30th Sleevers?

My surgeon's office has them--but only once a month. I really like and need the group setting, so I wish there were more. I'm contemplating going to OA meetings. Now that I'm post op, I truly realize that I have a food addiction. No surgery cures that.

Strange Info from NUT re: Carbs

Maybe you're losing too fast??? Perhaps you're losing muscle? She may know something and just didn't elaborate.

Strange Info from NUT re: Carbs

If you eat 100 grams of protein a day, that's only 400 calories! If you need to get in 1000-1500 calories, you have to eat 100 grams of carbs plus some healthy fats. I think the post above referring to being able to maintain weight loss by eating more during weight loss is right on. Slower and permanent has got to be the better approach.

    June 30th Sleevers?

I've made it to overweight and left obesity BMI behind! Woo hoo. Today was five week mark, down 21 pounds from SW. I can eat small amounts of nearly anything, but I'm keeping things soft. Haven't tried any vegetables other than those cooked really well and mashable. I cannot imagine eating raw vegetables or a salad. I always loved salads....I can honestly say I am never hungry. Even head hunger is gone. I eat because I have to and when I eat I concentrate on protein. I really don't worry about the other statistics--protein keeps me so full that carbs and fats are really relevant. LOVE my sleeve!

    Probiotic Anyone?

My surgeon has an art me posted in his waiting room that states the probiotic boosting effect to weight loss in bariatric patients. He required their use. Mine is this:

    Gall bladder after sleeve

I had mine three months before my sleeve. It was almost nothing. Really easy. It just took my intestines a few months to get used to the liver continually dripping bile instead of the gall bladder releasing bile after eating.

    New to fifties group

I'm doing great too! Five weeks tomorrow, down 20.4 pounds with 45 to go (SW 200 GW 135). Feel basically normal, I just can only eat a little amount of any real food. I usually get in 65-90 grams of protein, but only if I drink a protein shake or protein fruit punch everyday. It's almost impossible to do it with chicken, fish, beans and dairy. I suppose Greek yogurt could get me there, I just like to not overdo dairy.
