  1. I read that some people here are banded but not filled yet. They are on their post op diets and have lost a LOT of weight(being mostly liq diets). I am also reading that they are H U N G R Y. Ok, the question. What is making you not eat the way you used to. Why can you do it(stick to the rules) this time? You don't have restriction yet so in theory it wouldn't hurt. But you guys are doing it and all the while being hungry. WELL DONE...just wanting to know your psychology behind not eating the old ways...now. Now, once you are filled to restriction there will be no choice. It's the now, pre filled that I am curious about. Thanks. I hope my question is understood. Susan

    My blender SUCKS

Heard and read bad reviews of the Bullet. We bought a similar device from QVC. Susan
  3. Told MIL and FIL as they were with us for the holidays, that I was going to have the LB. WELL! That information apparently went home with them and has trickled down through our family. I asked them to keep this to ourselves until I feel more oreoared with my responses. My SIL called and it seemed, reamed me out. I've gained because of what I put in my mouth. I should simply sTOP it. If I can lose weight(and I have, we all have several dozen times). I can do it again. I told her of a typical pre/post op diet and even some medically supervised diets required by some insurances. She threw it up in my face again. Losing weight on a med sup diet simply proves her point in her opinion. She drove me to tears. I don't know if I will be telling anyone else about this decision. Susan
  4. Ahh Low rise. aside fom me just not liking them they can cause PAIN. Their positioning can aggravate the LFCN and cause Meralgia paresthetica. My Chiro and massage therapist told me about this. Toolbelt wearers, jobs requiring hip holsters and lo rise jeans.....who wouldda' thunk it? Susan
  5. I am going to the official informative meeting Jan 14th. I have an appointment with my PMD next Thursday. Tole her on the phone what I had in mind. We'll talk more at the appt. I have a call into my ins company but have not gotten a callback yet. It figures that I am on hyperdrive with this and it is right in the middle of the holidays! Waiting for the "meeting" seems soo far away. I called the surgeons office to book and I can go see her before that. You all have been very helpful with your replies. I hope I can come in after surgery too to pick your brains. Thanks again, Susan
  6. When it is hot as a witches.......*&^ outside and I have a bottle of water I know full well that I tend to swig/gulp it and can finish a small bottle in a matter of seconds. Now of course that behavior is not desireable with the LB but if it were to happen out of habit, what would it feel like? Would I have water spraying out my nose(like a salad post I read earlier)? Also, bubblies i see are not so good does that mean no Dit Coke ever again? I like the fizz. Susan
  7. There wasn't a choice for I WILL MISS IT!! lol I haven;t had surgery yet but I am cutting out the Diet Cokes as of yesterday to get ready. Susan
  8. Ok, not PB's..not even over doing it... When you are ill, and vomit (regularly) how painful is that? Your sick body doesn't know to take it easy and do it slowly.......... Thankfully I haven't had that kind of sickness for more than three years but I know I was panicked, sweaty, and gasping/wreching for a while. Can you break the band? Can you harm the esophogus? Susan
  9. Did everyone's insurance require a 6 month medically supervised diet record be in their health history? If that's the case I'll never be approved. I haven't had that. Susan
  10. Sorry, I fibbed..I was serious about EVERYthing I asked and wrote BUT the tiramisu was thrown in for a giggle...that's me, sorry. And to tell the truth.....Somewhere in there, someday I will have a bite of it. Total deprvation (FOR ME) would send me over the edge. Whenever I have just done it and lost weight nothign was off limits. The bite once a week or the slice of whatever once a week kept me going. I have a terrible portion problem. I am finally truly seeing this. I thought I had good portions but we are a super size me society....I'm working really really hard on that. That's where I think the LB will be a great tool for me. Susan
  11. The BAD thing about my diet that I know I need to nix, and do on other weigh loss attempts are the chicken SKIN.,,,,loved it. Poms are easy....Get one, take a large LARGE bowl or spaghetti pot and fill with water, Cut the pom and then submerge it...scrape out the pearls and they wont go everywhere. They are delish and so good for you. I think they would be easy enough to mush down....or blend up in a drink. Thanks for your reply. Susan
  12. Nope, not joking around. Not had surgery yet. Happily found the site and it is helping me prepare for Drs visits and the decision itself. ( I have waffled on this several times this weekend). I do eat good food, just too much of it apparently. In reading I have seen mention of bad foods, things which are totally taboo and then with a little more reading I see SOME people are able to tolerate. (namely lettuces and chicken) Yes, all will be done per instruction by my surgeon and LB aftercare team. I just like to be prepared. It takes me a year or two to choose a car. I am a thorough researcher..lol Whats scaring the crap out of me is the amounts of real good nutritious food I am not seeing on peoples diet(the what have you eaten threads). I'm just hoping to get in good quality nutrition. White enriched flour...I'm not on it now(except for Italian bread on Sundays). Although I (IMO) cannot be afraid of a food group. That wasn't a healthy thing for me when trying Atkins and the like after being DX'd with PCOS& Insulin Resistance. Thank you so much for your insight.....and the links. Susan

    Communion Question

It may not be too late to call the Priest and ask him. Perhaps he can give you a wafer instead and a blessing? IMO only, I think God will understand. You are at least AT mass. He knows. Susan

    Can I take a bath?

No baths, showers only. This is from my experience from hysterectomy and lap gallbladder removal. A tip given to me was to get the new plastic...that sticks to itself. Take a piece and put over your belly....hardly anything got on it during a shower. Susan

    Paying a program fee?

I'll be asking about that one, thanks! Remember that any out of pocket medical expenses can be included in the medical deduction at taxtime. Food/shakes and gym memberships aren't but those fees, YES. Susan PS The total of your oop med expenses do have to be 7.5% or 8.5% of your AGI.
  17. Aside from barrier methods (condom, diaphragm) there is only hormonal control. You do know what they call people who only practice the rhythm method don't you? Parents! I used the regualr Ortho Tri Cyclin. I had no problems. Gained about 5 pounds and had bouts of acne. But after being diagnosed with PCOS the acne it seems has never gone away completely. I was going to try Mirena or one of the newer pills where you only have a menstruation 3-4 times a year. Or the Nuva ring?? I, unfortunately needed a hysterectomy in Jan and there's no need for birth control anymore. Susan
  18. Now this is nowhere near as hard as what you guys go through on a daily basis but for each meal today I took teeny bies and chewed until liquified. It took a LONG time and my mouth was full of saliva.....with each swallow. If I was banded would this lead to sliming? Also, why no drinknig with food? That's a habit I would have to work very hard at to quit. Is it because the food will go through faster....therefore making the attempt to restrict calories pointles...or is it that things will get stuck?? Thanks again, Susan:hungry:
  19. I think I am more afraid of the accidental swallows. I am constantly taking note on how I am eating/chewing. A ew times I KNOW a swallowed a glob of food that if I was banded....OUT SHE COMES!! That first bite, I noticed is hard for me.....breakfasts and dinners.... I'm on the phone tomorrow with insurance so I have the req's inhand when I go to the Doc. You guys have been soo helpful. Hope you don't mind more silly questions. Susan
  20. IS the port repositioned for a tummy tuck? Does it protrude more after a tummy tuck? Susan
  21. We are people watchers too. Out at dinner we will talk about what peoples stories might be. Their body language and facial expressions tell a story of their own. I have never been with an obese man. I've never been attracted to one. They have all been "normal" weight and slightly muscluar. All have been athletes(do weekend warriors count??). That said, I have many overweight friends of both sexes. I do not lower their value because of their weight. Could I fall in love(if I werent married) to an overweight person, sure I guess but I'm attracted to my type. Susan
  22. I grew up in a home filled with Dems and so registered the first time I was able to vote. When I knew better, I changed parties. I consider myself a "compassionate" Conservative...lol. I would never vote a straight party line though......that's a rather ignorant way to do anything. I am not a lemming. I have voted out of my party before because the candidate in my opinion was more worthy. I do believe in voting in every election down to local elections. I want less gov't overseeing and less taxes. I work hard for my money. I hate entitlement programs. I think they have been grossly abused and long lost their original need(a helping hand UNTIL you could make it). I have a hard time with illegal immigration and the US not having a national language. My family came from Italy, Ireland and Poland. All were first gen Americans and their parent HAD to learn English in order to get a job and be a productive part of their famkily and society. I always wonder about the language troubles we have here in the US. I would NEVER dream of moving (let's say) to France and not learning French. It's absurd. The major issue that I disagree with my "party" is their stand on environmental issues...but even then, I do agree that we should drill in ANWR. We're not that bad...either are Dems for that matter. There are looney tunes on both sides. I wish people could really talk religion and politics without coming to blows. Not that I see any fighting here but we just had an argument at my house a few days ago. P E A C E Susan
  23. Wow, and so many here wrote how they liked them. I hate the taste of nearly all of the protein/weighloss drinks. Which others did you like? Susan
  24. Never cheated on my husband. I don't think he ever cheated on me. A very dear friend was cheated on and moved in with us with her kids for a few months. The reconciled. It was awful for them. check out survivinginfidelityDOTcom. Many of the people there never had a clue. Susan
