SLEEVE REVISION TO GASTRIC BYPASS
Mooseknuckle replied to shoregirl75's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi I just went through the revision surgery . On Apr 2. It has been tough but it will get easier . I didn't gain any weight after my sleeve I just ripped my hernia repair. Trying to lift to much weight . Cause of my own pain and it was bad . Now I am feeling much better just started my soft foods . That is a struggle to make sure you chew really well cause blockage is easy . The opening in your new stomach is only about the size of a pencil eraser -
Hi everyone It has been several months since I was on here . I am now at 262 lbs yaaa. but i have been at a stall because of a medical issue . I tried going back to my job in the oilfields and my functional capacity test was terrible the company made me lift 125lbs from floor to a shelf at chest level 15 times then walk 100ft with it and step up and down off a stool. 30 times. then walk back and do the shelf one again. had to do this 3 times. But long story short the drills were no problem but it ripped my hyadila hernia repair on my gastric sleeve. I passed my test but 3 days after I was having such severe pain and I couldn't eat much anymore it hurt bad to eat unless it was soft stuff so I ate a lot of mashed potatoes and gravy with ground meat for almost a year.( Forgot to say I had to resign from my job it hurt to bad). finally went back to my surgeon and he did all the tests and found that my stomach was falling out. It damaged my sleeve too. So I just had a revision surgery Apr 2 . Had a nice rip in there. took 9 or 10 stitches to fix and of coarse revised to a gastric bypass now. It has been a challenge to have this change a tablespoon size stomach lol I can do this I have been through it before and with all you great people supporting each other makes this so much easier. I am converting to my soft stage today . i had a tablespoon of salmon mixed with yogurt and seasonings of coarse. yummy . It was a good 30 minutes to eat that but it went well. I am going to attempt to attach before and after pictures. I should lose about another 50 lbs. with this surgery. doctor wants only 30 to 40 at the most ? his goal weight is 230 lbs. but he thinks it will go closer to 200lbs. as I am 6ft 2inches tall and haven't been 200lbs since 8th grade lol.

hey beautiful people a me update
Mooseknuckle replied to Mooseknuckle's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you everyone it has been a long road but all worth every little bite . It is amazing the tools you learn to change your own out come. the surgery is only a tool. We all are on the right path to success . It is different for everyone. I don't want my story to scare anyone away from this. and for the salmon I will be able to eat it soon .I smoked it and vacuum sealed it. Lol . I thank you all it is so great to have all these people for support. Plus so many new recipes to go along with our new lives wow. I never in my life would have thought of cauliflower as pizza crust or tortilla's and make a bread with it to have a ham and cheese sandwich . I cannot eat this stuff now but i will later much later. Cauliflower mashed up tastes just like potatoes. It also makes great lasagna I cook a lot even after this surgery. Isn't it funny how it just makes you not hungry. Really have to remember to feed myself. Haven't got the nerves to blend up lasagna yet lol . split pea soup isn't bad though. lots of sugar free popsicle's are my friend lol they really feel good going down and reduce the swelling a lot. plus 2 oz of liquid per . So it helps on our liquid intake -

Constipation During Liquid Diet
Mooseknuckle replied to CurlyV's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep up on the stool softeners . and the good old emma. lol that is what we have called it since I was young. I literally used KY jelly when I was that bad . yes it sounds gross but it worked (as a lub not orally) lol. I know it isn't nothing to laugh at .I started bleeding cause it was so hard . then after that I stayed on top of my Muralax . every evening and my pro biotics and stool softeners. Like they said it is a real pain in the ass literally -
I take all my pills but right after surgery They gave me liquid pain meds that was easier . but my blood pressure meds had to be dropped as my blood pressure went way low with them it is nice to not have that. but I take capsules for stool softeners and such . They go down but I can definitely feel them. I just keep sipping my liquids and they seam to go down ok

Gastric Bypass & Sleeve - Advice Please
Mooseknuckle replied to DJB0888's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
You have been given a tool .not a fix. we all still have to make smart decisions after these surgeries. I had to have a revision because of making a decision to lift to much weight and ripped my hyadila hernia repair . thus causing more problems now that is fixed and I now have a Bypass instead of a sleeve . Just have to retrain myself and get in the right mind set to eat the right foods with this bypass. very little at a time . I lost all my appetite after this surgery . -

Revision Surgery to a Gastric Bypass
Mooseknuckle replied to mcetbmb's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a revision from a sleeve to a gastric bypass . due to a hernia repair that ripped and damaged my sleeve and my diaphragm. it is tough eating but i am drinking at the least 130 oz a day in fluids and am just now starting on my soft food stage . I take Salmon and mix it well with plain yogurt and season salt. put in 1 oz cup and eat that every 2 hrs . plus all my drinks and such . Lots of ice pop's. protein shakes suck but have to get them in. and vitamins . only thing I am struggling with this time is constipation . haven't gained any weight after first surgery.. just stopped losing weight due to the soft foods I was eating were not on my list of healthy but they were easy to eat and didn't cause pain . now it is a struggle to eat anything over the size of a golf ball. Haven't figured out how to cook one of those down yet lol -
Pre-op weight-loss!!!!!!!!!!!
Mooseknuckle replied to bbk95's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't think so much about weight just follow the plan and you will be ready for surgery . The weight comes off everyone different. So don't set your expectations high just follow through with what you are taught . It works . Some lose fast and some lose it slow and some have stall outs at different stages. You are doing great just hang in there Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App -
I failed...I didn't succeed with sleeve!
Mooseknuckle replied to azgirl44's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did the pouch reset. It helped me get back on track I have lost 10 more lbs in 8days . Alot is water weight but it made me look at things different . It resets your head too. It isn't easy but it works and the uncomfortable feeling is back when you eat to much so I make sure I am minding my p's and q's. And dotting my no beer either and I love my beer. It is best to stay away from that stuff because the alcohol numbs the stomach and you also eat to much at least I did . Please look up pouch reset. And get yourself back on track you can do this . We all have an awsome tool . I was 458lbs when I started this journey and I am now back down to 268lbs. So it works . Mind set, mind set ,mind set Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App -

Wow you look beautiful in that dress. Great job . Congrats on the getting married. Taping does work but if you get good sticky tape it works but it sucks coming off Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App -
You bet that is what we are here for to support each other

That is what I do too I can't drink after for 30 to 45 minutes or i feel very uncomfortable and I never got dumping syndrome with sweets so I stay totally away from them as I ate fudge for Christmas and it wasn't much but made me sick . Never again bad bad bad stuff . I thought I had the flu. Lol. It was my body slapping me in the face lol. Saying feed me good stuff
-
It also allows the stomach to stretch which in turn allows you to eat more food . Everyone is different. This worked well for me on reset . So I stick to it . I am only trying to help out if I am wrong I am sorry

Make sure not to drink 30 minutes before you eat and 30 minutes after This allows your body to absorb the nutrients it needs if you drink before or after it flushes it out of your pouch to soon and then you body goes into a starvation mode . Increasing your Water intake in between will help too . But truthfully most of us go through these stalls about then . You are doing great just keep it up . It ain't easy to be who we want to be . So be yourself and enjoy your new you Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

And by the way you look awsome 70lbs in 4 months is great don't kick yourself so hard . Life is great and we all are kickin it???? Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

Don't be so hard on yourself this is only a tool kiddo . Just go back to the 5 day pouch reset . 2 days of liquid 2 days of very soft foods and 5 th day back to soft Proteins and stop the eating if possible that stuff is habit forming and this is what we have to train ourselves to do it is all about you . food is an addiction and you will see how you shouldn't eat on the five day reset . Always think of your stomach as about the size of 2 boiled eggs and eat slow and only put that much in . You will feel full and don't drink fluids with or 30 minutes before or after eating . This allows your body to absorb what it needs . Other than that you flush it out to quick and it puts it into starvation mode. So everything you eat will go where you don't want it to . Drink lots of Water between meals . It does curb your appetite a bit and drink a Protein shake in between if you think you really need something else . You got this kiddo you can do it . We all go through a stall at 3 to 4 months . So don't feel like it's just you . I am 20 months out and was 200lbs down but gained 18lbs over 3 months and now am back on track so this reset does work on your stomach and your mind . Your mind is your biggest enemy Then it is usually the none supporters around you that have no idea what you are going through this is no easy task it is the easy way out for sure. NOT the easy way out...
Mooseknuckle replied to bodyslmmn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started going backwards before Christmas. I am 19 months out . I gained 15lbs all because I found it real easy to eat soft things that didn't bother my stomach . Like fudge . A big no no . I am back on track . Now I have lost another 5 lbs and going strong -

NOT the easy way out...
Mooseknuckle replied to bodyslmmn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nope not an easy way out at all . Especially when most of us love food . We all have to redesign the way we eat and what we eat and how we eat and how and when to exercise. Just a big change in life and I love my changes Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App -
Stupid Question, but oh well, I'll still ask...
Mooseknuckle replied to Coachthex32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gained 15lbs through November and December because I ate things I shouldn't even after they made me sick because they went down easy . Fudge was awsome but oh so sick did I get . Slap Slap lol. I need to get back on the path
