In my experience having my PCP document my need to lose weight over several consecutive years was a good thing. However, his letter to Aetna also needed to indicate the same. My BMI fluctuated between a 38 up to 41 at time of this process. I was approved with no problem. My WL surgeons office knew how to put all docs together to meet their approval and they made sure I followed their checklist . From what I see on this site, that's the biggest part. I even gained 3lbs during my weight management period but ended with a net loss of 1lb submitted to insurance. Try not to stress.

Yes! No cravings at all. Love that part. LOL -
Shame in sharing WLS with friends/family?

I initially didn't want anyone to know. As my date approached my family began asking questions. My vague responses were not biding well so I decided to take them on this journey with me. I have a very public position so at some point the obvious weight loss question will arise. Hmmm...? -
I haven't tried the powder. Good to know.

That was a waste of my money! #hatedit

Jealous and Frustrated :(

My insurance allows you to choose a 3 month or 6 month multidisciplinary weight management program. I chose the three month program but have to admit it was rigorous. In the end it took 6 months from my initial consultation to surgery date. My doc says insurances require this "waiting" period because the surgery is just a tool. We have to learn new eating habits or we'll eventually gain all the weight back. You can do this - it's well worth it. Good luck. -
Is anyone using a FitBit to track their progress? Looking for online buddies.

Don't feel like I had surgery
muzical1 replied to Emmyandlisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc said the better shape you're in before surgery, the easier your recovery. A month before surgery I purchased a Fitbit and increased my walking to 8000 steps per day (not always able to hit 10K). Try to get moving before - I believe it makes a difference regardless of starting BMI. -

I'm having the same experience too. I keep wondering if my stomach is really the size of an egg or not because I'm feeling well. Kinda wish I could see an x-ray. LOL. I'm grateful this process has been good so far. -
Take it easy and don't be so hard on yourself. If the sadness and tears linger, speak with your physician. You just had major surgery, you may need a short term prescription for anti-anxiety meds or anti-depressants to help you get over the shock of it all. Do what you have to do to take care of you.

I had little to no pain after surgery. I was given meds via an IV, so I didn't have any problems. When it was a bit more pronounced, it was increased. By 3rd day no pain meds needed at all. Everyone has a different pain threshold.

I chose the Flex because it's smaller on my wrist and looks good bejeweled. LOL

I gained two pounds during my program. Got chewed out for it. By the time if my final weigh in I was one pound less than my initial weight. My doc didn't seem concerned that I hadn't lost more.

The surgery went well. I had no discomfort until later that evening when I was nauseous from the anesthesia. Today, my pain mess have been reduced and I'm just a little sleepy. You'll do just fine. -

Two week pre-op diet protein shakes only help!
muzical1 replied to Faithoftheheart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm near the end of my two week liquid diet. I was also able to eat as many raw vegetables as I wanted between the 4 daily shakes. That was the best for me - ate a lot of carrots and salads with no dressing. -
