H. Pylori? Answers please!
muzical1 replied to sbagby1960's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They're just treating it before surgery. I didn't have it but my doc told me it would not prevent surgery. I has the nose swab come back positive for bacteria. I had to use a salve for 10 days before surgery. You'll be fine. -
I've got 5 more pounds to go before joining you. So excited!

Curious and confused
muzical1 replied to lyndsayc21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon gave me simple facts to help with my decision. Research shows higher long-term weight loss success with rny than other procedures. However, according to this site, the sleeve seems to have good results too. I chose rny because of this and despite the adjustment, I'm very happy with it. Attend a support group session and that will be helpful to you as well. -
Does everyone's hair fall out?
muzical1 replied to alindsey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not everyone. My doctor advised me to take biotin a few months before surgery. For those who experienced loss it will grow back once your nutrients are back on par. -
I was tempted to eat a few bites of roasted chicken at that stage and was sick for 24 hours. You may be fine.

What food do you miss after your weight loss surgery?
muzical1 replied to raec81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I loved cake before surgery. Tasted a slice a few weeks ago and was sick the remainder of the day. I miss it, but happily give it up. -
Try B12 supplements.

Any Chicago/Illinois Sleevers/Bypass? Pre or Post Op
muzical1 replied to Sleevemetoo15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
great! Where will you have your surgery done? -
I had the worst time losing weight during my 3 month weight management program which was at the same time as my final grad school semester. I gained 4lbs the second month and ended with a net loss of only 1lb by end of the program. Aetna approved me as my doctor said a loss is a loss.

Cheated on liquid diet
muzical1 replied to jppaul16438's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I slipped a couple times during my pre-op diet. But I was a saint for the 7-8 days that preceded surgery. Didn't want the surgeon finding any food in my digestive system. It's hardest the first week, afterwards you will see it's not as bad. -

I'm from the Chicago Northshore suburbs. I had my bypass done on 6/24. How are you? -
Why does your taste change after surgery?
muzical1 replied to RuxieGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 4 weeks post-op and found that the foods I used to love have little appeal anymore. When I see someone eating something, I have no desire to eat it. When I have tasted a couple things, the satisfaction to eat it was gone. I kinda like this for now. I will probably never enjoy eating the way I used to and maybe that's a good thing. Eat to live vs Live to Eat. -

I'm three weeks post op and my stomach is nauseous and hurts whenever I eat or drink something, including water. Has anyone experienced this? Just sent message to my doc but they probably won't see before Monday. Help!
-
Wow! Thank you so much. The on call doc told me to go back to liquid diet and see my doc on Monday because for now I am not vomiting. It just feels weird that every time something hits my stomach it hurts like my pouch is irritated. Thank you so much for your suggestions. Doc says for me to stay hydrated for now. That's a tall order because it hurts. Ugh!

I felt the same way. It feels like your life is in the balance. Sometimes they respond quickly, sometimes it takes 2-3 weeks. Try to relax and trust it's going to be fine. -
I went for the first time today at 3 weeks post-op. It felt wonderful to do the work this process requires.
