The importance of a food scale!
Chelsea Dagradi replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree.. The scale is soo important. Guestimations can be really off and if you stick to never eating more than 4 oz of food all together then you should never be in a situation where you stretch your sleeve. -
I miss having a drink
Chelsea Dagradi replied to ej96's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started drinking at 2 months post op. I know this is a little early but it is hard because a lot of your social life is going out to eat/grabbing a drink. I couldn't physically sit down and eat a whole meal but sometimes unwinding with a few friends and drink is good for the soul. I was very cautious about what I was drinking though- I didn't want to drink the empty calories, carbs and suffer later by not losing weight. So I invited friends over to my place- I bought Tito's vodka (which is less than half the calories [60] of other regular vodkas] and also bought Diet Cranberry juice- which i believe had 3g carbs and a lot less of everything else and very low calorie. I drank 2 of these and felt great. No stomach pain/ didn't bother my stomach/ and had a good buzz- wasn't shit faced. I think you need to follow your body's signals when it comes to certain things and not be so hard on yourself. -

This was a great read. This article answers a lot of questions people have and I believe EVERYONE should read this before getting the surgery. It is so brutally honest and I think it is what people need to hear. -
My body is going crazy
Chelsea Dagradi replied to bb3586's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think this could be related to your stomach acid! A lot of surgeons say that even though you have a small stomach your body takes time to adjust- so for a while your stomach is producing just as much acid as if you had your old, large stomach! This could cause you to feel very nauseous/uncomfortable and even make you vomit. I was prescribed Omeprazole (Prilosec) 40mg daily for the first 3 months to help with this problem. On the days I don't take it I feel very nauseous and could definitely throw up but I try and hold it back. You could check with your doctor and get over the counter prilosec if you aren't prescribed/taking it already. -
De-Caf Coffee?
Chelsea Dagradi replied to JessterNC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been drinking full caffeinated coffee since 7 weeks post op and have no issues. I usually have 2 cups a day and I feel since I've started it has actually sped up my weight loss because of the caffeine stimulation. Unless you are having 5 cups a day coffee does not dehydrate you so it also has been helping with keeping my Fluid intake up. It also keeps me full so if I'm feeling like i want a snack I will just drink the coffee and be satisfied. I'm almost 3 months post op and try and stay between 600-800 calories a day.
