  1. PKinneB...I am scheduled for revision surgery in September but have been attending my bariatric support groups since May (three a month). At my last group there was a woman who spoke about her stall. She was doing everything right: sticking to the dietary plan, Water, exercise etc.... She did NOT lose weight for the first THREE months. Her body was holding on to everything it could. Finally, when her body realized she was not starving, she began to lose weight rapidly. (two pounds a DAY) Eventually she leveled out and everything worked out. She is eight years post-op and looks great. Her advice to the group, and mine to you is, do not give up! Ride it out. Do what you need to do, stick to your regime and stay clear of the scale- weigh once weekly if you can. Keep the faith!
  2. This is my biggest and worst fear! I am scheduled for surgery in September and I don't know how I will cope with daily should never have been) an option., What do you do in the "moment" to cope? Great topic.

    Today's surgery

Best wishes to you both! Sending prayers your way!
  4. Prayers and blessings coming your way.
  5. I feel like I am having commitment issues with having surgery. They just moved my surgery up a week and well, I am still unsure. Is this normal? Part of me doesn't want to have this surgery and feels like I should be doing something behaviorally by now to help cement my decision. All I have done is switched to decaf coffee and Stevia sweetener. I didn't have a struggle with commitment my first two Weight Loss procedures. I am worried of failing and of not being ready.

    Commitment Issues

Sajijoma....that's exactly how I feel. Thank you for expressing what I could not. I need this to work, I need to make it happen.

    Commitment Issues

Dub - thank you for replying. The coffee switch is in preparation for the surgery. For actual weight loss....I am walking, drinking more Water, truly making successful effort at staying away from sugary foods- as much as possible, eating Protein first, veggies next, seeing a therapist every two weeks to address the "food addiction" issue, attending support groups twice a month- sometimes three if I can make it.....etc, etc. I am speaking of the "certainty" of decision making. The part where you actually become excited for the new you too emerge. I remember being so excited with my previous surgery (sleeve). Felt hopeful, felt empowered, did not question if I was making the right decision, I just knew. This time around I am very apprehensive and I suppose getting cold feet.

    Commitment Issues

There is no way I am the only one on this forum who feels this way. Does no one else feel uncertain? Gosh, now I feel like an anomaly.....odd ball out :/
  9. Hi all. I am wondering what the pain management of inflammation or body aches/pains is post bypass. I have MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and after taking my injection (Plegridy) I take two to three Advil/Ibuprofen to ease the side effects (flu like symptoms). Also, I have arthritis issues and have knee inflammation that requires an occasional dose. What do you take and is it effective? Thanks for your feedback
  10. So, my birthday is September 28th and my procedure is scheduled for September 21st. How will I get through that? What do I do?

To tell or not to tell...

One more thing.......NOT doing something is also life threatening. They sound a bit like controlling bullies

To tell or not to tell...

BUMP them! This is YOUR personal journey and the only one you should (for support, assistance and encouragement) tell already knows - your husband! There comes a time when you have to put other people's expectations and feelings to the curb and put you and YOUR family first. This decision to have a weight loss intervention just that. Remember, you didn't consult anyone when you were eating or working on creating a family - why start now. You are grown, you are mature, you are doing this for your health and you are doing this for your family. Shut the peanut gallery down or better yet tell your husband, when the time is ready, to counsel his parents in being respectful in your decision for your body. I type this with support to you.

    October 2015 Gastric Bypass

Well congrats on overcoming the hurdle and sticking to your plan despite setbacks! That is a difficult task all on its own. Many have just given up! October will be here sooner than you think. I feel the pain with having to wait, my WLS is scheduled for September 21st. Keep looking forward.....
  14. Why didn't I think of this post!! lol Great job Karlnjax! I am pre-op. Surgery scheduled for September 21st. I hope you get some replies because I would like to know as well. Right now, I am weaning myself off of caffeinated coffee. I am up to 85% decaf. Next week (or maybe tomorrow) I will be full decaf. Next is creamer. Right now I do the Internat Hazelnut creamer. Once I switch to full decaf I will do part hazelnut creamer and nonfat creamer, then ultimately just nonfat creamer and Splenda.

    Progress so far! (Pics)

You look fabulous! Go ahead now.... I hope to do as well as you - what an inspiration.
  16. at costco........Premier Protein. unjury website has a sample pack, but this is online ordering. I noticed we are having same surgeon! Maybe I'll see you at support group tomorrow. ~Jamila
  17. I guess another way to answer your question would be to imagine the rest of your life as you are now. Would you/are you happy in your body; do you think you will live as long of a healthy life in your present state as opposed to having the intervention?.............if NO is your answer to either question, then perhaps you are making the right decision. There is only one way to see. Don't let your "food addict" get in your way. Worst thing you could do is not try. I think statistics prove, WLS is no miracle weight reducer. If you regret having the procedure done, there are plenty of ways to getting back to where you are now. 65% of WLS patients go back to who they were all the time - it is called sabotage. I believe you will be happy once you see the results. Try not to overthink it. I am sure we all at one point or another will regret having it done. Particularly in the beginning stages. Withdrawal from any substance/behavior is difficult....from coffee/soda/alcohol or cursing to hardcore drugs/promiscuity/gambling and Eating for pleasure. Good luck. I know it is hard. I too am struggling with the "what if's". The longer we have to wait, the more time we have to torture ourselves. Some days are better than others. Just take it one day, one hour, one minute, one second at a time. Best wishes to you! I am desperately waiting for September 21st! My scheduled day.

    Sugar Addiction

    Krisrpaz.....what is whole30?
  19. Me again :/ Curious. I just came back from my work lunch break. I went to Panera bread and ate an entire sandwich, bag of chips and had small cup of Water. I wont be able to manage that after the bypass, correct? I have the sleeve at the moment and I want to make sure I will be able to stop when full.

    Sleeve Vs. Bypass

BTW- with the Sleeve I did develop Reflux/Gerd. Been on Nexium ever since. I understand that with the Bypass, this will no longer be an issue ---- Hoorrayyyyyy!
  21. India928

    Sleeve Vs. Bypass

I strongly suggest the Bypass. Personally, having had the Lap Band and Sleeve and NOW moving to the Bypass, I wish I had the courage to do the bypass from the beginning. I believe the higher your BMI, the better chances for success is the Bypass. The Sleeve does work, I lost 110 pounds with it, but..... Best wishes with whichever you decide to choose.

    Psych consult

@leana123 I am sorry for your disappointment. I didn't have psych tell me that but I did have Nutrition say that to me. It is something we don't want to hear that's for sure. I have been going to therapy since August '14 and it helps. This will be my third WLS, the FINAL one! For me it is all about, what will I do differently this time around that I didn't do with the Lap band and/or the Sleeve......answer - Counselling; monthly support groups and monthly nutritionist appointments. I would say, get the counselling BUT also, go get a second opinion. Neither of which will hurt you or the process and who knows, maybe your second opinion will give you the "all clear".....? Chin up - keep us posted Hugs
  23. Maybe they gave you a slightly larger pouch than average...? From what I read, 2 eggs sounds like too much to be able to consume. IDK - I haven't had the procedure yet. I would just try to eat the way your supposed too. Unless it is because your hungry? Are you hungry?
  24. How is the liquid diet going so far....?
