Then at 4 weeks I added veggies and fruits. Now at 6 weeks I've been adding in small amounts of carbs.
-
When I could introduce solids I was told to start with just proteins like yogurt, milk, ground white meats, eggs, and protein shakes.

Thanks for understanding! I just hate that I spent this money and as of right now I feel like I regret doing so because it really hasn't changed anything yet. I'm not swollen anymore so I'm starving and without a fill for another 2 weeks in worried I'll just stay the same or worse... Gain weight. I def can't eat as much as before but I feel like I'm starving a lot.

Thank you for the encouraging words. I needed them! I lost 10lbs very quickly after surgery because of the diet you follow post surgery. Now that I am on pretty much normal foods without restrictions (other than portion size restrictions) I have gained 3lbs. I'm hungry a lot. I kinda fell off the Protein shakes but have started back again. I'm going to stick to just protein and very small portions of carbs until my fill on 8/17 and see what happens. I want to be able to be under my post op appointment weight when I go for a fill. That was 284.6 and I'm back at that as of today. Hopefully it keeps going down.

1-2lbs a week is normal. I know. I read all the stuff my doc sent and I went to all the meetings but tell that to my head who's screaming, " you just spent $9k on this surgery and you've barely lost 10lbs!" Lol.
-
Oh, I'm def listening to the doctor. I was just stressing about the slow weight loss. Thanks Believe me I don't cruise for the food, it not always that great anyway lol. I cruise for the travel. It's amazing. We had this booked since January and I didn't decide to have surgery until March/April.

Yeah, I need to just do high Protein and almost eliminate all carbs. I can't eliminate them entirely because I need to satiate that need for bread/pasta/rice. I actually weighed myself this morning and I'd lost 2lbs so that was a nice surprise. It also shows me that the high protein low carb thing works. Gotta keep trucking along like you said. :-)

So I had surgery on June 15. I am down 10lbs from following the pre and post op surgery diet but I'm starting to get hungry and I won't get my first fill until after I come back from vacation (my doc preferred I wait until after I come back) on Aug. 17. That's exactly 2 months from surgery. I'm worried I won't lose anymore weight from now until my fill because of this gnawing little hunger I'm starting to get back since my swelling is down. I guess I thought I'd see more weight loss at this point. I seem to lose a pound or two and then I weigh myself and it's back to just the 10lb weight loss. I guess I just need to stick to more Protein and less everything else. I already feel like I don't eat enough to be satisfied. Ugh I'm frustrated.

I was banded on 6/15, had my post op appointment on 6/23 and everything was healing and looked good according to the surgeon. After speaking with the surgeon and talking about our summer plans (I'm a teacher so I'm off until August 17) and I told him I had a cruise booked Aug. 8. He suggested that instead of getting my first fill a month from my appointment (on 7/23) I instead get it after my vacation on 8/17. I'm worried I won't lose as much weight as I hoped I would this summer without a fill. I definitely can't eat at much as I could pre-surgery so I know eating less like I do now will help me lose weight but I guess I'm just stressing because I feel like I paid all this money and won't be doing as well as I hoped this summer. I'm probably worrying for nothing. I've lost almost 10lbs from being on the liquids and soft foods diet but now that I'm introducing more normal foods the weight loss is slowing down. I guess I'd be happy with 2-3lbs a week but it looks more like 1-2lbs instead.

I am now a week post op. According to my doctors diet plan I am eating very small, 1-2 oz portions, of soft Proteins. I've been doing ground turkey and ground chicken. Soft cheeses. Creamed Soups (homemade with either 1 or 2% milk). eggs. In very small portions. I find that if I eat more than 2-3oz I get a full pain in the middle of my back. I have my first post op appt tomorrow with my surgeon. I weighed myself this morning and I'm down 9lbs. Crazy for just one week. I'm hoping to find out when I'll get my first fill.

I'm glad you're taking time off to recover. I'm a teacher and off for the summer so I won't have to be back to work until August 17. Quick update, I'm now 5 days (almost 6) post op and I feel 100% better. The pain is almost gone. Just slight pain from moving too quickly or port area pain like sharp stabbing pain inside. I did have a coughing episode yesterday where all the phlegm was coming up from anesthesia and being intubated. I was worried it would mess up my band like make it slip or something but after some research i realized I'd have to be coughing for days and days to actually cause something to shift. I have my first post op appointment Tuesday morning. I am eating ground white meats and puréed Soups and have lost almost 10lbs so far. I am just starting to get that hungry feeling and hoping when I get my first fill in another few weeks it'll calm that hunger down. I'm not hungry all the time I'm just not feeling as satiated with the small puréed meals. I'm sure once I can eat more normal meals that include not just Protein alone but include a veg and a carb that I'll feel more satisfied.

My doctor said to avoid alcohol for almost 6-9 weeks. 6 weeks was good but 9 would be best. Edited to add: just looked through my paperwork from the doc and they recommend a year without alcohol. I'm not a big drinker (maybe once a month) but I do have a vacation coming up so I don't know how I'll do.

I was banded on Monday 6/15 and still can't sleep on my stomach. I just started sleeping on my left side so hopefully stomach sleeping is next.
-
I think that it may be the pouch being full too. When I eat (even a small bite of cottage cheese or ground meat) I feel this stabbing pain in the middle of my back for a bit until the food goes down. Things are very angry and swollen inside right now, according to my doc and nurse so any middle abdomen pain is normal.

@@Jocelyn I'm now 3 days post op and feel 100% better. I am sore at the incision spots and can only sleep on my right side or on my back for a short time. But it's better. Much better! We should totally stay in touch. I have my first post op appt on Tuesday. We'll see how I'm progressing.
