  1. Hi Amy! I was so nervous myself. But it's been a week and a half and I'm back to my normal self. It was easy. The hardest part is watching others eat around you because you mentally want some. I've lost 22 pounds so far since starting the 2 week liquid diet. You're going to be nervous, that's natural but you also don't want to look back 10 years from now and wish you did it. Good luck!
  2. My incisions are so itchy today!!! I guess that's a good thing cuz I'm told they're healing but OMG it's driving me nuts! I just want to scratch them but I know it will hurt!
  3. Well, I'm counting from the time I started my preop diet. I've lost 11 pounds since surgery. 10 pounds with the 2 week preop diet
  4. I went to the dr today for my follow up. I lost 21 pounds!! ???????????????????????? the reason why my incisions itched so much is be I had an allergic reaction to the glue! Dr gave me a prescription to clear it up. Otherwise they said in doing very well.
  5. I bought the PB2 online. I'm actually having a hard time finding the Isopure.
  6. Update: I went to my follow up today and it turns out I had an allergic reaction to the surgical glue. My dr prescribed my a pill to take to clear it up.
  7. I had a shake with PB2 in it for breakfast, a protein bar for lunch, and salad with fat free dressing for dinner. I cheated the Friday before surgery and had sushi lol. It wasn't too bad. I lost 10 pounds in those 2 weeks. It gives you a jump start on losing weight. If you're anything like me you won't have trouble at all. Though a few on this thread have had some different experiences than I. Good luck!!
  8. Yay! @@TeeNahh!! It can only get better from here!!! You had a rough start.
  9. I too have redness underneath the patches. So weird! I'm going to the dr tomorrow for my follow up. I'll see what he says then.
  10. My bowels are watery too. It started yesterday and I've gone 3 times since then. I thought it might have been contributed to getting my period. Ugh. TMI! I have an iud and I haven't had a period in months and it is brutal this month. Ive actually had to take my pain meds from cramping. Thank God for the prescription doc gave me. My husband made me fat free cream of chicken soup today and it was fantastic!! I go for my follow up on Tuesday. Today I'm feeling a little lightheaded too.
  11. I've lost 15 pounds also lol. So I can't complain. Here are weeks 2 and 3 for the diet transitions for me:
  12. Lol me too! And next weeks diet transition is still boring. I can't wait for week 3!
  13. One of the reasons why I had this surgery was because if I didn't have something physically stopping me from eating unhealthy foods I would never achieve my weight loss goals. I know eventually that day will come where I have to resist my urge to indulge again, but by then I will have lost enough to know it isn't worth it to eat so much. If it wasn't for this surgery physically stopping me right now I would have caved and not gotten back on the eating healthy wagon again.
  14. Happy 4th everyone!! Today was a true test for me. Independence Day is my all time favorite holiday and it is surrounded by food, friends, and fireworks. My absolute favorite thing to eat is grilled food. Watching my friends indulge in all the goodies while I sipped my Isopure was hard. And I did not budge! Partially because I know if I ate it I would be sorry! But now that I'm home I'm realizing life isn't always about food. Even though I wanted it, I still had a great time with friends and still laughed. How was everyone else's 4th? Anyone else have temptations? I hope you all had a fun, safe, and healthy holiday!
  15. @@TeeNahh I'm glad you're getting out tomorrow!! What did you need a drain for?
  16. Hi everyone. I'm scheduled for 7:30 am on Monday for bypass. Nerves are starting to settle in. My husband had bypass a year and a half ago and I remember when he immediately came out of recovery he was shaking so much from pain. This is all I have imprinted in my mind right now. I know his pain was temporary but I'm wondering if it was just his reaction to anesthesia or if it happens to everyone. Seeing him like that was enough for me to put off having surgery for this long. I'm going to do it regardless, but my nerves are getting the best of me. Ahhhh!!!
  17. I'm happy to hear you are starting to feel better!! I'm one pound down since I was weighed in before surgery. But I still feel hungry. It doesn't help that my husband is watching the food network. But I know if I eat something it's going to hurt so it's definitely not worth it. I'm having a hard time getting my 40 grams of protein in with the isopure. Not that I dont like it, but after 3 sips my stomach hurts a little so I stop and then forget to go back for more. I guess I have to get into that habit.
  18. I just wanted to say thank you for those who gave me advice that my husbands pain might have looked worse than it was and that all people are different. I am doing great, only pain I have is neck/shoulder pain and it's tolerable. My diet consists of chicken broth, Jello, and Isopure. I am having a hard time getting my 40 grams of Protein in though. I take a few sips, then get that full feeling and then forget to drink again. I'm probably getting 30 grams per day. However, my urine output is 3 times a day, and it's supposed to be 4, so I don't consider that too bad. I was so scared last week and now that it's over I can't wait to start seeing the scale numbers go down! Thanks again for all the support. This is a great forum!
  19. @@Arianna0228, I too gained 4 pounds since being home. My husband said it is from the IVs like you said. I looked this morning at the scale and I'm down 2 pounds from what I gained. Guess we just have to pee it out. I also feel hungry too. I think it is from the gas and that our stomachs are swollen...or at least I read that somewhere and a lot of people have a hunger feeling afterwards. Even a few other patients at the hospital I was staying at said they were hungry. I'm so sorry to those of you feeling nausea, pain, and any discomfort. The worst I have is the neck/shoulder pain but my pain meds are helping me with that. No nausea whatsoever. Reading everyone else's posts, I'm counting my blessings I am doing so well. I am going to say a prayer for everyone to heal quickly. Everyone keep us updated! It's all gonna be worth it, that I am sure of! ❤️
  20. @@TeeNahh, I'm so sorry you're having pain! I hope the nausea goes away for you so you can eat something. Just remember it's all gonna be worth it a year from now!
  21. @@SoCalSue, how come your surgery was 6 hours. You've got to be in a lot of pain! My surgery was only 57 minutes.
  22. Surgery went fantastic. Had it yesterday at 9:30 am and I did so well they sent me home!
  23. Honestly the only reason I want to go home is because I can't sleep here. I'm sharing a room with a woman who has an entourage with her. There are literally 7 people here right now. And two slept over last night. One of them offered me an ice cream sandwich...how nice of them!!
  24. Yay Deon!! Keep walking. It really helps. And the pain meds are awesome. I'm going home tonight. Just waiting for my dr to sign off on it.
