i know exactly how you felt i went throught the same thing. i was referred to my surgeon from my pcp so i went to my surgeon for my 6 month of weight checks. then when everything was submitted my insurance company said they needed weight checks from my pcp and then a letter of recommendation from my doctor and i was like but i did the weight checks at my surgeons office. i was irritated by then thinking all this work and then to do another 6 months with my pcp for weight checks. thank god they just accepted from the surgeons and i faxed them a letter of recommendation. i started my journey in january by the time the insurance co approved me and was able to get a surgery date it was december 12,2007 even though i shoulda had it sooner it was well worth the weight.

what it is is hes afraid that if you lose the weight hell lose that control over you when it comes to maybe other men being attracted to you. and hes afraid that if you do it youll leave him for someone better. my old man did the same thing. i still went thru with it though whether it made him happy or not cause i was doing it not for that reason but for my health. hes a man. what do you expect hell get over it once he sees the results of it later on down the road. and when he sees your happy and healthy . hell accept it more. but hell eventually accept it. just tell him accept what i am doing or dont but im still doing it. dont let him be in control of you!

How long have you had your band and are you still happy?
reif78 replied to Beka's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i have been banded for 10 days now and i love it i have noticed with my 29 pound loss i have more energy and i eat way less but it fills me up. there is always risks to any surgery you have. but if you dont take that chance youll never know if you will succeed. sometimes problems with some people that have band problems is maybe if there eating right or not following doctors orders. gl i hope your band does you well. -
BCBS 6 month required diet-need advice
reif78 replied to heather113076's topic in Insurance & Financing
i have himark bc/bs and there idea of a supervised diet is not to have to go somewhere like weight watchers. you do it on your own and then you have the 6 months worth of weight checks with your doctor. your doctor is the one supervising you. .. i honestly didnt adhere to the diet thing i was afraid that the insurance wouldnt approve me if i lost. but yet i never gain stayed at the same weight i think i might have lost a pound the whole six months. hope this helped. i also dont have a problem losing its keeping it off and usually when i lose i alway gain and then some.l hope this help -
congratulations youll love it.

What to expect after 2 Days Of Banding
reif78 replied to JDPurvis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hi my name is shelly. i had my banding done on 12/12/07. I had pain up until about my 5th day. then it pretty much subsided. except where i have my staples if i move a certain way it pulls and its annoying more than painful. and my belly itches from where the staples are thank god i get them out next week. but bear with it . it will stop i assure you. im 10 days post op i started my pureed/mushy stage today thank god it was getting old doing liquids. and make sure you start drinking your protien drinks. ive lost 29 pounds so far and i started low cardio aerobics on day 7 about 10 minutes to start i dont wanna just jump into a 30 minute work out. i figured next week i would start 20 minutes. but gl hope things go good for you. -
i dunno i started my pureed stage today. i just pureed my cottage cheese and added applesauce its goin down just fine so i dunno i guess ill learn everday.

yes in some cases you have to have bands removed but its not common. but things will go great for you. Remember theres a risk for any type of surgery just think positive and you will do great. i was banded 12/12/07 and i feel great. so chin up youll be fine. the results of getting the band outweigh the results of the risks that come with the band. gl i hope things go well for you!

hi it does get better around your 4 or 5th day post op youll feel better and then it will be the road to success. gl if you have questions dont hesitate there is lots of advice giving here

There will always be the what ifs in life but if we worried about the what ifs we would never do nothing to better ourselves. i dont think your marriage will go down the crapper.per sat. there might be objections on your husbands side. i know mine always expressed fear that if i get this done and lose the weight i will go for something better. and i always assured him im not doing this for that reason im doing it for my health and just because i lost the weight doesnt mean thats gonna change my feelings for you. thats what i always told him. as far as pain. you will have maybe 2 days of really irritating soreness. but it will subside. i went and finished my christmas shopping the day after i got home.lol. Things will work out just fine.

Got SSSOOO Many questions before calling a Doc!!!!!
reif78 replied to ThinDolphin3's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
never believe your insurance company cause the minute they say you dont need something they deny you cause you didnt do this. trust me i went a 8 months before i even got my approval cause they denied me cause i didnt do something. heres what i did. 1. consulted family physician . we listed all the diets and medications even over the counter diet aides i used. he then made a referral for me for the surgeon i wanted to use. and have him write a letter of recommendation for you so you can give it to your surgeon. so when they submit it to the insurance it is a better help to get approved. 2. go to the surgeon consult. youll go thier for 6 months of weigh ins. 3. youll have to see a dietitian,a nutritionist, youll be put on a 1200 cal diet to see and prove to the insurance co that dieting dont work. 4. youll have several blood work ups 5.you see a pulmonologist and take chest xrays and a breathing test. 6.psych consult. 7.2 day sleep apnea testing. 8. and whatever else your doctor will make you do everyone is different on what needs done before your info will be submitted to the insurance company. I was approved 8 months after i initially started everything to get approved. some insurance companies may have you go to a seminar about the lapband system. mine didnt. the way i worked i woulda never made it. but in the end its worth it i was banded 12/12/07 and i love it. you will too its only been 9 days and i feel better and im energetic. and ive lost 29 pounds and i breathe better. cause i have sleep apnea due to my weight. and can actually sleep at night now. and its only been 9 days. i know most of my weight off now is just Water weight. but weight is weight . hope things go well for you. -
the reason they say no bread is because even though you can chew it up and it might pass thru. bread expands in the stomach and sometimes if you dont chew it enough it could get stuck in your stoma. they say no doey breads. but toast and crackers might be ok i have read where some eat toast and crackers.

the difference between the doing it with out the lapband and with the lap band the way i see it, Is this. its not that your starving yourself with or with out the band. with out the band you might diet the way you do with the band but, you dont get the satiety or fullness like you do with the band . with the band although you eat less at a setting your still getting the nutrition you need with out starving but the satiety or fullness is thier alot quicker. In my case before i had the band i did the dieting but i never ever felt full so even thought i was eating 3 meals a day i was snacking in between to get the full ness. with the band and i know i just got it 9 days ago and im still on the 10-14 days liquid phase i feel the fullness and i know when to stop drinking my drinks i mean i drink water through out the day but my protien shakes. i know when i have to stop for awhile. and i cant even finish a whole popsicle. its hard to understand until you get the band your self. so if you do gl. things will change for you in a good way. and youll understand where i am coming from. i hoped i helped.

gl in your upcoming surgery. It is ok to be anxious , but dont worry everyone is different when it comes to pain and so forth. i was banded on the 12th of december. i had soreness more irritating than painful as far as the gas part from the anestetia. wasnt to bad except i had my left arm was very achy. drove me nuts. but it will be all worth it. and some people dont tell very many people about what thier doing when it comes to this kinda surgery. I on the other hand told everyone i was excited to do something to make myself in better health. but like i said everyone is different. gl with your surgery your gonna love it.

I'm a newbie and need some info...
reif78 replied to prival66's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
well you wont go alot with just liquids. its ok to feel that your not hungry just introduce your foods slowly if you able to get mash pototoes down with no problems you should be fine with other mushie foods. just make sure you are still drinkin your protien shakes until you feel your ready to eat foods. if you dont feel hungry later on down the road i would call your doctor. pb i think is puking it back up i am not sure im a little new here lol
