in my opinion there is a difference between spanking and child abuse. I am the parent i feel that my kids need spanked im gonna spank them. i was abused as a child so i know the difference between a swat and a leather belt being whipped across the back. id rather have the spankin. If that is the only way your child understands that they cant do something then so be it. Im just glad my children understand no I have only had to spank my 10 year old 3 times in her life and she is not have any mental issues over it. my 7 year old i only spanked 2 times . hes so sweet he gives you those eyes and you melt. my 5 year old never have i had to spank and my 3 year old i have never spanked so i think im doing pretty good if ya ask me. they listen very well.except my three year old but what do you expect she is in that stage of testing your limit. but all and all shes a great child

How long were you off from work?
reif78 replied to jaycee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it depends on what kind of job you have if you have a light job like a desk job you can go back to work between 1 -2 weeks unlike me who has a heavy lifting and strenuois job i was given off six weeks. -
hello and welcome to the site im sure as you read around your questions will be answered. i had my band 1 month ago and i will never regret it. one thing to understand as you will read some say it was the wrong thing for them and dont do it and so forth. This is not a quick fix this surgery should be geared on the fact that you have tried everything else possible and affordable to do it on your own. And that with this alike any other surgery there are risks but i will tell you this there is less risks to this surgery compared to the bypass. this surgery is less invasive and has a faster recovery time. be prepared to have a 2 week preop diet of nothing but liquids and post op 6 week diet which we call bandster hell. 2 weeks liquids 2 weeks pureed 2 weeks soft and then onto solids but remember all doctors are different they may have a different post op diet for you. and remember that during your 6 weeks healing phase post op weight loss is a bonus so dont worry if you lose weight or not. you may have some saline in the band that the doc might put in during surgery but you fills usually dont come until 6 weeks after surgery. At that time youll feel more resticted And you doctor will explain it to you. with the band your weight loss is slower than the bypass this is a good thing because if you lose the weight faster youll probably have more excess skin compared to the bypass you may lose weight faster but youll have alot more excess skin. If you decide to get the surgery remember when eating eat protiens first you will get full faster and stay full longer. then eat the veggies and so forth till you feel your full or just not hungry any more. the lapband basically retrains you to eat and teaches you portion control. you will love it im sure of it. remember if you havent before start reading labels when buying groceries. low fat low cal low sugar high protien. good luck i hope this gave you some light. Every ones opinion is different everyon may not see it or agree with the things i say. but its working for me ive lost 32 pounds this month so im doing something right.lol. good luck hope to see you become a bandster

After the 1st fill why do I think I'm eating to much?
reif78 replied to Debbie P's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you more and likely need another fill. usually with your first fill you get restriction more in the morning and afternoon and less at night. youll probably go thru a couple fills before you get the perfect restriction. and remember just cause you can eat something right now doesnt mean you should. cause that wont help if ya do .lol -
hello i hope things work out and you cross over to bandland and yes your new life shall begin. i know mine has i feel absolutely wonderful since being banded. youll love it. good luck

Gallstones and the Lap Band Surgery-Help
reif78 replied to glynda's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i would imagine if you get your gallbladder out in the next few days or so you should still be ok to get your surgery on your date you have scheduled. or maybe see if they can do both at the same time -
Husband says I am addictedt to lapbandtalk!
reif78 replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
me addicted i have never in all my life been insulted. lmao if ya believe that one ill tell you another. of course im addicted but as soon as i go back to work im gonna need something for with draw lol -
i agree with roberta and the others too . This just looks like a case of im not eating the way i should exercising and so forth and im not losing cause i dont put forth the effort and so lets blame it on something so let it be the thyroid. My friend has problems with her thyroid and she gets extensive blood work done every year so they know if her meds are right or need adjusted and they have all recommended the lapband over the bypass. so i think you little post is just a big pile of bs!

i know this past sunday i went to a get together with friends and they had sooooooo much food i just took a tables spoon of each of what they had and it filled me up so just when you go just think protien first veggies second carbs last , i know i had a lil bit of ham steamed veggies they had a chicken dip i had a little of that and they had taco dip and i had little of that and i was full i dont even think it amounted to a cup of what i had but it was good. i think they called me the test taster of the night. but it worked. it wsa all good and i didnt go hay wire of gimmie more more more lol. its just a trial of thinking about what your gonna eat and not knowing if its ok. just remember portion your meals as directed by your doctor.

i agree just look at the menus and there is some thing on there that should be light enough for you to eat. ask about thier soups. i know i went to chilis and i had a cup of chicken tortilla soup i couldnt even eat the whole cup.lol or on days like that order a chicken breast with a side of steamed veggies and eat what you can and take the rest home. i always plan my daily meals if i go out cause i watch to not go over 900-1000 calories a day. and i try not to go over 30 g a fat a day. plus you can always look on line at menus like mentioned above. im sure some of the stuff you find on those menus the restaurant your goin to might have something similar to that on there.

insurance is very confusing. just do what it says to pay if it says 250 then thats all you have to pay. right onnnnnnnn thats not bad. but if you want to make sure then just ask the people who deal with insurance at the doctors office they will tell you how much your responsible for.

i still eat a little to fast
reif78 replied to andielmt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
have any of you had a fill yet? cause with fills yes you feel more restricted in the morning and afternoon but when it comes to night time you do have less restriction so maybe after another fill you have more restriction and feel full quicker. try taking a bite set the spoon or fork down chew chew chew chew swallow then pick up the spoon or fork again. this might help slow you down and get you full faster. -
im not sure maybe its not that anyone sold your information sometimes when companies go to drs offices they leave pamphlets for bypass and banding patients and then the doctors office just sends them out to there bypass and banding patients to give you the information that you can look at i know i get infomation on stuff like that all the time and its either because of a medication im on and there is a better medication than the one im taking thats new that maybe i would like to try i dont think it has to do with anything that the drs office sold your info and if they did its not legal so talk to your doctor about it.

i have had my band only a month and i lost 32 pounds already. and i love it i dont regret it one bit. If you think about it all surgeries have risks. but this surgery compared to bypass is a breeze its less invasive. less to no death risks. yes there have been complications associated with this surgery but you have them with every surgery. and its reversible if there are complications compared to the by pass. you can do it and it will be well worth it. road to health is on its way for you. jump on up the band wagon express is here!!!

my psych evaluation was the same way. i just went in real perky and in a good mood and answered there questions. they tried to get things outta me about my family history. yeah right i dont kiss and tell. just tell them things that you understand this surgery isnt a quick fix but your doing for your health. that you have a great family life and so on and so on. tell them what you have to cause if they dont approve your eval you can possibly not get your surgery

Biggest Fear? Death & Other Questions
reif78 replied to Tiffyrae's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i was in the same boat as you with all the same concerns as well. the thing with lap banding is that it has low death risks im not sure of the numbers. It is reversible if wanted or needed. compared to gastric bypass very hard to reverse. and the weight loss is almost the same as gastric bypass but it tends to be slower so your skin has time to reform to the body as with the bypass you lose weight faster and your skin dont have time to reform to your new body. surgery is done within 2 hours. i know i went in at 930 am and was out at 1130 am. pain is not as bad as the bypass my friend had the bypass and the pain she said sucked big time. when i had my band put in this past december when i left the hospital the next day i went shopping lol. I have lost 32 pounds already and i love it. i dont regret nothing. i would do it all over again if need be. youll love it. good luck in your journey!!
