    Treadmill VS Elliptical

If you're out of shape, the elliptical might be too hard for you. I bought a very expensive elliptical but don't get much use out of it since I can't go for 15 minutes without my heart pounding out of my chest, while I can easily use the treadmill for an hour or more without going into cardiac arrest.
  3. If I could, I would. My entire eating problem happens after the sun goes down. If I could match your goal, I wouldn't need surgery. :rolleyes2:

    Bandster Hell?? Why???

What's that thing they say? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure? Remember, the hare got there before the rabbit... it will happen. Chill.

    Sex!!!

    Great, now I'm horny.
  6. And... I had such horrible disgustingness exiting my backside with rumbling in my belly that I thought I contracted a foreign disease & went to urgent care. The doctor didn't even need a stethescope because she heard the rumbling bouncing off the exam room walls. She ran every test for all sorts of stuff, which all came back negative. It was really gross and uncomfortable, but it will get better!!!
  7. All sorts of things are to blame, from extreme caloric intake to the anesthesia, surgical stress, your body is detoxing from all that fat & sugar, etc. I was horrible for 2 days after, then had 1 good day when I was so excited to be feeling better, then whammo, the 4th day was the worse. The good news is that after a couple days I improved in leaps & bounds. Hang in there!
  8. It's pretty normal to feel okay right after the surgery, but then to feel horrible several days later. I had the same problem & met a lot of others like you. Hang in there.

'08 - Who do you want?

"where IS the evidence 'a woman's touch' WOULD be better?" There is no evidence that a woman's touch would be better. But there's nothing but evidence that men have run us into the ground. A few decades of personal relationships, relatives, friends, co-workers and neighbors is enough proof to me that women, on the most part, take care of about 80% of the household. Don't get me wrong, I know some awesome men that do much more than their wives, but they are far and few between. I can safely say about 80% of men I know are laying on the couch watching TV while Wifey's doing laundry, feeding kids, paying bills, yapping with girlfriends on the phone, painting her toenails, planning menus, clipping coupons and unclogging the bathroom sink all at once.

'08 - Who do you want?

I was voting for someone else last week, but I had a dream about hunters vs. gatherers and woke up thinking of basic psychology and biology. Men are inherently physically stronger, but women are the organized multitaskers that are called on to clean up big messes. Women have been cleaning up after men since the beginning of time and doing a damn good job of running households, schools and cities. This place is a mess and needs a woman's touch. How many people that are voting for Obama have read any (one?) of his books? He's a nice, honest guy, but he needs backbone and is more of a follower than a leader.

I don't do anything on a Double Dog Dare, it's gotta be a Triple. I say mornings are best, otherwise you have a whole day to make excuses.

    Band Removed Due To Erosion

Lynn, posting on the Internet that you personally know what most surgeons believe is dishonest and arrogant. Do you actually know most surgeons? As far as rumors, asking Ortiz, who I personally know, to drop me a line, isn't spreading a rumor but helping him prevent more damage to his reputation; he's a nice guy that should be given the chance to defend his name. As for me trying to scare people by posting accurate information, you better grab hold of reality because a very large and growing number of port infections continue to lead to erosion, and erosion undetected, among other complications, can lead to serious problems and potentially death. Your own surgeon can tell you how bad things went for a very popular Mexican patient coordinator who went too long before getting an endoscopy and was brought back to life more than once during the removal process only to be left struggling for a normal life. If this scares you or anyone else, then elective surgery of any type isn't for you. Complications happen, which is why there's an entire section at LBT for sharing informative stories like this one. Go play detective with your friends and you'll find plenty of bandsters at LBT whose port complicatons lead to erosion. Or just stay in the dark with your eyes closed.

    Is Lapband Removal Dangerous?

Even though I had a pretty bad case of erosion, the surgeons said it wasn't an emergency to remove it right away. They explained the process of erosion is so slow that it doesn't actually cut into your belly, rather your belly sort of grows around the band. Tissue grows around it the band like ivy on a vine or moss on a rock; well, not really but hard to put in words. For someone to say they can't remove it sounds really wrong. They did have to make a lot of repairs to my stomach as they removed the band, and it the surgery wasn't any fun, but you need a 2nd opionion for certain. The worst part of removal was being wheeled through the hospital heaving and shivering to do the post-op barium swallow, but I'm glad it's out. I haven't gained everything back because I still [seem to] have a pouch and restriction from the scar tissue that at least offers a little assistance, and I can't eat volume like preband.

Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?

I've been ignoring this thread, too scared to see what the hell you people were up to! But today, instead of waking up hung over, I took the dogs to the lake & hiked an hour. We probably climbed 3 mountains! My buddy challenged me to do some marithon in March, which I thought was a joke. But she had the nerve to say she'll see me in the gym at 5:30 a.m. tomorrow. Me growing wings and flying to Mars sounds more reasonable than doing a marithon of any kind! What's this Couch to 5K thing? I don't even know what a K is (some metric measurement or a new cereal?) You people scare me... Dare me to join, I dare you.

    Band Removed Due To Erosion

http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f17/hospitalized-2-wks-post-op-dr-said-future-erosion-likely-48045/ Here's a post indicating a doctor said "future erosion likely" based on surgical complications. Sounds like her surgeon is keeping up with things.
