When did you Return to work
Bonefixer replied to juno5's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Also an RN, but in orthopedic surgery. I am taking 28 days, but, hopefully, will work on my policy/procedure manual updates when I go back. Guess that will depend on how crazy it is between now and then. Have to admit I am kinda worried about scrubbing a hip replacement. -
Haven't told anyone...
Bonefixer replied to ANewBeginning15's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Being private is not bad. Not everything in life is a Facebook status. I finally told my coworker/?friend two days before I went out for surgery. The skinny, blonde (yes, I may be jealous) immediately said "you don't need that, you just need to eat less". Who needs that wisdom; I think we've all tried that! Find the people who support you unconditionally and share what you're comfortable with. FWIW: I was sleeved on June 1. It has been great! Good luck in your journey! -
Cardiologist issues ????
Bonefixer replied to cara264's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Same issue here. I went for my EKG, which came back abnormal, but I had been fasting for lab. I thought I had just gotten my electrolytes off a bit. Went to see the cardiologist, still abnormal. He sent me straight over for echo and stress test. At this point, I had a panic attack and completely wigged out. Echo and stress test were normal. Cardiologist's words: I guess you're normally abnormal. Me: Um, thanks? -
Any MedSurg Nurses who've been sleeved?

Wow! Hadn't thought about CPR being strenuous exercise until now. Glad y'all mentioned that one. My biggest worry, so far, has been the long days and short breaks. Has anyone found a lunchbox or Bento box that you will use when you return to work? Worried about portioning and overly large containers. I don't want to look like a construction worker carrying a huge lunchbox for a minuscule amount of food and beverage. Also, any advice on a high protein snack that I can keep in my scrubs pocket for moments when you just can't get away? -
Anyone using Dr. Erin Cummins in Jackson?

Impatiently waiting...June sleevers?
Bonefixer replied to Seahawkgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unjury makes an unflavored protein that can be added to your liquids. It is available online or, maybe, through your bariatric center. Check out bariatric surgery on Pinterest for lots of ideas and recipes for the first couple of weeks. I even found a recipe for pimento cheese + protein that I'm looking forward to trying. -

I'm scheduled for June 1. Now that the date is close, I'm kinda terrified! Anyone else riding that roller coaster? -

Fireflea, I would love to hear how you do going back to the OR. My DOS is June 1, and going back to long cases is my biggest fear. ,
