Apologies. Not returning. Mea Culpa. Breast beaten.
Nikasio replied to KateP's topic in Rants & Raves
Good, good, the sympathy ploy. @@Daveo you have now invited men to go post in the ladies forums instead of just trolling them. I see a good topic in the forum about bra sizes heading over there to post now. -
Just for Men: How long did it tak you to get your brain and stomach back in syncronization?
Nikasio replied to Nikasio's topic in The Guys’ Room
Complete opposite of how I feel. Fear of hurting myself is what is keeping me in check right now. If it weren't for the pouch, I would be finish off 14 oz shakes instead of the scheduled 8 oz / 250 calories. -
As someone who often berated themselves for simple food mistakes I am hoping this WLS will make up for all the times I thought energy bars were healthy. Replacement, made a little mixed nut Peanut Butter sans salt for myself. The more I bother to put on my glasses, the more I find those hidden ingredients: molasses, cottonseed oil, etc. Being that I am only four weeks out of VSG, my Vitamixer has found new life. Otherwise, I would just weigh 4 to 6 oz of unsalted mixed nuts and slowly chew and savor them one at a time.

Why say goodbye to pizza and coke? Gee, hidden simple sugars, processed wheat, bad fats and caffeine. Things that will help you get off the wagon. Its like sneaking cigarettes, if one don't hurt you, two won't, then it is three, four,...etc. it was more a joke about food funerals than a serious rejection of the occasional slice.

For the Guys' Room: Useful gifts for fellow obese people.
Nikasio replied to Nikasio's topic in The Guys’ Room
What can I say, it was either this or continue to wonder why the grabber I use to get Soup and bean cans was sometimes wet. I hurt my back once and would have appreciated the comfort wipe, toilet buddy, or the freedom wand. Things are okay until you can't wipe your ass. -
male only For the Guys' Room: Useful gifts for fellow obese people.
Nikasio posted a topic in The Guys’ Room
Anyone else find that the comfort wipe wand was the wrong gift to give their girlfriend / spouse? She complained about not being able to reach so I bought one for her and one for when she comes over to my place. Just like a guy, I see a problem and try to solve it. ttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crfGXmxJ1vM More recently she bought herself the more expensive Freedom Wand because it can be taken apart and fits in her purse. Sorry. since I am on vacation and surfing the web, I am doing a lot of posting. -
food funerals. I would prefer a good old Irish wake instead. Things get said, alcohol is consumed and deceased is bad mouthed as much as they are praised. So here is a toast to my old friend pizza. You were delicious and had so many of the bad ingredients. Sugary sauces, processed wheat, salty pepperoni, and questionable mafia cheese. You will be missed you old sod.

Merell mocs are great for just slipping on and walking. I've bought these, but they were not as orthopedic insert friendly as I hoped.

If that is the sole secret, then I am a WLS Prepper. I purchased buckets of Protein powder that I like and a freezer full of fish, pork, and chicken. Decided not to buy steak since some people complained about having problems with steak. But from recent posts, that varies from person to person. -
For the Guys' Room: Useful gifts for fellow obese people.

Listening to her struggle in the bathroom was starting to worry me. Even more, I thought she would probably hurt herself when she got surgery. She had some secret technique that could not be discussed. These are great products for anyone who has mobility issues broken arm or wearing a cast. The Freedom Wand can even hold a razor for shaving or a bath sponge. -
Funny story part 2 my cat
Nikasio replied to AussieSam's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Wow. What kind of cat is it? A friend of mine has a big Siberian that doesn't seem to know when to stop eating. She and her husband struggle to keep the cat on a calorie restricted diet. Kind of an Atkins diet for diabetic cats. So much for filling up the bowl and taking a weekend trip...cat will somehow manage to down the bowl in one long binge. Kind of like me and fresh baked Cookies. -

Perhaps the men would post more if they didn't get assaulted for grammar and spelling. Guys seem to prefer posting privately rather than suffer wrath. Informal writing as with texting, has become so common in business emails, I've had had to bookmark netlingo for translations. From locked rants, it seems that people like bullying foreigners as well. I've done customer support for decades and have found that people don't even make an attempt at listening to someone with an accent let alone their written attempts at communicating. Just an observation and not an invitation for restarting the frequent rant about grammar and spelling. -
Gee, that long before being able to handle meat is a downer. On the other hand, there are so many other sources of healthy Protein. Four weeks out and just starting to get use to Lactaid brand cottage cheese. When it comes time to move to pureed foods, I'll probably be supplementing protein levels with flavorless Isopure low carb. Having worked with vegetarians of different types and vegans, protein intake can depend on calorie intake. That can be a struggle for someone on a calorie restricted diet. It would seem that a lacto-ovo vegetarian would have it easier since they can consume eggs and whey protein. Vegan dependence on tofu, soy products, and Beans can be a challenge, but it can be done and there are plenty of vegan products out there: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/10-best-tasting-vegan-protein-powders.html The link is not an endorsement of any particular website.

My wife can't keep her hands off me .... and I like it!

Congrats! Good to hear she is initiating more often. That definitely sounds better than having to come up with new romantic hints. -
Guys, what do you consider your ideal pants size ?
Nikasio replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
By the time I got up to size 42, I learned to wear loose fitting jeans. It helped me avoid accidentally tearing and showing off my Joe Boxers. Kind of reminds me of the 1981 movie So Fine, in which Ryan O'Neil tears a pair of woman's pants and starts a bottomless pants craze. I too am looking forward to shopping for new clothes. If things progress properly, I'll run out of the mothballed clothes I kept for years in bins over the next six months. -

The Dunhams look nice, whereas the Orthofeet shoes seem functional. The Orthofeet shoes remind me of the diabetic shoes I use to buy my mom. She loved the velcro and that the insoles didn't cut into her feet. Whereas my dad loved my used New Balance sneakers. He insisted that since we had the same shoe size and width that I give him my used sneakers. I broke them in nicely for him. His favorites were the NB 1400 and 1500. I'd buy them, scuff them up a bit and give them to him as if they were old. It gave him the opportunity to whine about how when he grew up in the depression he would wear out shoes until they had holes in them and then some more. He would then wear them with his dress suits and fedora hat like some modern day hipster.

Compression shorts under or on top. I would say under. Unless you fell like a peacock and want to attract some ladies, under your sweatpants will probably make your spouse less paranoid. Especially if you are making better progress than her. As for cosmetic surgery, male breast reduction for gynecomastia or plastic surgery to remove excess skin can cause nerve damage to the nipples. So unless your moobs / flapjacks are really giving you a problem, you have to weigh the risks against the benefits.

For months a friend of mine has been trying to convince her husband to get sleeved. Two weeks after I got sleeved she was pushing him even more. Somehow one of her friends got it in her head that he might leave her or start cheating if he loses weight. Now that I am four weeks into this, he is all for it and she is not. My girlfriend has now gotten so paranoid I have to let her check my phone...which is full of mostly her messages. When she comes over she checks my apartment for the presence of other women. I am so tempted to buy a sexy teddy just to plant it in my apartment, but the thought of being overpowered and killed by someone a hundred pounds heavier than me stops me.

As Alan King once joked, for the eighteen years he lived with his parents, he thought his dad was a mute. As for definitions of various mud flaps, try urban dictionary. The expression gets worse as it seems to have been broken down by nationality and ethnicity. The first time I heard it it was two women describing another woman's looks. Don't remember seeing this expression in my Sisters' copies of 'Our Bodies, Our Selves.' -
Stupid question about buying men's clothing in regular stores (not big and tall)
Nikasio replied to VDB's topic in The Guys’ Room
Good good. Out of stock in the regular sizes. Somehow that makes up for all the times I could only find one XXXL shirt and it was some weird camouflage pattern that made me look like a large bush. -
Just for Men: How long did it tak you to get your brain and stomach back in syncronization?
Nikasio replied to Nikasio's topic in The Guys’ Room
Wow, didn't know they had a card for post weight loss surgery. I've heard the expression that Americans eat with their eyes. Considering how big Europeans are also getting, I can proudly say thank you McDonald's for being such a big success in France. Back to the topic at hand, I hope that this brain stomach disconnect is just a temporary thing. It seems that gaining back some weight can happen quite easily if you still feel hungry despite feeling full. -
Was supposed to go for three months. By my third visit I was the only guy there. It was the opposite of a sausage fest. The only time I spoke I was jumped for making one bad joke about wanting the 85% of my stomach to make Haggis. Besides it having been an out-of-date reference to the 1986 Christopher Lambert / Sean Connery movie Highlander, it was somehow taken as an offensive remark about women eating their placenta. I had to research that leap of logic to even find out that some women do actually freeze and eat their placenta. On the positive side, I did learn that vertical stripes make you look slimmer and when it is the best time to by off-season clothes at Lane Bryant...which come to think about it I seem to have forgotten though I am still a human clothes rack when shopping with ladies.

The new Apple watch has some of the same features as the FITBIT. As per Jimmy Fallon it is based on arm motion. Just go to the last third of the bit on youtube for a good laugh about teenage boys. Honey, Harold walked a thousand miles yesterday. We are going to have to buy him new shoes. So if you are cycling, you may need to use the GPS on your smartphone or Garmin instead.
