What are you looking forward to after WLS and the weight comes off?
KindaFamiliar replied to missvee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sky diving Not paying $50 for a plain black polo just because I shop at the Fat Man's Shop Travel - Up until recently, I've never had the urge. For some reason now tho, the thought appeals... Being stared at because I'm so f***ing awesome, not because I'm so f***ing fat!!! I'm gonna have a crack at a Segway.. I'm also gonna dress like a f***ing dandy!!! I'm just gonna buy clothes that I think are GOLD!! Jeans - Ok, I've got a pair and I'm ready to slip them on. I've just gotta find a reason to go out... I'll add more as I think of them... There are some more 'personal' ones that I may add later as well... See ya!! -
Weight loss can be (IS) a cruel b*tch... You'll lose all your weight in the exact opposite order to what you want to... I wanted to lose off my fat gut... So of course, I lost what little arse I had... Then, I wanted to lose of my fat gut... And I now have dreeeeaaaamy forearms and have actually lost approx. two inches from around EACH WRIST!!!... After that , I REALLY wanted to lose off my fat gut... As can be seen in the only photo in my 'gallery', I've lost plenty of my face... Now that I'm more than ready to lose weight off my fat gut, I can see ever increasing definition of my quads and calves.. I've lost 230+ pounds and am still wearing a lot of the same clothes... Admittedly, they kinda look funny... But I'm still the same shape as I was... I'm just a little smaller.. Stick with it @@Muggles Your arse will shrink soon... I promise...

Good luck and congratulations to allllllll of you... Looking forward to seeing your results over the next few months... -
Easy... Easter's over now... Get rid of the chocolate and stuff... You're in a stall... It won't be helped by the crappy food, but that may not be completely to blame... Use this weekend to get yourself refocused... Get your menu for next sorted out... Do the shopping... Then, beginning Monday, just start smashing it out like you have been up until 2 weeks ago... We all (at least the honest ones) will admit to slumps... Weeks (or longer) where we lose our s**t and can't seem to get ahead... But the only person who can kick this is ourselves... You can do this... You know you can... So get to it... We'll be awaiting you results...

Australia - Melbourne
KindaFamiliar replied to steveelea's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@kiwijet Happy to share... I'm near Canberra, just across the border in NSW.. Sleeved in Feb 2015 at 255kg... At this stage I'm down 106kg... I'm very happy with my progress and am looking forward to getting to a 'sky diving' weight by the end of this year... I'm always happy to answer any questions anyone might have... I'm in no way claiming to be an expert, but I'm certainly aware of some of the ongoing issues - both good and bad... Again I wish the very best to each of you... It's a great thing you've chosen to do... -

You've just gotta stop comparing yourself to others... It's good practice for post-surgery.... Because if you don't, that s**t will do your head in. You said a couple of times that this is all about "progress over the 12 weeks"... Focus on that... Compare week 1 you to week 12 you... That's the important bit... Comparing ourselves to others only sets us up for heartache and misery... As an example, I'm going along well on my de-fatting mission... I'm happy with my progress.. I've lost plenty of weight... I'm the lightest I've been in 20 years... I exercise most days... All that is great... But what I focus on is - I'm 13 months post-op, 230+ pounds down, stronger and fitter than I've ever been and I STILL CAN'T DO A F**KING PUSH UP!!! Not one... Everyone else at my gym can... Everyone... But not me... What's my point? Forget what everyone else can do... This isn't about them... This is about YOU... Do what you can... Then come back and compare in 12 weeks... I bet you're killing it by then... You've just gotta stop comparing yourself to others... It's good practice for post-surgery.... Because if you don't, that s**t will do your head in. Affirmations
KindaFamiliar replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When I'm feeling low or flat and in need of a pick-me-up, I actually think about something my then 3 year old nephew said to me one day... He walked up to me, put his little hands on my cheeks and held my face to make sure he had my full attention... He looked right, deep into my eyes and said "Unky Jase..." He calls me Unky Jase... "Unky Jase... Sometimes your bum is your arse..." I think there's something in that for all of us... -
Working out/More hunger
KindaFamiliar replied to NatashaSaysRawr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@NatashaSaysRawr At just on six weeks oput, you should still be well and truly under the guidance of your surgeon and/or your nutritionist... You'd be MUCH better served by getting in touch with them and asking their thoughts... Please remember this - very few people in here are qualified in this field.. Yes, the knowledge contained by the collective in here is vast and so very useful... However, nobody here knows YOUR situation like YOUR team... Generally speaking, the information and advice you can get from here is anecdotal and specific to each individual poster... Please, before you make ANY changes to your diet (especially at six weeks or so out), consult with your respective professionals... And if you've no such support, please seek out the name of someone in your area and speak to them... Please... -

Working out/More hunger
KindaFamiliar replied to NatashaSaysRawr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Nope... It's good... If you're doing more exercise, you're burning more calories... If you're burning more calories, you need to eat more... You've just gotta make sure that what you're eating is a) not s**t, and not calorically more than you're burning... When you get to this point, it's no longer JUST about calories in vs calories out.. This is where the macros come into it... It may we worth talking to a professional and getting some information that is specific to your needs... The last thing you want when you're doing extra exercise is for your body to go into 'starvation mode'... That s**t sux balls!!! Good luck... Let us know how you get on... -
You know you lost weight when
KindaFamiliar replied to Thomas CPA's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
.... when people ask for your advice... Whether it be here, or in 'real life' (not that you all aren't real), I'm always amazed by people fronting up to me and just asking me for my advice/opinion... I think it's because, despite my progress, I'm still a fat dude. Obviously, not as fat as I was so it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to see that something's going on... But it's not 'til I'm sought out that I realise how far I've actually come... So that's kinda cool... Oh yeah... There's the chicks digging me thing... It's another way I know I've lost weight... And it's also kinda cool... -
Healthy Snack Ideas?!
KindaFamiliar replied to cal2okl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if you folk from the US get these but they're GREAT for a snack... They're called Brown Rice chips and are the Wild Rice variety... They're made by Sun Rice... Gluten free... No artificial colours, flavours or preservatives... They're made with the whole grain and are, according to the package, a product of the US.. These are my absolute favourite go to snack... If I weren't so 'special' I'd post a pic of the packet that they come in... But I'm special.. You know that... -

There are so many reasons to stay away from these drinks... Chemicals... Sugars... Carbonation... All kinds of crap... Sure, they provide 'energy'... But so does brown rice... Or sweet potato... What about some fruit... I suspect you probably know all this... So what do YOU think is the best choice for YOU? Ultimately, it matters not what anyone here says,,, You'll do what you want to do... I hope you make the best decision for you and your sleeve...
