KindaFamiliar replied to Nurse_Lenora's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I've shrunk... I used to be 5ft 11 1/2 inches... I've lost an inch... Better an inch off there than... Well... It's just better to come off my height... -
Post op misery
KindaFamiliar replied to beggingtobehealthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like you may have a bubble of gas in your chest... It'll work itself out... But it might be painful/irritating for a while... The waiting sux... But let's face it... You've got a lot more 'life' in front of you now than you did three days ago... Don't rush things... You'll get there... Take care... -
@@cowboys4life Well done mate... It's a tough old road but the rewards are so very worth it... Keep it up!!!

Anything I should know?
KindaFamiliar replied to Janiegirl1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Janiegirl1 I was in no pain... None.. The nurse had to remind me to press my pain button... Apparently that was a pre-emptive measure... I was on liquids only for 4 weeks before the op... I was on liquids for a few days after, then went thru the progression from liquids thru to solids... There are SO MANY things you could want to know before you go in... But the important things (in my opinion) are - Follow the advice/orders of your medical team... Protein, Water, protein, water... Walk as much as you can and as soon after the op as you're able... Many others will also give you advice... The reality is, it's ALL GOOD because it's what has worked for them... Take in what you need.. But don't ignore what you feel you don't need... It may come in handy at a later date... Good luck to you... And make sure you come in here if you've any more questions!!! -

The Great Arse Face Experiment (Or - Does Haemorrhoid Cream really help with your turkey neck?)
KindaFamiliar replied to KindaFamiliar's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@@Nurse_Lenora Firstly, apologies for the profile stalking... I clicked on your name rather than the 'mention'... Anyway... Yeah, I don't do the selfie thing... It's kinda funny.. As a fat dude, I was never worried about how I looked... But now that I'm 'less fat', I'm starting to get a little vain... I mean, I know I'm no oil painting, but I still find myself stretching my neck forward or turning myself upside down if I've gotta take/send a pic... I'm really not a fan... But sometimes you've just gotta do stuff... Hopefully it works and a few of us can take advantage of it... -

@@4MRB4PHOTO Thanx mate... Much appreciated... And as far as the drinking until sh*t-faced - If that's what it takes then I guess it's a sacrifice I'll have to make... Lucky it's the weekend!!!! -

@@VSGAnn2014 Just a smarty-mouth? I'm offended... I'll have you know that I'm quite an accomplished smarty-mouth... And yes, I guess I could be considered a "successful WLS patient"... Well, hopefully by Christmas anyway... As far as the experiment goes, I'm happy to take on the responsibility... You see, I'm a man of the people... I'm a giver... I feel it's my duty to make... Oh what bollocks!! I wanna look good and get the ladies... And if it takes rubbing my face with arse cream then by God I'm gonna do it!! Maybe I should do the whole face too... Hmmmmmmmmm... I'll give ya the tip - if it works, I'll be buying shares in one of the companies and bathing in the sh*t!!! Yeah, I'm not worrying about the stall... I'm thinking about doing a 5 day Optifast Torture Test to see if I can reboot... We'll see... I've lost about 106kg to date... I'm really happy with it... Certainly not complaining... Still got about 40kg to go and I hope to have that sorted by Christmas-ish... -

I was surprised too @ And it's entirely possible that my PT mate is dicking with me... But I went and bought a tube and am willing to put my neck on the line for the sake of beauty and science... And thanx for the kind words re the progress pics... Still in the process and in a MASSIVE stall but I'll get there... -
I knew it... People suck...

My sleeve was my first such medical procedure... Even playing football and 'bouncing/cooling' in pubs, I'd never been unconscious before... To say I was scared would be quite the understatement... As it turned out, it was all unfounded... And I'm sure that by this time tomorrow, you'll be saying the same thing... Good luck to you @@Kooky1 Keep us updated!!!

G'day @@njmatt88 I'm not sure that can be adequately answered... Everyone will eat different things and have different tastes etc... If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say that on average, I'd spend $AU120 a week on food, supps etc... This doesn't include incidentals like my daily coffee or my OCCASIONAL 3 pack of KFC Wicked Wings... But ultimately, that won't mean anything to you... You'll not eat the same food as me... You'll not require the same supps as me... Maybe you'd be better off doing some research at your local supermarket... Do up a menu and go to their website and 'shop' for your weekly ingredients.. That way you'll at least get an idea... Good luck to you...
