Why I'm here
KindaFamiliar replied to highfunctioningfatman's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
@ Good luck to you and yours mate... If you've ever any questions, don't hesitate to ask... Like @@Inner Surfer Girl above me, the pre-surgery anxiety was the worst part of the whole experience... I was convinced I was gonna die on the table... As you can see, I didn't.. And I'm pretty happy about that!! Mate, keep us posted with your progress... You've so much good ahead of you... Enjoy!! -
Before, During, and After Pics - One Year Out!

Good job... -
Is it actually "pain" or is it just a weird feeling? Post-op, I had this weird, 'hollow' feeling that could have been hunger but wasn't... I had it constantly, whether I'd eaten or not... It wasn't pain... Wasn't even discomfort.. But it was definitely something...

It's hot and I'm nauseous and just can't eat!

Chew some ice... It hydrates, cools, and the chewing makes your body think that it's eaten real food... -
Is this actually possible? (muscle gain vs. stall?)
KindaFamiliar replied to silverthreads's topic in The Guys’ Room
@@silverthreads In short, no, it's not possible... Now, I'm no expert, I can assure you.. But all of the research I've done says that it's "impossible" to gain more than a pound pf muscle per week... And this would require some regular, specific weights workouts (as opposed to cardio) as well as some pretty strict dietary details... Again, in my completely amateur opinion, what you're experiencing is simply your body d*cking you about... It'll take some time (and possibly quite some time) for your body to settle into a rhythm.. It's done so to some degree, which has resulted in your 'stall'... But you're body is a fickle beast.. It'll screw you over as often as it can... I know - I've been in a stall for about 4 months now... Not losing... Not gaining... Just stalling... Ultimately, there's nothing you can do... Just ride it out... It'll end.. Anyway, back to the muscle... There are any number of websites that can help with this question... All of the answers vary slightly, but they all point to one thing... You've not gained 10 pounds of muscle in the six weeks since your surgery.. Sorry mate.. So for now, keep up your Protein and your Water... Stick STRICTLY to your guidelines... And as soon as you're cleared to do so, start smashing sh*t up in the gym... You'll see losses (fat) and gains (muscle) at the same time... It's difficult - but it's possible!! Good luck to you... -

Looking for friends on MyFitnessPal
KindaFamiliar replied to Jobey's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Hi all... I'm 15 months out, 230+ pounds down and in a MASSIVE stall. I'm looking to track my intake/exercise on the MFP app. I'm doing it for the accuracy and the accountability. The more people who can see what I'm doing, the more likely I am to give it a red hot go... Anyway, if any of you would like to add me, please do so... User name is Kinda_Familiar Thanx... -
I'm just going to leave this right here.
KindaFamiliar replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
The following is a made up of a few things... Truths... Half truths... Bullsh*t...... Movie quotes/song lyrics.. (No, I'll not be telling you which are which..) Now, this may seem odd to you... But it's probably the most accurate reflection of myself that I'll ever post in a public forum... Ever!! - My real name is NOT KindaFamiliar - I was raised in the Jehovah's Witness religion but was kicked out at age 17. This resulted in me not speaking to any of my family for a number of years. That now means that I have little to no relationship with either my parents or siblings. In fact, late last year, after much mental debate, I changed my name. My middle name was my "father's" first name. It is not so any longer. - Chicks dig me - because I rarely wear underwear, and when I do, it's usually something unusual. - I successfully auditioned (3 callbacks) for a television show that never came to being. It was a panel/chat show and they wanted people who were "opinionated and outspoken". Weird, huh? - I believe in the soul, the c*ck, the p*ssy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days... - I love to sing. I even enjoy karaoke. I've won many competitions. The smallest prize was a $50 bar tab. The largest was $2500 cash. I've been fortunate enough to sing on stage with Jimmy Barnes (Aussie rock royalty) and also sing karaoke with the late Slim Dusty (Aussie country GOD). - I'm 47 years old next month and am STILL yet to decide what I wanna be when I grow up. I'm stuck between radio announcer and fire engine. - I've not lost weight for over four months. I've not gained weight either. I've fluctuated between 106 and 110 (kilograms) lost for that entire period. It's finally starting to get to me. - Some people play hard to get. I play hard to want. I'm really not for the faint hearted. But I'm well worth the effort. - I actually do like big butts. But at the same time, I can lie... I'm not. But I can. - Little horses make me smile. No, laugh. In fact, giggle like a child. It's not fake. It's a real giggle. And I love it. - I'm not yet 'proud' of my post-WLS achievements. I've not got 'there' yet. I will. I know it. And when I do, I'll 'proud' myself until I'm blistered and spent. But until then, I'm merely pleased. - I'm an excellent kisser. - I'm an avid anti-violence against women campaigner. I have stepped into various situations on occasions where I thought someone's actions were inappropriate. I will always do so. - On a related note, I've never had a black eye (despite being hit many, many times). - I've never left Australia... But I'm in the process of getting my passport. - I have some issues. - I truly don't believe that you can 'be anything you want to'... But I also believe that such logic shouldn't stop you trying if it's what you want to do. Go and do whatever you like. Don't worry about upsetting or hurting others. Just know that if you do, there may be consequences. - I recently donated 60 used (fat) polo shirts to a local shelter. Every one of them was black. - To me, there are very few things that say summer better than eating a fresh mango in the bathtub. - I unashamedly like Van Halen, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake et al. - I also like Sinatra, Pavarotti and the bagpipes. - I cry in 'The Green Mile'. - I will answer any question openly and honestly - but it's gotta be worded correctly. - I like me. I know my shortcomings. I know my strengths. I don't generally publicize either - but they're all there for everyone to see. - I'm aware that this post has wandered off track and I don't care. - Finally, I'm going to stalk someone's profile... You all know whose... If you've got this far - WHAT THE ABSOLUTE F*CK IS WRONG WITH YOU??? Go spend some time with your family!!! Crazy b*tches!!! . -
Think of it this way - If, right now, you're as much fun as, say, a night at the circus, then after the weight loss, you'll be like a night at the circus followed by three days at Disneyland, a free pass to EVERYTHING at the fair and a day just hanging out with little horses (the second happiest thing in the world!!)... Yeah... You'll still be fun...

"A little vague"?... Oh yeah!! However, you've made it more clear now... So, if that's what you're after then here are some MORE thoughts... - Follow the directions of your medical team - No, no - REALLY follow their directions. - Take the time to heal. I was lucky and was able to function pretty normally after just three days. - Protein, Water and rest: Get used to them. - Don't eat stupid sh*t!!! Have a look at some of the dumbarse threads here and you'll see what I mean... Apart from that, I've nothing... Well... Nothing relevant or appropriate... Good luck to you!!!

Thoughts? Yes... A few... No idea if they'll be any help to you because I have no idea what you're asking... Anyway, here they are... - Good for you. You've been working hard and deserve the break. - I hope your first session goes well. - I'm no doctor of adding and stuff, but six months from now IS early December so I think that may work out nicely. - I was going to ask about your company but couldn't decide what I wanted to know So there you have it... They're the main thoughts I had when I read your post... Not sure if they'll help but they're definitely thoughts... Good luck to you - and enjoy your cruise!!!

Cannot decide what to do.
KindaFamiliar replied to achelln's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Despite the title to this thread, it seems you actually can decide what to do... Not being an arse... Just stating fact... You seem to have it all sorted in your head.. You know what you want... You know what you don't want... And those points put you well ahead of most people... I'd say that going with what you feel is right for you is the best thing FOR YOU... And you said it - "I guess my only option is to get the balloon as a jump start and stop making excuses..." Good luck to you mate... -

Greetings all... KindaFamiliar here... I'm a teller and I've a few things I'd like to say... Tellers are good... Non-tellers are good.. Cats are bad... Cheese is great!! Figs are bad... "Showing your ass" is good... Bedazzled ass is better... Shaming people is bad... Feeling ashamed is equally bad... Being wrong is ok... (Apparently... I wouldn't know as it's yet to happen to me) 'Verbiage' is a great word... 'Disparages' is also a great word... O'Doyle Rules!! "Prayers going up" seems somewhat arrogant and is actually offensive to me... I can only recite Pi to nine decimal places... Did I mention "Cheese is great"? Some of you really suck at using the 'Quote' feature... Speaking of quotes, for some reason, I find the lack of punctuation between the end of the quote and the name of the person to whom the quote is attributed,at the end of each post by @ somewhat distressing... I'm also pretty certain I misused a comma in the previous point... 2nd grade crushes are GOOD!!! @@CHM is kinda cute and smrt and stuff... 'Smart' is intentionally misspelled above - It's a Simpsons reference!!! It's dinner time... Pizza and Coke anyone? -
