I actually asked to start while in the hospital and he said ok but only treadmill and light circuit, then 2 Fridays ago he gave me the green light to go all out, haven't done treadmill cause of my knees, but starting to go heavy on the weights again, and started on free weights, I break it down by parts to get maximum benefits, and I do 3 times a week and rest on the weekends since my muscle needs time to repair and build, but I'm having fun and soon as I go back to work I will get my cardio, I'm also looking forward to getting a kayak as soon as I get down another 75-100 lbs off, great incentive for me!!!!!

5 days Post Op and doing good I think...but still a bit of a head game
laguerr13 replied to daveintx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think ignorance and a failure to understand is the reason people think it's a quick fix, what they don't realize is that it is harder than they will ever realize, trauma to the body, a Jon reversible procedure, and a permanent discipline that if not followed can hurt you, so yeah quick fix my ex fat butt -
My understanding was as long as it wasn't crunchy or hard, so yeah, and don't think it's that great, after I was 2/3s into meal I started hiccuping, which told me I was full, after almost 4 weeks of liquids and soups I really wanted that portion of steak, but I'm realistic now and I let my stomach rule and not my head, my head goes back to my upbringing and says things like "your wasting food" " clean your plate" " you didn't like my food?" Etc. so when I eat rule no. 1 is that I'm fault vigilant about my meal, by using my sleeve, and body, and soon my brain will catch up, it's easy if you realize where it all started, you can do this, we are all stronger than we think until we see ourselves making achievements over and over!!!!

On the 10th of July I will be 1 month post op, and I feel great, I had BBQ for the first time yesterday, steak, shrimp, sausage, the cool part is I ate 2 bites of the sausage, 2 of the 3 med Shrimp, and 3 oz if the steak, and I was full!!!!!!!, this is an awesome change for me and I utilize the sleeve with what I've learned, a typical Sunday breakfast would have been 2 eggs, 6 pieces of bacon and 8 tortillas, today it was 1 egg, half a sausage, and 1 slice of 7 grain bread, and I left 1/4 piece of the bread and 1/2 a sausage, and I always remove the plate and yell I'm done just to re-affirm it to myself, I actually find it harder with drinks, I'm craving things like Energy drinks, my coffee, and yesterday I wanted a beer so bad( I always limited myself to 1 or 2 after college), I'm still researching the alcohol thing, too many varying opinions, even a couple of theories that some wine is good for you after gastric! We will see

I think I can relate to your drinking worries, I was freaking out since surgery on June 10th, until last Friday when my surgeon on my follow up showed me how much. A sip was, now I'm comfortable drinking liquids and the only time u get weary I s when I'm eating or drinking and I get the hic ups, I think it's a sign that I'm getting full, as for your cravings I went through the same thing until a week ago when I went to soft foods and I began tasting my family's foods, that was short lived, so far I have not been the same since before surgery, my taste buds are very intense and I can pick up on things I never did before, like fries and burger from Micky Ds tasted like old oil, and sour meat, also some pizza that tasted very processed, but I am happy about this side effect even if short lived, I crave healthier more natural things now, so don't worry, I heard the same room many of my Loser" friends, good luck everyone is here for each other -
I cheated on my pre-op diet and I feel so guilty :(

We're human but we also need to remember that's what it is here, I am post op since 10th of June and since February I have lost over 64lbs, 388to start and 322 last Wednesday, I do plan to have 1 cheat day every month but no more than that, that's what got me here! -
I know it probably sounds redundant if everyone is telling you but, on those moments of feeling that pressure WALK WALK WALK!!!!!!! It really helped me, it also helps expel the anesthesia which can linger for days and adds to the nausea

That is inspiring I had my surgery on the 10th of June, and I started in February at 388, I went to my PCP yesterday and I'm at 322, I expect to be under 300by end of August, not worried about my loose skin, I'm just happy to be getting my health back and I started to work out at the gym again which makes me happy, I've always loved body building so I can keep up with the weight training, people like you inspire me to keep going and see how far I can take this, thank you for posting -
Has anyone become single as a result of their weight loss surgery?
laguerr13 replied to pinkbunies's topic in Singles Forum
I was very lucky, after a bad 10yr marriage I met my wife, I tried to push her away since I wanted to continue to be single but she was persistent and beautiful, South African, blonde, blue eyes, size 6 etc., she loved me as is, I was 350 when we met, I got up to 388, last 3 years, my surgery was on June 10th and I am now at 322, she has been my biggest advocate and even panicked on the day of surgery and cried never once since we met telling me that needed to lose weight except after the loss of my friend, telling me that they needed me to be around a long time, I'm the luckiest man in the world, I have o plans to be single especially after having my RN over for dinner and her telling my wife "what if he decides he wants to have girlfriends and be single?" She told her she would kill me, I think they they were joking..........except the killing part!! Lol -
Anyone else's post op like this?
laguerr13 replied to Big Opie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Everyone's surgeon has a difference of post op diets, it depends on their preference, they use experience and previous data, his surgery is still fairly new and there is not enough research to substantiate diets, or long term results, mine was 1w liquid, 2w full liquid, and this Wednesday I started on 2w soft, my nurse used a different surgeon and was on soft by week 2, but it doesn't ran you have to do it, if you feel (which you will) like you can't eat anything and prefer water or soups then stick with that too ur tummy is ready, don't go too fast it will hurt you -
8 weeks post Op and just 2lbs away from "Wonderland"
laguerr13 replied to TRexMom6525's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
This "Scale" monster seems like to depress people a little too much, it causes them to forget how far they have come, how they are healthier, and will probably live a longer full life, I took a different approach, I'm using small milestones, fitting into clothes, increasing energy, and less pain, I was at 346 on june10th my surgery day, Friday ate follow up I was at 324, and today at my PCP I was at 322( 323 but I all my clothing and sneakers on) I would like to be under 300 by August toward the end, but it doesn't happen I gave myself before this til December, and if it doesn't happen that way it's ok, I've lost 6 waist sizes and I'm happier -
Eating out - I just need to vent.
laguerr13 replied to jhclikesshopping@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like the establishment that was chosen was not a very friendly one anyway, and it could have happened to a normal patron just along for something different, I would write a review on YELP and let people know, I haven't eaten out yet but is always looking on the Internet for gastric friendly eateries, and there are many, your input is good for people like me, it would help me not go through that situation and avoid places like that, I can barely finish 5oz of food at the moment so I would have been furious not being allowed to order from a child's plate, you did nothing wrong and as a customer based business you would figure they want to go out of their way to accommodate you, I would have looked at it as if I may have to accommodate this patron with a kids portion, but if she tells her friends it means more people will know and that's a win for both the eatery and the patron -

Can I start any pre op diets
laguerr13 replied to TLCRC3SexyMom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did way before my surgery, and the only problem I had up until 3 weeks ago was SIPPING FLUIDS -
Mine was surreal, I work in a psych hospital, in a very acute unit, one of my doctors I bonded with said he would do it for free, when we got through h stuffed all the paperwork in his satchel, took off his glasses and said" you answered perfectly and I'll give you the ok, now cut the bull****, what the hell are you really gonna do with this and don't **** with me I know you!!!!!" So I had to tell him all the changes I made, how I mourned that my mom had passed and felt bad that I blamed her and my culture for a lot of my bad habits, my surgery was on June 10th, I started this journey in January at 388lbs, and last Friday was at 324lbs, and I'm going strong, the only problem I had was that I had to mourn who I was for a few days, cause I loved that guy and always have.......... But I am not looking back

INSURANCE PAY FOR YOUR PROTEIN SHAKES
laguerr13 replied to kia2345's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My family and I are on a strict budget, but I was Able to so far save over $300.00, in the past 2 months just by going online and researching products, sometimes even paying pennies on the dollar in comparison to what my doctor's office carried, including vitamins, I paid $49.99 for a 5lbs can of chocolate protein, which if I had to buy at my doctor's office would have been $60.00 per bag so $180.00 for the same amount, if your willing to the work and research you can save!!! -
Hello, your gonna have an awesome journey, you can get lots of info here, but verify for yourself, my journey would have been way harder if I hadn't joined this forum, even though I researched for two years I learned things here they don't tell you about,I'm on the loser's bench since June 10th, 65+ lbs lost since January and 6 waist sizes down, and I am going strong, keep your chin up, stay informed, and ask questions, this is about your life
-
I planned for cheat meals into long term goals, once per month, but some of those foods are ridiculous, like the new pizza with pigs in a blanket on the ends, I think from Pizza Hut! It's like why??????lol

How to be Successful?
laguerr13 replied to MarceMonster's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
The stall is very normal, your body is still catching up, some of my peeps here on the forum try different things to get thru the stall, going back to protein shakes twice a day for a week, changing to 5-6 times of small meals a day etc. I would look back to see where the stall started and see what you have changed as far as dietary habits, I've found useful things on the Internet to help with long term care, WOK cooking is very good for you and grilling, I found a grill comparable but larger then a George Foreman at Walmart, I also keep trying to memorize and learn new protein snacks to utilize, meats, cheeses nuts, since u preference of exercise is working out at the gym, I will change my routine from time to time, just as important as these aspects for ME is that I get lots of rest, and I don't use the scale to rule my life, instead I chose small milestones, which is working, my journey began in January culminating with surgery on June 10th, and has gotten me to now, 388lbs by jan, 362.2 on first dr visit in apr, 346 on surgery day, and Friday at 324.0, plus losing 6 waist sizes already, try to take focus off scale for awhile and concentrate on improvements, health, and small goals, you can do this, anyone can, you just have to want it
