13 months post and still not there yet....
baoros posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have decided to revisit the site hoping to gain perspective and pep. I have been feeling a bit defeated since I am 13 months post op and haven't made it to 100lbs lost. I have read other peoples experience and most have been more successful that I have been. I am 31 lbs from the 100lbs and I know that I am going to get there, it is just that time is moving very slowly and I really want to get there already. My journey has not been without challenge. Between anemia and hypothyroidism, the struggle has been real. My health has tested my patience and at time the ability to stand on my own two feet, and the tiredness is sometimes too much. What do you I do? -

I still have the app fitness pal but have stopped using it for the most part. I have a fitbit but may get the pocket version. Slow but steady right. Thank you. Reminders are so helpful Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App -

I walk for the most part around my apartment building and I try to get out everyday so I can log my steps. I enjoy being active and going to the beach, it is just stressful to have sudden rapid heartbeat and feeling sick but I try to go out regardless. It is just weird and scary for those around me if I get sick or pass out. I should go back to logging, upping my Protein can never hurt. I am on thyroid medication, and I am being monitored currently to see if between my low thyroid and anemia they are causing my episodes. This experience is stressful but on the upside, I have all my hair and I am wearing leggings. By the way, most comfortable article of clothing ever. -

I am 36 and was 279 on the day of surgery. No longer keeping a food journal but I am reconsidering measuring my foods again. I am quite aware of what I am eating. I try to eat more Protein, vegetables and fruits and keep eating sugars at bay. However, I feel like I have to continue drinking Protein shakes to meet my daily protein goals. I actually prefer salty foods over sugars. Working out has been difficult, I tend to pass out at random times so it has been difficult for both me and friends who are less likely to want to be overly active. Lots of arguments there. Can i say my hormones are at war? that is another issue I didn't really focus on and was not prepared for Honestly, I wish there were people close by that I could work out with. I just don't know. -

Today is day 14 of my post op journey. So far I have lost 9 pounds and I am two ounces from 10 pounds. I feel like I am not losing enough, that I am not getting enough calories and I am struggling with the lack of calories. I have been consuming under 500. The lack of energy is real. I literally feel like I am going to pass out. I don't venture far from home because the last thing I want is to pass out in public. I figured my lack of calories was not helping my energy level was trying to up my calories to at least 800. I managed to get to 700 one day. I tried baked chicken thigh and a cube of baked potatoe. I got three bites in and frankly between paranoia and what I now perceive as fullness I stopped. No issues at all. That was two days ago, yesterday I went to the market and I got raisin bread for my sister, I had a dizzy spell so I tried the bread. I ate two bites chewed it well, and no issues. Eventually I ate the rest and again no issues. I realized I can get liquids in and I don't have to sip(being able to do this so soon makes me feel like an alien from another planet) Sum up the calories and still under 500. Today I went shopping and I chose fish. High in Protein, soft and easy to eat. I have always been a meat, fish and chicken eater. Not really a fan of carbs. Life happens, things happen and I want so much to not be here, be this girl that I don't identify with. But the journey has begun and I want so much to not falter. I know that I am only starting out but so far I don't feel the need to go out and buy bad things. I just want to eat seafood. Which I did. Am I doing the right thing? Am I crazy? So many questions... This took over an hour to write because I couldn't figure out what I wanted to say, excuse the lack cohesion.

I started my soft foods two days early. Bread was not on the list but it was all I had in that moment. Definitely a one time thing. As for the rest they are. -

@@ketukes - Congrats on your surgery. It's a whirlwind. Got to remember that. @@lexiemia - I will be having the cheese and turkey today. That use to be one of my favorites pre surgery. Can't wait. -
Sad about missing food

My surgery was on June 4th. At this point, I use a baby spoon to eat and I time myself. I also try to take moments to savor what I'm eating. The spoon type has really helped me. -
Surgery was on a Thursday and coughing was not in the plans
baoros posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello All, I just had surgery on Thursday 6/4/2015 and I very excited. I must admit that I woke up a ball of nerves because I was not sure I would wake up with regret(yes, I watched a lot of youtube videos lol). Fortunately, that is not the case. Today I had to cough and my word that was painful and uncomfortable. My sister keeps saying to grab a pillow it will absorb the shock, in the moment it really didn't feel that way. As for my Fluid intake, and I am still running behind on that. Though I made slushies out of the Isopure and that helped immensely. Today I will be on sipping duty, I will try my best to get everything or most everything down. We shall see how it goes.
