Well where to begin. I had the lap band because my girlfriend had the bypass and lost so much hair that I wouldn’t even consider having it done. If I would have known that I would have still lost this much hair with the band I would have gotten the bypass WTF. My damn hair is all over the bed in the shower on the bathroom floor just everywhere. I started taking the Biotin supplements about 2 weeks ago and have started using this shampoo Nioxin that my home girl hipped me to thank god. It is expensive as hell, but my hair is worth the world to me. Never been big on weaves. I will rock the ponytails but when it gets down to gluing or sewing no thanks. My problem has been that I am self pay so I paid 500.00 to get a fill and I think those smart asses put in 2cc's instead of .2cc's so since April 9 I haven’t eaten shit. I know that I am too tight but it will cost me 300.00 to get some taken out. I ain’t got it, so I have tried to stick it out and what a battle it has been. I mean yeah I can eat the regular grits, ice cream and soup but one can only eat so much of that until you don’t want anymore. The protein shakes suck, I’m sick of those to but that’s the only protein I can get so I drink them not faithfully but I do. Good luck to you all but this hair loss shit sucks.

Do you burp more now that you are banded? (non-productive, just air)
MonicaFattay replied to dustout's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
OMG…….. I am so glad that I’m not alone. I use to pass gas that would knock walls down, none of that anymore. I have never been a huge burp person but occasionally I could get a good one out. I have not burped at all since surgery just PB’ing:thumbs_down:. It sucks sometimes I wish I could just stick a funnel down my throat and other places to help relive the built up gas:w00t:. GAS X is not my friend either. Good luck ya'll. -
7th Months Out . . . Where does the time go?
MonicaFattay replied to christasha's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am beyond proud of all of us. Good Job Ladies...... :tongue_smilie: -
Let me testify to that. I had fill on 04/09/2008. I have just started back eating as of 07/07/2008. I myself am self pay so I stuck it out. I lost 30 lbs but have been hungry as hell the whole time (only liquids and mushies). It’s really up to you to stick it out or not I’m still not sure if it was worth it but since my fill cost $500.00 under Floro, so I stuck it out. I am not even able to eat in the daytime the only time that my stomach works for me is at night and my quantities are still limited then. You need to make sure you are taking a vitamin because I have been weak and losing hair. Good luck hun.......

7th Months Out . . . Where does the time go?
MonicaFattay replied to christasha's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello fellow December bandsters. Well I actually went shopping because I am tired of the snobs at work asking when I am going to buy some clothes that fit...I felt like saying when you give me the money to buy them.....But anyway plastic to the rescue (I got some new clothes). I went to Lane Bryant which pissed me off because I swore them off after the surgery (LOL). I guess I expected to wake up skinny yeah right. I am in a size 16 now (WOW) from a 20/22. I also went to the Nautica outlet and bought some (L) shirts can you believe it not me I have always been a (XXL) gal. So even though the scale says I have lost 60 and my clothes are starting to say so my brain still isn’t getting it. Congrats to all of you....... Some of us have been through hell but it can only get better. -
6 MONTHS! Progress Poll
MonicaFattay replied to christasha's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Good morning all, I am not and have never been the type of person to brag on myself (never had the self esteem) but damn it today is the day!!!!!!!!!!! I have hit wonderland 198….. 60 lbs gone forever. 11 days past my 6 month goal but oh well. More good news I was self pay so that 8,000 that was haunting me on my credit card was paid off in full TODAY. So go figure I haven’t been able to eat (cranky) and have been broke (surgery). I can now see that the light at the end of the tunnel wasn’t a train. I just had to share with someone. MY SURGERY IS PAID OFF IN FULL YES……… -

Hey Katie I know the feeling trust me. My 6 months was 06/20/2008 and when I hit the scale that morning I was 200.4 that really pissed me off but at least im close. I feel your pain. I have tried to move the scale to a different tile on the bathroom floor everytime I wiegh in (which is daily) thinking it will make a diff. Yeah right. Not sure about my sweet spot but at least I can eat again. I had a fill 04/09 and am just now able to eat solids (somedays). Good Luck take care....... -
6 MONTHS! Progress Poll

Hello ladies. I was also banded in Dec of 07. I have lost 50lbs to date. I feel like it is coming off slowly but at least the scale is moving in the right direction. After my second fill 04/09/2008 I can’t really eat that much basically soft foods still almost 2 months later. Tired of feeling pain when food just sits in my chest. I guess that’s why a lot of the time I just opt no to eat at all. Any words of advice because I was under the impression that once you lose weight the band lets up some and allows you to eat? Any feedback would be appreciated. -
What side is your pain on? If you dont mind me asking mine is in the lower right abdomen.... Went to the Dr. and she said it was GAS. Can't be because it's always in the same spot. Please advise...............

Please help me to understand......OK I was a self pay (mexico) patient because at that time tri-care was'nt doing the lapband or so I was told. So I called tri-care to see if they would at least cover my fills, and I was told yes to get in touch with my PCP and get a referrel which I also did taking off of work to do so. After it was all said and done I got the referrel from her and then tried to call the Hosp. to set up fill appt and was then told that they wouldnt touch me because I had the procedure done in Mexico. I am at Ft.Hood TX anyone else had this problem?

I was banded in TJ Mexico. Dr Huacuz.

Thanks for the response SueMagoo:clap2:. Well today is a lot better I am moving around with ease:whoo:. I'm ready to take these stiches out (1/4). I found a protein shake that I have altered that taste wonderful. 100% Whey (vanilla) with 8 oz of skim milk not water and I have been using 2 scoops with only 8 oz of milk and a small banana blend it up and BAM it's wonderful, and that's 40grams of protein. My hair was beautiful before the surgery but now has a straw like texture:confused:. Hopefully this will help the whole wizard of oz thing i have going on. Got on the scale this morning 22 lbs down thank you lord:clap2:. Hope everyone is well.

Surgeries The Week Of December 17
MonicaFattay replied to nhlapband's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I am exactly 1 week post-op today. Everyone keeps asking was it worth it. I told them to re-ask me that in a month. Been online all day trying to find liquid protein (my hair is shot to hell, shedding bad). I am feeling ok as far as pain, there is some but not enough to even take any pain medication. My doctor told me liquids for a month (Dang). Well I have been doing ok with the liquids but have to admit that I have eaten a pack of instant (watery grits) starting on day 4 post-op. How is everyone else doing? Any ideas for a good source of protein (slim fast only has 10 grams a drink). -

Well today is a hella lot better than the last few have been. I had to cheat ya'll the broth just has'nt been doin it for me. Last night and this morning I ate a pack of instant grits (very runny) but some substance. I was on the liquid diet for 2 weeks before surgery and lost 15lbs but have not lost any additional weight since my surgery 12/20/07. I am wondering if it's all the gas? Well this is what I wanted so I guess I just sit back and see how it goes. Hope everyone is well talk with you soon. -

Well i did it. In some pain not too much. I just hate pain period. i was banded on 12/20/07. I started to check out of the hospital because I was scared as hell but the nurse really helped calm me down. The flight was horrible everyone eating buckets of fries, big fat burgers and huge sandwhiches. Man I am wondering if I have done the right thing. Need to go walk will write back soon. -

Surgeries The Week Of December 17
MonicaFattay replied to nhlapband's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well tomorrow is the big day:whoo:. My husband is making me sick, Im pretty sure its the fact that I have'nt eaten in 9 days:faint:. Trying not to take this out on him but I am in need of huge moral support right now and he's a die hard ARMY man that does'nt cry or feel pain (whatever). I left the house for work this morning feeling like I wanted a divorce. I love him I'm sure it's just my empty stomache talking, and the fact that his ass can eat regular food. I am so nervous. I am hoping like hell that I do not experience all of the gas pains I have read about on here. How are the recent bandsters doing? -
Surgeries The Week Of December 17
MonicaFattay replied to nhlapband's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all, I am having the band placed on Thursday December 20, 2007. I have been wanting this forever self pay of coarse. Now that I am two days away I am scared as hell. I am going to Mexico because that's where I can afford to have the surgery done. I have to be on a ten day liquid diet (day 8:faint:). I didnt think I would make it this far. I wanted to break on the first day but I also don't want anything to go wrong with the surgery. I figure the Dr. said 10 days for a reason. I am so damn hungry but am getting use to not being able to eat:mad:. I still feed my husband and son (lol) I cook them meals I wish I could eat then retire to my room while they graze. I think that I am more scared of flying and the IV :help: than the surgery itself. I also can't wait to eat real food, even if it is a small amount. I am sick to death of chicken broth and apple juice. It sucks! I told the nurse if I was able to only drink liquids for 10 days I would'nt be paying them so much money to band me up. Well anyway this is my first post but surely not my last. I am glad someone created this page a lot of my questions have been answered. Nice to meet you all. Pray for me. 2 days to go.
