    Hi June Sleevers!

    Hope your first day back is going fine ... hang in there! I had a two week stall and didn't lose any weight during week 2 or 3. I honestly didn't worry though; I just did the math and realized that I can't continue to eat 800 calories a day and NOT lose weight. Sure enough, the weight is coming off again. Slow and steady wins the race

    Hi June Sleevers!

    Hi @@chelleshocked ... it's 4 weeks post op for me and I'm also feeling good! I can't believe how much better -- and more "normal" -- I feel from week to week. eggs are awesome, and so is Greek yogurt! A few days ago I made Eggface's ham, cheese, and triple onion bites (aka crustless mini quiches), and they're fab! You can substitute ingredients easily if you aren't allowed to have meat yet. http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2014/10/its-world-egg-day-8-eggceptional-recipes.html

    Pre-Op Constipation

    Just so you know . . . this will be a problem after surgery too! Likely it's due to the smaller amounts of Fiber you're getting in your diet. In the tea (or natural foods) section of your grocery store, you can buy Smooth Move tea. (I know, the name is stupid!) It contains senna stimulant laxative, the same ingredient in Senokot. You need to steep the tea bag for about 15 mins before drinking. Sometimes it works faster for me, sometimes it takes several hours. Some people take it before bed and then things are better in the morning. Good luck to you!!!

    No appetite 3 weeks post sleeve

    My surgery was June 18 and we're in much the same boat. My concern at the moment is getting enough liquid, because I had a dehydration scare several days back. It's tricky to get the eating and drinking balanced, especially when you're not feeling "hungry." I'm supposed to get 70g protein per day, but have been barely managing 63g the past few days. I think I'll just do one more Protein shake per day, which should help with both protein and liquid.
  7. You really look strong, confident, and beautiful! I hope to take a similar picture one day.

    Plantar Fasciitis

    So sorry to hear about your PF, The Candidate. I had it so bad that it stopped me from even walking on a treadmill for over a year. I, too, am hoping that WLS is going to help. And even my small weight loss over the past few weeks has made things better! The NYTimes published an article last year, based on recent research, that recommends one exercise in particular: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/09/15/heel-pain-treatment/?_r=0 Heal fast!!
  9. Hi all, I've been doing well for over 3 weeks post-vsg surgery -- following orders -- and slowly escalating my diet (now in the puree/soft foods stage). I try to keep up on fluids, and generally don't have trouble drinking. This afternoon, while at home alone, I suddenly felt really tired. I didn't "have a reason" other than not sleeping very well for the past few nights. Granted, it's hot here, but I've been inside all day. I did walk 30 mins on the treadmill -- pretty slowly. I laid down for about 45 mins and feel somewhat better, but am still tired. I just had a brainstorm that I might be having symptoms of dehydration. I'm not nauseous, and I've been able to eat and drink. The past few days, though, I've had a very minor headache, have been less hungry, and probably haven't had as many fluids as I should. Stupidly, I had hot coffee early last evening and had my first bout of acid reflux overnight. My esophagus has hurt a little since then. (I do take omeprazole.) My heart hasn't been racing, but I have "noticed" it beating a bit faster than usual, if that makes any sense at all. Earlier today I probably drank about 20 ounces; now I've just had a 6-oz Protein shake and a popsicle, and will push fluids for the rest of today rather than worrying about eating "real food." Does that seem like a plan for avoiding dehydration, or should I be more worried/proactive? Thanks!

    Back! 10 days out!

    Two extra-strength Tylenol? Feel better!!
  11. Other people's negativity -- no matter who they are -- is added weight we just don't need to carry! Keep moving forward, because you can and you will!
  12. Thanks Kindle -- I've had another 16 ounces since then, and I'll keep working on it. I will definitely get Gatorade and pedialyte. I'm finding that Crystal Light is (maybe?) adding to my acid problem. I'm really sorry to hear about your diarrhea/dehydration...that sounds like an absolute nightmare! I trust and hope that all is well with you now.

    What do you guys think I'm doing wrong?

    Veronica, You weigh 81 pounds less than you did 6 months ago. There's every likelihood that you'll keep that off for the rest of your life, plus more. You work out 5 days a week. From where I sit, the only thing you could possibly be "doing wrong" is to frame this incredible success as a failure. {{Hugs}}

    Stalled at two weeks out..

    Finding and celebrating your true worth is the hardest and best work you will ever do. Self acceptance is hard, is possible, and is absolutely priceless. {{Hugs}}

    Stalled at two weeks out..

    If you are old enough to have this surgery then you are old enough to set some boundaries with your parents. I am 50 and I decided to not share numbers with family. I did tell my mom how much I lost after my first post-op appointment but told her and other family members that I would not be sharing the numbers going forward. I've decided not to share my numbers, either. It's an empowering decision for me.

    Stalled at two weeks out..

    I "stalled" between weeks 1 and 3. Simply put, I decided not to worry about it. I'm losing again. More slowly, to be sure, but who cares? It's happening and I'm doing everything I should be doing. If WLS is truly a positive step in my life, I'm not going to introduce needless negativity. Radical self-acceptance or bust!! Wishing you well on your journey.

    Protein boosts?

    I really like Optimum Nutrition products. Their website is geared toward bodybuilding/fitness, but their 100% whey Protein powder is excellent for anyone. I use their Gold Standard powder, with 24g protein per scoop. I typically have shakes but have also added the powder to Soup and oatmeal. You can add it to baked goods, too! http://www.optimumnutrition.com/
  20. Wow, I didn't intend to re-post three times!! Sorry!
  21. Catherine, I have similar issues with nausea/vomiting, especially after general anesthesia. I told every doctor/nurse/surgeon that I could about my history. They kept me well controlled enough that I never vomited post-surgery (3 weeks ago today), and when I said I felt nauseous, they gave me more meds. By far my best nausea medicine was Scopolamine. It's a motion sickness patch that you wear, behind your ear, for 3 days. While taking it, I felt really steady and was better able to sip liquids. Ask your surgeon about it! Also, I limited my post-surgical pain meds, because they make me nauseous too. Catherine, I have similar issues with nausea/vomiting, especially after general anesthesia.
