You could definitely start your 6 month supervised weight loss with your PCP now, just make sure it's all very documented so that it'll count. It took me a few months to get up and going between the mandatory seminar with my surgeon's office, and some other hoops, and it definitely would have been nice to be further along in my own 6 months at this point. I'm not in Canada, but I think I'm about in the same stage as you are. I've been researching Sleeve and RNY for a year, and finally started the process a couple of months ago. I've had my first full work-up visit lasting several hours, met with the nut, exercise therapist, surgeon, had my psych eval, and am working through my 6 month supervised weight loss (in month 2 right now). Hoping for surgery in May/June. Good luck to you!

BMI 40-41 and pre-op diet

I have met with two different surgical practices (settling on the second I met with - they were far superior), and neither of them would have required a pre-op diet. One did like to see low-carb for the week prior, and the other said it's not necessary. My BMI is 43 right now and will likely be right at 40-41 at surgery time. -
