    Pregnant and overwhelmed need HELP!

I am so sorry for your loss. Having gone through the same thing (but not post-op) I know how awful it is. Praying for you and your family.

    First appt.!

I imagine it varies among practices, but at my first visit I was there for four hours. I met with the surgeon, finance, had labs drawn, EKG, met with the psych, nutritionist, and exercise therapist.

    Eating

I struggled my first month during my medically supervised diet (required for 6 months per my insurance). My head just wasn't in it - to me, it felt like yet another attempt to lose weight that I was just going to fail. BUT then I realized this is the time to get my act together because this time I will.not.fail. There's a light at the end of this yo-yo dieting tunnel and I'll soon have the tool I need to help me be truly successful. With the mindset shift, I was able to make a couple of changes that have really helped and I've been steadily losing since then. I started swapping out one meal a day with a Protein shake or Protein Bar (paired with some veggies or something small). That change led to other changes (better eating/better choices) and a few weeks later I seemed to break out of the cycle of constantly craving crap food. I hope you find something similar. Good luck!

    Approved!

Congrats! That's so quick - wow!
  8. Are there any websites/stores you can recommend where I can purchase samples of a variety of Protein? I found the Syntrax Nexctar one on the BP Store, but it's currently out of stock. I'm looking for unjury, Isopure - anything, really. Anyone know of any place where I can purchase these?
  9. I'm not telling others (besides my husband). I don't want comments in either way - both of disagreement or support - because my weight is not a topic I care to discuss with others. I'm uncomfortable discussing weight loss with family and friends, so I have not told anyone else, and it will stay that way.
  10. My kids are 3 and 7 and I will not be telling them what type of surgery I'm having. I'll let them know that I need to go to the hospital for a night, and some other general bits of information to satisfy them, but I don't plan to explicitly tell them I am having WLS. Like you, I don't want them telling others what I'm having done (nor do I want to ask them to keep a secret/lie), and it's just not a detail I feel they need to know.
  11. Huge difference! Congrats!

    psych meds with bypass

I take Prozac and haven't had surgery yet, however, my surgeon did let me know that I'll want to make sure that I monitor for changes (and have my husband on the lookout as well) because I'll quite likely need my dosage adjusted due to the amount being absorbed after surgery. It sounded like it was more of a 'wait and see' and then trial and error to find the correct dosage again, much as it was the first time we were finding a med/dosage that would work well for me.

    PASSED PSYCH EVAL

It's so nice to cross one more thing off the list of hurdles that stand between the present and surgery. Congrats!

    Just waiting ????

    Hope everything went well today!
  17. As others have stated, this is an extremely personal decision that only you and your husband can make. (well, and your surgeon if you go for surgery first, since many require 2 years, but you'd want to know what your specific surgeon has to say about it). Since you did follow up and ask specifically what we would do - personally, if I was healthy enough to conceive and carry a child before surgery, I would do that. If I had 'baby fever' now, it would be excruciating to wait to have surgery (especially if there was a 6 month diet, like my insurance requires), then 2 more years on top of that (as my surgeon would require). Then, time to conceive, 9 more months until delivery, etc. I also have a fear of regain post-surgery, so I'd rather be done with intentional weight gain, like with pregnancy, before having surgery so there won't be any other instances looming in my future where I KNOW I'll need to gain some weight. But again, this is an extremely personal decision and only you know what's right for you. Good luck with whatever you decide!
  18. Glad to hear surgery went well! Hope the gas pains continue to ease up for you a bit so you can rest.

    Where to purchase sample protein?

Thank you, thank you! I'm off to order a variety of samples now from the sites listed above. I do have Premier Protein (just had one for lunch, in fact) and Chike Original coffee as well.

    Had surgery this morning

    Congrats! Glad it went well!
  21. I started my 6 month supervised weight loss in mid-November, so I've had 2 appointments thus far. I'm hoping for surgery in late-May/early-June, but that will all be dependent upon how quick my insurance is to approve (fingers crossed they will!), and when my surgeon has availability. It seems so far away right now, but I imagine it'll pass by fairly quick in the grand scheme of things.
