Happy Anniversary Month Everyone!!!! I am doing great! The weight loss has slowed down considerably, but I am down to 160lbs which is only 5lbs from goal. Hope to be there by my 1yrear follow-up appointment scheduled for next month. I will say I'm not fond of all the loose skin especially on my arms, but it's better than the extra 130lbs I was carrying.Lol!! Still trying to the recommended diet focusing on Protein 1st, and the portions are really smalI, I'm surprised sometimes at how soon I'm full. I do allow myself to have treats from time to time without overdoing it. It's great to hear from everyone and happy for everyone's hard work and success!

I was sleeved on July 29th and would love to hear from all my fellow July and August sleevers. How has your journey been so far?

6 Months Out, How Is It Going?
AYRW71 replied to AYRW71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I did kinda forget to mention how I was doin. Lol! The first few months were very difficult. I had constant nausea and vomiting everyday. It has gotting so much better and I would do it all again. My sleep apnea has also drastically improved. I am still learning my "full" spot and sometimes go way too far and it becomes uncomfortable. But I am loving my decision to do this and loving the results. It's great to hear that everyone is going well. Here's to our continued success! Alicia -
AMEN!!! This is the ABSOLUTE best post I've read on this site. I welcome any and all prayers. I always tell people I may not a always have much to give, but I can always offer prayer. Not everyone is receptive, but I know the POWER OF PRAYER and will do so anyway. Felix THANK YOU for this post and thank God from whom all blessings flow. Not only will others be blessed by this, but you and your family will also. To God Be The Glory

I had my surgery July 29, 2015 and have lost just over 100lbs so far, but I ABSOLUTELY hate when people ask how much have you lost followed by how did you do it. I usually answer "a lot" and I tell them the truth that I had the sleeve procedure. My problem is I then get that "oh you took the easy way out" look from people. There has been nothing easy at all about this journey. I had 4 months straight of nausea and vomiting and still suffer from some vomiting on a smaller scale. But I work very hard watching what I eat and exercising. How do I answering these questions while at the same time stressing that I've worked hard for my weight loss?

Hello, I am 5 months out and had horrible nausea and vomiting. Still not completely over it, but it's much better. Had several test ran and my doctor said that it just takes some people longer. Best advise it take small bites and eat VERY VERY slowly. I'm still working on that part. Good luck! Alicia

W Ms. Robots your doing great! I'm going to try some of that soon. I was sleeved on July 28th and I've lost about 38lbs. since surgery (about 76 total from highes weight) I had a rough start after surgery. I was nauseous and threw up constantly for one straight month. Couldn't return to work or anything. It has gotten much better. Don't feel nauseous much anymore until I eat. Some things just feel like a knot at the top of my stomach then it comes right up. So I went back to mostly soft things for now and will slowing try to add more things later. I would love to hear how more July sleevers are doing.

16 days post op & 16 days of vomiting
AYRW71 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery and hiatal hernia repair on July 28th. Instead of getting better, it is getting harder and harder to keep ANYTHING down. I have been back to the doctor 2 times and have several meds for nausea and also still on full liquids only. I was told yesterday that I was on the verge of dehydration and could use an IV drip, but I'd have to come back because they were done by appointment and there wasn't a free bed available (smh). I am not getting in any nourishment and starting to feel pretty crappy. Please tell me that someone else has had a similar experience and have come out on the other side. I know there has to be light at the end of the tunnel , I'm just ready to see it. -

AYRW71 replied to AYRW71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello All, I finally got back in to see my doctor yesterday and convinced him to please run some test just to ease my mind. Well thankfully all the test came back fine and he said it would just take some time for me to get over the nausea. I also received an IV for the dehydration, it took just over for hours, but I feel so much better. On mushy foods today and so far it stayed down. Amitchell39, how are you feeling? Still praying that things are looking up of you as well. Thanks again everyone, -

I'm so sorry to hear that, but hopefully this is where things will start to turn around. That sounds exactly like what I've been experiencing. Thank you for the prayers and I'll be praying for your daughter as well. Alicia -
I can certainly relate. I was sleeved on 7/28 and the nausea is getting worse. I'm in desperate need for some relief. My doctor just continue to say it will get better with time. I'm just concerned that it may be something more serious. Good luck and hopefully you're feeling better soon.

16 days post op & 16 days of vomiting
AYRW71 replied to AYRW71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all of the advise and information. I go back to the dotor on Wednesday morning and I am going to insist that he running some test to see if there is a stricture or something else going on. The vomiting has continued and I need something to ease my mind that it's nothing more serious going on. Thanks again -

What advise has your surgeon giving you? Mine continue to tell me that it will get better, that he's seen this before and although it is miserable it will get better. I wish he would run a test or X-ray to see if it is a stricture or scar tissue because that is what I really feel may be going on. Good luck to you. Hopefully this ill pass and you'll be happy that you had this procedure. -

Any sleevers scheduled for late July?
AYRW71 replied to kbpaulie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You guys are doing awesome and that's great! Physically I think I'm doing fine. The incisions feel a lot better and it's getting easier to swallow without that burning feeling all the way down. But I don't feel like the eating is progressing at all. Because I was throwing up in the beginning I was told to hold off on the protein shakes for a few days, so it was cream of wheat and broth only. Started protein yesterday, but most disappointing is I don't think I've lost ANYTHING. My husband keeps telling me to be patient, it's only been a week, but I can't help but worry that I'm going to have the same struggles as before. If yon haven't figured it out yet I'm very emotional and a bit of a worry wart :-) -
9 days out, 8 oz of soup?
AYRW71 replied to jademanke@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only 5 days post -op and was unable to keep anything down the first 3 days. But I am real concerned that 1) I feel hungry, and 2) I can almost eat a whole bowl of cream of wheat. I'm starting to feel like my sleeve didn't take at all. Everyone is saying one or two bites and they were stuffed. -
When will eating become a positive experience again?
AYRW71 replied to Samkay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor prescribed Methocarbamol for stomach cramping. I was sleeved on 7/28/15 and I haven't been able to keep anything down just yet. Trying to figure out what will stay and what won't. All protein drinks are out for now. They immediately hurt and come back up. -
Any sleevers scheduled for late July?
AYRW71 replied to kbpaulie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello July Sleevers I'm back, Just like my_new_life time I also had a hernia that they repaired. And what was suppose to be an overnight stay turned into 2 nights. I'm not able to keep any food or liquids down so they kept me to monitor things. Still not able to keep much down, they think it is from swelling and should get better. They allowed me to come home today. All and all I'm fine and would do it all again. Praying everyone else is doing fine. And my_new_life hang in there.:-) -

AYRW71 replied to kbpaulie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's 12:30am, I have to leave for the hospital at 3:30am to arrive by 5am, because it's in Dayton OH and my surgery time is 7am. So WHY am I still awake? Lol! Any of my fellow July 28th sleevers finding it hard to sleep tonight? Prayers to all those that are getting sleeved tomorrow (today). We'll chat and compare notes on the other side of this journey. God Bless, Alicia -
Pre vs post op diet...prepare yourself! (This is somewhat of a rant also)

I'm sorry that your having such a hard time and pray that soon you will be having the life changing experience you were hoping for. I will say that most not all of the people that I have heard having such a hard time like your self did got have much time between approval and the actual procedure. My ins. required 6 months with a dietician, some weight loss before hand, psych visits and group classes. Of course I complained and thought it was over kill. But now I see that it Was a way to get us ready for both the physical and mental changes we are about to go through. There is no way I could go from eating and living like I was one day and the next HAVE to make a complete change. For me that's like an addict going cold turkey and fighting withdrawals. I'm scheduled for surgery on July 28th and may go through some of the very same things you are, the mood swings for sure, we don't know, but I am glad that I've had time to make some adjustments, weigh all my options, good and bad and get prepared for this change. Again I wish you nothing but the best and pray that it will get better. -

Kbpaulie, thanks for starting this topic. You're absolutely correct. I check this site every evening and love to read everyone's post and find strength and encouragement to stick with it. Praying for all of our success. I'm sure this wasn't a easy decision for any of us and we've worked hard to get to this point so let's take it on home and finally WIN this battle. Alicia -
Any sleevers scheduled for late July?
AYRW71 replied to kbpaulie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today was my second day of the pre-op diet. The days have not been too bad, although every thing anyone is eating sounds and smells great, rather I liked it before or not LOL, but I've managed. This time of evening is when the hunger hits me and I feel like I haven't eating enough. Hopefully in the next 12 days I'll be adjusted and the scale will show a nice pre-surgery suprise. I don't facebook (I know that's surprising) so please continue to post here also from time to time so I can see how all my fellow July 28th sleevers are doing:-) Alicia -
