    Depressed because of weight gain

Are you tracking and weighing food? I use my fitness pal. My surgery was June 8th so I am right around same stage. I am getting my protein and fluids in and trying to limit my carbs. Not as low as some here. I usually am between 40 and 80 grams a day. I have been in a stall this week. Don't worry too much. I know that's hard not to do. I went up 2 pounds one day then went back down and then kept losing.

    Day 18 post op

Fluids are number 1. My doctor said the first two weeks he was not concerned with the protein as long as I was getting fluids. I had a tough time with fluids so I switched to using a straw and it works for me

    I'm sick!

Same thing happened to me the first week post op. Its horrible. All I could take aS sugar free cough drops and a benadryl. The coughing hurt so bad. I feel for you. Get lots of rest!! Plenty of fluids too

    The dumbest diet you tried?

Yeah I did hcg. You lose fast but it's very hard to stay on lo,g term so you gain it all back

If I am honest with myself....

I have gained and lost so many times as much as 80 pounds and regained. I did not consider band because I needed a permanent solution. Just my opinion

    Products to make life easier!

Gas x strips. Were a lifesaver. I also have a small plow I use everyday. I have a good scale too. All good advice!

    Taking NSAID's for back pain

I had a bad headache 3 days out and my surgeon said it was fine to take Excedrin as long as I cut the pill in half. With sleeve you can still eventually take those meds just not right away. With bypass you are told not to

    Tell the truth, exercising

I am 4 weeks out and the only main exercise I am doing are some squats. I walked a little but not too much. I plan to get back to it around 6 weeks hopefully when my energy gets a little better

    Desperate for help re: eating

I started eating pureed foods because shakes were hard for me too. My but said it was fine as long as I was meeting my protein and fluid goals.

    Caffeine?

I have been having my coffee protein shake since I got home from the hospital. Just make sure you get your fluids in and you should be fine.

    protein shake suggestions?

I had a hard time with shakes and tried a lot of samples. The only ones I can really take are my click coffee protein shakes with 1 percent milk and syntrax matrix fuzzy navel with water. Pretty much all syntrax was pretty good to me but only with milk

    Calorie intake?

I am 4 weeks out and I get on average 800 to 1000 calories a day. I shoot for over 70 grams of protein a day. I watch the carbs and sugar. The amount I get varies. As long as I am getting in more protein and still losing I am not worrying too much. My surgeon actually recommends at this stage under 800 calories. I basically eat when I am hungry, making sure I am well hydrated. I track everything in my fitness pal. I figure this process is not a sprint but more of an endurance run. Meaning I have to live the rest of my life on a plan that works for me that allows me to get to goal. Of eating more carbs some days helps me not be tempted by sugar or other treats I would have eaten in the past then I am cool with it. I was 277 day of surgery and am 256 now a few days before my 4 week mark

    Duration of Recovery time?

I am taking a full I weeks. My surgeon recommended it in the beginning. His main reason was many people go back too soon and have hydration issues. He doesn't recommend anything less than 4 weeks. I am glad I am taking the entire time because my energy levels fluctuate. I also have a stressful job

How long will it hurt to swallow?

I get that feeling when I eat too big of bite or don't chew well enough. Make sure you go slow

    Just had surgery yesterday

Yes I think everyone is different for sure. I had a hysterectomy about 8 weeks before the sleeve and I felt pretty good, this surgery kicked my butt pretty hard. I felt ok on if meds but when I switched over in the hospital to liquid pain meds it was hard for me. I also don't know if it was the way I was positioned during surgery or if I pulled a muscle but my right side under my shoulder blade down really hurt. I was pretty bruised too. Still have bruising and I am on my fourth week. I also had hiatal hernia repair at the same time.

    Just had surgery yesterday

The first 5 days were tough but it gets better. The gas pain was the worst. Walk as much as possible. Gas x strips helped too.

6 months post sleeve and need help!

Keep in mind if you are at the gym 4 or 5 days a week you might need to increase calories a bit on those days.

    So weak after surgery

The first week was the hardest. Week to and beyond get much better

No feeling of restriction at 2 months

I am so glad someone posted this. According to my food plan I should be eating between 400 to 600 calories on week 4. I can eat a peach, no problem. I can take 16 oz protein drink no problem. It takes me longer to eat now but I can pretty much eat anything. I am trying to be careful to eat the right foods. I don't really feel hungry but I can usually tell when I need to 31st by my tummy growling a bit. I am worried at how much I can eat

    Sleep Apnea

I also have severe apnea. I used my machine while in hospital but did not use it for a few days post op because the air was causing me pain. Probably not the best decision though.
