Roll call all who had surgery JUNE 2015
Soapandcandlequeen replied to JosieAppleHead's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello! I am also June 8th. I am also in a stall right now. I have lost 30 pounds so far. Not complaining. I am getting a little bored with my food though. -
Is a big appetite common?
Soapandcandlequeen replied to mataz78's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
One thing I can say is there are certain foods you can eat alot more of than others. I think someone referred to them as slider foods. They are always the empty foods I should not be eating in my experience. Like crackers. I was told I could have wheat thins and soon realized I could eat alot of crackers. Weak moment. Lol. If I eat protein foods like chicken etc I can only eat about 3 oz -
This food is my new best friend !

Slider foods is the perfect way to describe it. I had to get rid of wheat thins for that reason -
Sleeved June10th 2015 and STILL at a stall!

7 Months Post Op- not losing weight
Soapandcandlequeen replied to ALittleLessSarah's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree with increasing calories. Awhile back I had lost about 80 pounds and was training 4 days a week. I could not lose so I bought the body bugg system that you wear on your arm. You record your food and then download the results from your activity. It was crazy. I was burning a ton of calories and the system recommended I increase calories by 800 a day. The next week I lost 8 pounds and continued losing. -

Wow. That is crazy but I totally believe it happens. I am in my second stall and I actually gained a pound. Keep your head up. It will all work itself out -

A 5 week stall that early out doesn't seem quite right to me. Everyone is different though. Are you recording your food, water, protein and calories? -
I got to thinking. I ordered tons of samples from syntrax, body nutrition and injury that I have never used and are unopened. I was thinking there may be some more people out there like me and would it be a good idea to share with those that need samples or want them? I will go through and catalog what I have and live st it here. If someone wants it I can send it out. What does everyone think?

WTH? All these different post op diets after sleeve! Ughhh
Soapandcandlequeen replied to daveintx's topic in Rants & Raves
My insurance required me to go to a surgeon who was considered a center of excellence. These doctors and facilities have to prove they know what they are doing, have low complication rates etc. My surgeon is the chief of bariatric surgery at UCD medical center. The entire team is a well liked machine. I had every test known to man before being approved. His plan was very clear. I actually have a little book that outlines everything. I say this because before I found out I needed to go to a center of excellence I was already in process with another doctor office. They were not nearly as thorough and I would have been rushed into surgery far sooner. Many of the health issues I had would have been missed. I think people need to be more careful selecting their surgery teams. My post op has been much easier because this surgeon has done thousands of surgeries and knows what works. Some people were on full food at 4 weeks whilevi was still on puree. I am on regular food at 8 weeks. My surgeon also recommended at least 4 to 6 weeks off work. They actually prefer 8. I am so glad they said that because I could not have imagined going back sooner. My surgeon said most of the issues with dehydration is when people go back to work too soon and then end up in the hospital. Anyway, this is just my experience but I Am so glad I have such an experienced team who are more cautious. -
I was one of those People that cannot stand the taste of water after surgery. I am told it will eventually go away. I have crystal light but they can be a bit too sweet for me. I found the orange crush liquid water enhancer and co swear it tastes just like the soda without carbonation. I just saw that they have the packets likeccrystal light now.

Before surgery I loved bread. Rolls, white bread with butter etc. I know I cannot eat that anymore. Having even a little would trigger had habitscso I stay away. My hubby loves pizza and it smells so good. I had the topping off one slice and it made me sick. Won't do that again

A lot if it is age and genetics. Lifting weights is great advice. There is only so much you can do. The options are plastic surgery or live with it. It just depends on what you are comfortable with.

The GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY!
Soapandcandlequeen replied to Nikki Monroe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I also have not kept it secret but also have not been advertising it either. Everyone has an opinion you will soon learn. Many of those people are thin. I just ask them when it was that they lost 100 pounds and it shuts them up. No one knows what it's like unless they have walked in your shoes. You will also get hate from the over weight. Some is jealousy. You just have to k ow you are doing what is best for you -
Slow loss @ 7 week post op
Soapandcandlequeen replied to lisa13fan's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am week 7 also and in my second stall. I actually gained a couple pounds. I know that it's impossible because I am only eating 800 calories a day but you still freak out a little. Don't worry. -
restaurant choice
Soapandcandlequeen replied to missheidi47's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
When you have a small stomach and can only eat so much my advice is to order the healthy choice you want to eat. I would not be able to eat the salad and the steak so I would probably just eat the steak since I love filet mignon. -
Ok so I need help here... One week post op
Soapandcandlequeen replied to kazy298's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the same pain. It hurt so hard when I coughed or had the hiccups. -
I am laughing because I have been watching cooking shows and posting recipes on face book. I call it food porn. Somehow dreaming of eating gives me comfort. The emotional side of this journey is very real. I think it sets in that you will never eat the same way again. I was a little sad when I saw an ad for national cheesecake day. I love cheesecake and it's half off cheesecake at the cheesecake factory. Pre surgery I would have planned my week around that. Lol.

When did you start feeling more energetic?
Soapandcandlequeen replied to Beachsprite's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Its hard to answer this because pre op I was a mess. My iron levels were so critically low that I had to delay surgery for t weeks of iron Infusions. I was also low on vitamin d and was given a prescription for it so I pretty much felt like crap most of my pre op time. I am week 7 post op and I still struggle with my energy levels but do feel so much better -
Confused about B-12
Soapandcandlequeen replied to JessterNC's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am on b12 as of 2 weeks post op . I hate the sublingual I have so I don't take it everyday. I wish I had chewable. I have chewable almost all my vitamins. Even though I can swallow pills now it's still so much easier with chewy vitamins -
Four+ weeks out, have been hungry all weekend
Soapandcandlequeen replied to rocky_elbowa's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Try to drink through this because it does go away. I take a couple hours to get my morning shake down and that helps. In the beginning the only meal that kept me full was refried beans or mashed potato which I was allowed to have. Be careful though because they are higher in carbs so long term I would not advise but it's ok at the stage you are at -
Pain all over 2 weeks post-op
Soapandcandlequeen replied to jas84047's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had that too, I was surprised by it because I didn't expect to be feeling worse farther out from surgery. I am week 7vand this is the first week I feel better. I finally went for a massage this week and feel better -
I am on week 7 and I was told to strive for 600 to 800. Most days I fall right in the middle. There have been days I was above that too but not too many.
