Well done nat, you have done so well  Have you tried not eating a few hours before going to bed, maybe that will help with the chocking whiel sleeping?

Chewing ... learning to eat all over again

Thats ounds good Nat. I had a similar problem to you and i got some taken out, then I had the opposite problem, i could eat too much:unsure:. I ended up choosing to be a little bit too tight than too lose. I have to eat really slowly and I too can't drink much within a couple of hours of eating. I do puke sometimes, especially when i am thirsty and need a big drink. Dr Watson didn't seem too concerned and basically said it was my choice, but vomiting wasn't good and could cause problems, so i am taking it slow.

Chewing ... learning to eat all over again

I know what you mean Nat. I made lamb curry the other night and becuse the meat was so slowly cooked and very tender I could actually eat some, which I enjoyed......but go figure, I can't eat chicken and rice makes me puke, while Pasta is fine:huh2:

    Any June 2008 Bandsters?

No need to be sorry katy. You seem like you have alot on your plate, my goodness:mellow: A week after my op in jan, my 2 year old developed a bacteria infection in his hip, he needed surgery and had to wear a hip cast for 3 months. It was such a nightmare, i look back on that now and wonder how i got through it. He is doing well now, thank goodness. But you definately have alot on you rplate and I can understand you feeling down. Stress is a huge factor and just be careful because I developed a bit of depression a few months after my band. I placed so much preasure on my self and coupled with my son being sick, just all got to me. If you wantto chat or maybe catch up for a coffee, my email is kita-blue@live.com.au Kita

    Any June 2008 Bandsters?

hi Katy I am from Perth too, I was banded in jan, not June, but still wanted to say hi, so hi:smile2:. I have lost about 38 kilos now and i do feel great. Don't be down about not losing weight for a while, if you are anything like me, i have weeks where I don't lose and and then bang, a few kilos is gone. Maybe you need a fill, if not, hang in there, I am sure the weight will start to come off again. I have the same problem as you when it comes to gas, I get bad heartburn too. I am trying to eat more frequently and very slowly, and of course cut back on the wine:wink2: Good luck xx

    Watch that stress

i am so tightly filled that there is no way I could eat that much icecream without puking my guts up, did you puke? If not, you need to get a fill maybe. My problem is red wine, I have actually increased the amount I drink, i was a light drinker before, but now i would say I am a moderate drinker. So many calories in wine and it reaks havok with my heart burn. Good luck, I know it can get you down, but just remember the reasons you had the op, and don't dwell on your mistakes, every day is a new one, so start it fresh:girl_hug:

Nat, that is such a good result. I am glad to hear you can't eat in the morning. I have been battling to eat before lunch and I was worried there was something wrong with me, glad to hear you have the sme problem. I really only drink Water before lunch, then eat hourly after that. Congratulations again

Well Done luscious, thats a great result!!! I am very pleased with my weight loss, I am just battling with heart burn and i am still having some shoulder tip pain, which drives me mad. i am also finding it hard to take teh time to eat, i have to eat really slow, but havinga 2 yer old makes it hard. I am stoked with my weight loss though and would not change aa thing.

    Dr. Watson pricing???

Hey Perthchick, I was a bit sore, but mostly very tired after the op. I am a stay at home mum so i didn't have to worry about work, but lifting my 2 year old was hard, so i had to organise help. After a week aI felt pretty good, and I reckon after 2 weeks I was back to normal. I didn't choose my anaethetist, but the anaethtist was a really nice man and he charged no out of pocket expense. I am not sure what health fund you are with, but i am with HBF, and they covered me. My friend is with medibank private and she was covered. I don't think you have much to worry about, especially with your health conditions. Fills usually cost $150, and with that you get back just over $100 If you are anxious, maybe you should ask to be put on a wait list for any canceled appointments and you may be ableto get in sooner. Good luck, and if you need a friend, i am here:regular_smile:

    Dr. Watson pricing???

I got banded in Jan and have lost 38 kilos. It hasn't always been easy, but Dr Watson is a very nice man and always makes time for you, you are in good hands :-)

    Dr. Watson pricing???

Hey perth Chick. I was banded by Dr Watson, had to wait about 6 weeks from appointment to surgery and out of pocket expenses was about $1900 (I am with HBF). Was well worth it, he is a great surgeon and a nice man, good luck.

    Did you tell people?

i kinda agree with you Fanny. When people tell me how much weight I have lost, i do tell them i have had lap banding, I would feel in some way I was betraying the lap band if I didn't lol. But having said that, it has taken me a while to have the confidence to do so. In some way we are made to feel like failures, which is way wrong.
  16. Cherry_Blue

    Did you tell people?

I didn't tell anyone at first. It was mainly because once I made my mind up, I didn't want anyone who had no idea telling me their opinion. I t was hard enough making the call, you don't need people bringing you down. Since having the band and losing weight I have started to tell people, it does make it easier and its suprising as to how many I thought were not going to be, actually are really supportive.

    JaNuArY 08 Bandsters.... howzit?

Thanks jess. i have 6ml in my band now, and I am pretty much at my limit. I can't eat before 11am, if i do I vomit, I even have to sip my coffee super slow or I become sick. i eat 2 crackers and a bit of hommus for lunch and then for dinner i eat about as much as my 2 year old. Eating dinner is hard and i have to eat super slow, takes me sometimes an hour to finish a handful of food. I try to snack on avocados and higly nutritious food in between. Don't get me wrong, i would never go back to the way I was, I just wish I could eat a little bit more, but my dr tried taking liquid out and I could eat anything ....what to do?? A couple of weeks ago I was vomiting really bad and on one day started vomiting blood for 12 hours. My dodctor gave me some tests, the barium xray showed that my bad hadn't slipped:unsure: Thanks for your support though jess, it means alot:regular_smile:

    Anyone getting banded in AUGUST

Good Luck Michelle, You won't need it though I purchsed my first pair of size 18 jeans from the normal section on thw weekend. i used to squeeze into a size 24. That made everything that I have gone through well worth it.

    Anyone getting banded in AUGUST

Good luck Mumof2. I felt the same the day before surgery, i nearly pulled out, now its been 6 months and I have lost just under 40 kilos. I have had a few problems, mainly with reflux and over restricted, but i would not change a thing, it is the best thing I have done. Good luck, i will be thinking of you

    Anyone getting banded in AUGUST

After my op, I asked my husband to hide the food I couldn't eat. He would put it on his plate so i kept my op a secret.

    JaNuArY 08 Bandsters.... howzit?

hey Jess Babe!!! You do look great, and sooo much younger well done girl:thumbup: I have lost 38 kilos, I was banded on jan 16th. I started at 147 and am now 109. Not bad, but am having a few problems... Am very restricted in what I can eat, am getting a bit down in the dumps with it all:crying:
  23. Hi Lello. I was banded by Stephen Watson in January. I have currently lost 30 kilos and am doing great. he is a wonderful doctor and have nothing but good thing sto say about him. I only had to wait about 5 weeks from first consult to operation, so with any luck you will be banded soon  I had huge reservations about it and freaked out the night before, but now i am sooooo happy, its the best thing I have ever done. I am having trouble finding the right balance, I had a fill, it was too much so they took some out and now I can eat nearly everything, so i think its just a matter of finding the right amount of liquid... Coincedently I have an appointment on August 21st with doc watson too

    No energy

I weighed myself today and discovered I had lost 21 kilos since my op on Jan 16. I am excited but I am finding I am seriously lacking energy, especially since my 2nd fill last week (march 25) I usually have oats for brekkie, maybe a yoghurt for lunch (find it hard to eat lunch) a banana in the afternoon and a small dinner, usually an omlette or quiche, sometimes a stir fry. I am glad to be 20 kilos lighter, but i battle to get out of bed and keep up with my son. i need healthy, lap band friendly food. Can anyone help, i would be most greatful:biggrin2: Thank you very much xxxxxxxxx:cool2:

    Why am I hungry?

I am 3 weeks post op and I have lost 12 kilos so far, but I am hungry. I am eating less than before, but my weight loss has stopped and I am worried I have lost focus:sad: I have had a hard couple of weeks. My son was in hospital for 2 weeks and I stayed with him. he seems on the mend, but its been so hard seeing him so sick. I was only 7 days post op when he got sick, so in some way all my plans went out the window. I have an appointment on Feb 26th for my first fill, does that help? Help
