  1. I was banded on April 8th and everything has been going well until yesterday. I went on a 3 mile hike and now one of my incisions which looked completely healed is now swollen, slightly red, and is causing me pain. Is this normal or should I be worried?
  2. Sorry I meant I have not experienced pb or slime with either of my surgeries.

    Hospital Experience

I had my sleeve done Nov 5th. I was only in the hospital overnight. My husband stayed all night with me but honestly all I did was sleep so he could have stayed home lol. For me the pain the first night was about a 7 out of ten but the next morning my doctor took out my drain and my pain level dropped to a 2! I was able to do everything for myself from the minute I woke up, they had me walking the hall two hours after I woke up. I had to keep on the hospital gown while I was there because the nurse needed access to my drain but I know not all surgeons use them. I would bring your own socks and your favorite pair of underwear. As far as energy for the first two weeks I was tired all the time, I could sleep for 11 hours and still be tired all day but I have been told that is really common. Good luck on your surgery I hope this helps!
  4. You all literally just made my christmas! I am 7 weeks post op and I have lost 25lbs which under normal circumstances would be amazing but I was feeling like such a failure. Good to know I am not the only one!
  5. Congratulations! ! I am so happy you chose your own happiness!!
  6. I have only told a select few but when asked directly what I am doing to lose weight I tell the truth and for the vast majority of people the response is overwhelming support. For the very few who were not supportive I just remind myself that they don't have to live in my body I do and choosing wls is my way of providing myself the best future I possibly can!
  7. They really should warn us women about starting a period lol I started my first cycle in two years the morning after surgery in the hospital. The area where my port was hurt for a while as well, hang in there it the pain is worth it!
  8. I had a band to sleeve revision on Nov 5th and I have never experienced pb or slime.
  9. You have to check with your own insurance, but it's my understanding that most insurances will cover a revision even if they didn't originally cover a wls. My mom's insurance doesn't cover any wls but will cover a revision if you are having complications because it would be deemed medically nessacery.
  10. I was banded April 2015, I had a super rare complication and had to have it removed in august 2015. I got the sleeve Nov 5th 2015, I am extremely happy with the sleeve! I wish I had chose it from the beginning.

    Exercise question

Update (5 months late lol).... turns out the lump near my incision site was a sign of a super rare complication. I had developed a staff infection in my abdominal wall. I was put on antibiotics by my primary care doctor from may-august, I saw my surgeon again he he admitted for er surgery because the infection was living in my port so I had to have my entire bad system removed. I did however go back and got the sleeve on November 5th

    Exercise question

Thank you both, we didn't originally plan on it being 3 miles, we started on a 1.3 mile trail and somehow joined a different path that was a little over 3 miles...it's starting to get better but I am going to call the Dr on Monday
