    4 months and a struggle

:confused:Any help, assistance, or comments would be appreciated.... I am worried. I was banded in JUNE. I had one fill July to 2.5cc and then to 4.5cc - I only lost about 15 lbs. as of mid August ----- NO RESTRICTION. Today, after being gone for a month oversees I came back to get another fill - I'd lost NO weight since my last fill and in fact gained back 3 lbs. so I am at only 12 lbs or so LOST. So today he said he filled me to 9cc - I asked ... "my god, how much more can you put in there? and he said you have a big band - 20cc... this is after I got a huge lecture on that I wasn't supposed to be eating anything, I wasn't controlling portions, and that I had probably lost all the weight I was going to loose, etc., etc., - he basically scolded me the whole time. I told him I had no restriction and he commented that I wasn't supposed to, that first I needed to not eat more than a few bites at each meal. I am totally frustrated and confused. I have had no control over my portions, I admit it, but I have had no restriction at all to help me out. He is basically telling me that my band is working because I won't stop eating. HELP HELP HELP.... what can I do now? I now feel HUGE restriction and am sipping everything and I definatly feel a difference. Do you think he is just trying to get me motivated? Is it normal to NOT have restriction and NOT loose weight during the first few fills. I feel like a big failure - PLEASE HELP!!

  7. I was banded by Dr. Overcash in Ocala, FL on June 12th. Dr. Overcash is a no-nonsense, to the point kind of Dr. (which I liked about him right away). Went home evening of surgery. I walked, ate all 2-4 oz of liquid food, etc before being released. Then again it seemed the nurses were trying to hurry me out of the hospital room. Was able to sleep laying flat on back in my own bed 1st night and after w/no problems. Have heard some people can't lay down or can't get comfortable - but I did great. I took a few Percocet especially first 2-3 days but haven't except at night since 3rd day. I had no shoulder pain, not much gas pain, just pain in areas of port when bending which is to be expected. I took Arnica Montana for a few days before surgery and continue to take it. I have very LITTLE bruising. I also have been taking the GASX strips every day several times a day so I think that helps with the gas pain. 4 small little cuts and 1 large 3 inch or so. All look very good and healing very well. The pain I had was about what I expected, which is pretty tolerable. I've been drinking protein shakes, ns/nf pudding made w/skim milk mixed w/dry milk for added protein, cream of chicken soup w/added dry milk for added protein, sugar free popsicles, Viativ chewable vitamins, etc. Everything going down no problem (then again no fill yet). So far I am very happy with my decision. My only concern now is how fast I can make the scars disappear. Ordered some Kelo-Cote scar treatment to put on them in a week or so..... and waiting for my fill in 5 weeks or so.

Question about Tri Care Standard and WLS

I believe you will.. I just went at 5'6" and 262, so I barely made the 200% with no comorbids necessary, at your BMI I suspect you should be at the 200% as well. Don't know if TriCare actually requires it but I have to get psch eval (dr's requirement), cardiac stress test (Dr/anesthesiolgist req), thyroid test (dr. req), attend a nutrition class (dr. req), primary care dr ok/statement of mecially necessity (that was Dr req I believe), a letter from me, a letter from my spouse, my own DIET list from the past. I have asthma, lower back/disc problems, and fibromyalgia, and acid reflux - but I don't think I needed co-morbids as my 200% was enough for tricare. I don't believe tri care requires a medically supervised and/or 6 month diet requirement. I have tri care reserve select South - which is like tri care standard and my dr's are in-network, and from what I undersand I only have my small co-pays for everthing.

    Tricare now approves lapband

You will let us know as soon as you know right?? Also are you familiary with the requirements they will be looking for? 100 lbs or 200% (I'd like to know what that 200% is about?) - what background will they require - i.e., 5 yr weight, multiple attempts of documented weight loss. Do their co-morbidities include asthma. Thanks so much!!

    Tricare now approves lapband

What are Tri-care / humana military requirements - it mentions 100 lbs w/co-morbidity or 200%?? What does the 200% mean. For example I'm 245 5'5" that equates to about a 40-41 BMI. Also, what other things are they going to look for - 5 years weight history, prior attempts, etc??? Which co-morbitidy do they count - asthma?? Any info is appreciated. I called TRICARE and they still show not covered, but I do see it referenced in change 66/67.
