Hello Everyone, I am current Post Op Patient, I had my surgery on 06/10/2015. My road to this day has been a long one. I have struggled with my weight for years, I think I had tried every diet out there only to lose a few pounds and then yet to gain even more. Back in 2008, I had my first surgery which was the gastric lapband surgery. I lost about 50 lbs, but the then band starting causing more issues than it was doing helping to lose weight.
I developed GERD and acid reflux, I was not able to keep food down. With this issue, I had to have the lapband removed. I once again failed at that attempt and with the band removed, I once again gained more weight. One morning I woke and realized not only did I now have an overweight issue, but now I have several health issues. I have high blood pressure and found out 2 wks prior to surgery that I now have diabetis.
I had made the decision to talk to a new surgeon and discuss having the gastric bypass surgery. While waiting for the insurance approval, I unexpectedly damaged my knee and needed to have my miniscus and cartlidge repaired and kneecap repositioned. The pain of my weight really hit home and I knew I needed to get this knee back to walking again in order to have my gastric bypass surgery and the need to walk alot. While finishing up my physical therapy, I received the insurance approval and we set a surgery date. I was so excited. Three days ago, I had my surgery and now at home, I will follow all needed instructions to succeed this time. I want to be healthy and happy and enjoy all that life has to offer or put in front of me
I look at this next step in my life as a positive one.
